Personally I will report such links in insubstantial posts.  They are fundamentally no different than referral links and tolerating them will lead to much spam.
They should not be tolerated.

Not really, short links are against forum rules, and so are referral links. If you see someone posting it, feel free to report it to moderator, otherwise everyone will start posting referral spams here.

They post short/referral links because for now there is no adequate sanctions.I report such posts to moderators and they delete links. But after some time maybe they get tired from that and some of them will get banned.

As marlboroza say report all such post to moderators or we will see short/referral link mess here.

Yeah sharing ref links or short links are against forum rules and the one thing I have noticed apart from BT, about 20 or 30 new faucets are added daily on FaucetBox list and from these about 10 of them use shorten links and not surprisingly when you finally land on the faucet page the reward is 1 satoshis every 1440 minutes. Guess this is the new way to earn some satoshis. Reporting to moderators would put an end to url shortener spam.

How about having a little understanding for other methods and lifestyles?

Maybe there should be requirements to be able to post them.

For example, there could be a rule that we can't post short links before becoming a Full Member?
It also seems reasonable to allow them as long as the original link is also presented clearly as an option.

I think we could mostly all use the spare change.  :P

You know why shorten links aren't allowed, right?

It can have virus or any other bad thing and well, a Full Member can be a bad user too, time/activity don't change anything.

It's just protection for us all, if you see a shorten link, always report.

Not every short link network is bad. Banner scripts/popups/redirects can be just as troublesome..

Not really a good idea, because you can never know what is under that short link. If someone is full member doesn't mean he is not scammer who bought full member account, trying to steal coins.

Wrong thinking. Only 1 bad short link can make you problems.

It's a great idea. Don't execute anything that auto downloads.

How do you suppose that short links "STEAL COINS?"

Also, some short link networks such as WordLinxare not only very clean, but offer banner only short links, which don't make you wait for the page.

You failed to give any attention to my idea about allowing short links along with the original link or even ref links. (similar to thebot.net rules)

Not every short link network is bad.
Not every short link service is against the forum rules.
You can use linkshorteners like bit.ly or goo.gl without getting any problems from the moderators (at least not for the shortlink itself).

5. No link shortners that requires users to view an ad.

Some url shorteners like bit.ly or goo.gl isn' bad by itself, but links hidden under it also can be dangerous. Some users trying to hide ref links under it or malicious website like "faucet bot" with virus inside.

Thanks for clearing that up!

In that case, using wordlinx with banner/frame only should be acceptable.

This is true, but still people should have some discretion when clicking something new. Also, users can use subdomains such as co.nf or .tk to cause the same problems.
