Title: I need advice from you guys...
Post by: the founder on April 03, 2013, 12:30:53 PM
I need to figure a way to monetize Ounce.Me .    It's costing me money both in bandwidth, time (especially time) and is honestly taking me away from my family and stuff..   I don't mind doing it if I was getting income from it, but at this time I am not.. I have no way to monetize it, ideally in bitcoins.

March 4th - 3,400 visitors
Yesterday -  37,000 visitors
Today (if projections serve right,  it will near 50,000 visitors)

The site I am talking about is

Webapp: http://www.ounce.me

Android App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.btc.ounce.me

BTW : The android app was funded by the guys here at BitcoinTalk...

Typical day... checking on the app practially in real time,  tweeking the algorithm constantly to make it more accurate,  dealing with fail overs such as last night campbx was reporting 140 dollars (accurate now, but yesterday everyone else was buying them at 110 at that time)

I'm putting 14 hour days into this thing...  and it's better and more accurate now than ever but the end result is I need to figure a way to pay bills from it... I figured advertising would fit because it's on page 1 for the word bitcoin (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=bitcoin&c=apps) in the Google App Store but no one approached me yet...   even though the target market is specifically spot on and the traffic levels are high (and growing massively) .

any ideas?

You don't think Kitco or one of those PM sites who are gradually starting to look at bitcoin might want to buy some ad space?

Sounds like you need an ad guy...

Oh hey - I know, founder:  get the Parity Watch in there and then sell ad space to travel agents!

15% discount on tour packages to any country whose M1 has been surpassed by bitcoin!!!

Google Adsense?

I am running that... but do you click on ads?  seriously?  It's my experience that .000001% of bitcoin users click on ads... and perhaps .0001% of everyone else does...

the 4 dollars a day I am making from adsense isn't helping.

$4 per day X 365 days per year = $1,460 per year.

It won't get you rich, but it's a start.

SatoshiDice is advertising now on it.

I know I have a slightly different issue to you but I'm frustrated by the low payout of Adsense for my blogspot travel blog and am also looking for advice on how to sell ad space for it in BTC as I do need the income as it costs me a lot of time and I think it's more than fair to expect more revenue from both Adsense and the BTC world for advertising.

My own thread is here discussing a similar issue to the OPs:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=308590.0
