First off I would like to say that I like your site's clean, simple and responsive design.

I have some concerns about the provably fair system. Specifically, I believe that it is possible for a malicious game operator to always purchase the winning ticket, thereby cheating the players:

• The game operator can join the game at the last possible moment and guarantee that no other players are able to join after that.
• Given any game state, the game operator can calculate the winning ticket. Aside from the server seed and the client seed–which are predetermined–the total number of tickets determines the winning ticket (relevant code (https://gist.github.com/potluckgame/59e299feaf9f8931196dc4dffd295a3c#file-find-winner-js-L12-L25)).
• The game operator can find a number of tickets he has to purchase in order to receive the winning ticket and then purchase that number of tickets.
• Consequently the game operator is guaranteed to win that game himself.

Here is how the provably fair system currently works. (we are open for any suggestions)

1) when you place a bet, you get the tickets range in response. (visible in my bets section) This is important so that server can't reshuffle the bets in order to win the game.

2) The server doesn't know the winning ticket before the 20 seconds (end of the game). As the total pot value is taken into the random number generator.


3) if the operator places the last bet, his/her tickets will be last in the sequence (tickets distribution starts from 0 onwards). Also, no one can place the bet amount more than maximum bet. So it is extremely difficult to come up with the amount to make the last tickets win.

one way to make it even more difficult is to include the last bet amount into the equation. Something like this:

Unfortunately that is not true: Even within the constraints of the maximum bet limit–which can be circumvented by using multiple accounts anyways–it is very easy to find the correct number of tickets to purchase.

This simple proof of concept (https://gist.github.com/nvstrs/51715e65127ef4a7e8471dcee7ac4263) finds all valid wager sizes with which the last player to join any given round would win. Even for games in which many tickets have already been sold finding a winning ticket is virtually guaranteed.

Your code samples were missing the createHMACHash function, so I had to assume how it works. Let me know if yours doesn't use a SHA256 and I'll update the PoC. I have also modified findWinningTicket to return the winning ticket number directly. Apart from that your code is unchanged.


That would make the calculation slightly more complex but would not change the number of winning tickets one can expect to find.

For the game to be provably fair you essentially have to prove that the house cannot know the game result in time to cheat. One solution to that end is to use a key stretching function for the game result calculation, which would make it impossible to calculate whether a wager will win or not before the game ends. This is detrimental to user experience, though, as players would have to wait for at least the round duration to find out who won the game.

What about if there is only one player? So your bet will be refund or it stay until someone place a new bet? And btw i only saw 3 people online on your site? Does this thing will really affect on your play? And how much is the max bet for each and the max payout?

And is there any fee after each bet done? May be for you guys because i saw that you saying about giving every pot to the winner here

If there is only one player, then server bot (singSling) will play with you. In order to keep the game provably fair, singSling can't choose any bet amount. It has to match your bet. So if you have 3 bets (100 satoshis each) then singSling will place a bet of 300 satoshis.

Yes, the game launched today we are hoping that people like our game and have fun playing it. The maximum bet per round is 2500 satoshies and there is no limit to max payout. Potluck will never put a limit on max payout.

The house edge is just 1% or less (if the winner belongs to an affiliate program, hen the affiliate owner will get a cut in 1% commission)

Here is an update for provably fair system.


We see the following advantages:

• Server can't predict totalTicketsWithoutLastBetTickets during the first 20 seconds when the game is active.
• Server can't change totalTicketsWithoutLastBetTickets after the game is in 'pause bets' state.

So even if genius player / operator places the last bet hoping to win every time, the last bet will be excluded from the rngSeed calculation. So he/she can not influence the outcome.

Thanks for the reply. The highest active users count was 11 on day 1. One thing we have observed is that there is no enough room to try the game with 1000 satoshi signup bonus. We are planning to change this to 100bits. So that players can wager more, win more and also withdraw BTC. We will post a new message once these changes are live.

So for now the limit of max bet is 2500 sat? But what I really mean is not about the house edge, because this is bases on pvp games right? I mean about the fee for you guys like how much you guys get on every single bet or every payout? Let say I bet for 2500 sat and the total pot is 5000 so if I win how much is the payout? 5000 sat or 4500 sat based on your 1% house edge if you mean that fee?

This is how the edge would be in your example:

pot value at the end of the game: 5000 satoshis
your bet: 2500 satoshis
house edge = 1% of potValue = 50 satoshis
your profit = 5000 - 50 - 2500(initial bet amount) = 2450 satoshis (1.98x) return

if you joined potluck with a promo code, then the promo code owner would get a cut too.

promo code owner commission = floor(5% of house edge) = 2 satoshis
final house edge : 50 - 2 = 48 satoshis

There is no fee on the bets.

apart from house edge, the only other fee is the withdrawal fee of 0.0002 BTC (to cover the bitcoin transaction fee)

I just tested your website out a couple of times and it's really fun! It has a really nice user-friendly interface and it is somewhat unique compared to many other gambling sites. It is refreshing to see a new casino respond well to criticism, but I encourage you to continue working on your system until it is truly provably fair.

This change makes it harder for a malicious operator to cheat, but not yet impossible: To reliably influence the game result in every round he would now have to join with two sockpuppets in many rounds, which players would be more likely to notice. Alternatively, he could only join with a single sockpuppet in those rounds that he knows he will win anyway–without influencing the game result.

You have really a very interesting game I checked that and according to my strategy it is much easy to win each bet on your site. But the problem is that there are much less players on your site. You need to promote your site on this forum so that you get more player. At least start a signature campaign to spread your name to all the members of this forum.

In the start there will be less people but with the time you will see players increasing to your campaign The campaigns usually show its fruit after a few weeks but some people stop in the first week that is the fault of them they need to do some patience.

and try to increase the members if you will give place to lower members then you will get more participants to your campaign for a limited budget.

I dont say all of them but mostly is like that so better they prefer to let higher member to join their campaign with may be a little low payout if in case they have low budget

It is not about low level member being a spammers at all. We all were newbies in the past. Signature Campaign is all about exposure and visibility of your ads.

What i noticed that the Betting closes before the timer is over, like that guy bets and the betting closes.

I was waiting for the last second to double up but the timer got closed at 75% or something.

singSling is a bot. If you are the only player at the end of the game, then singSling will play with you. For provably fair reason, singSling has to match your bet. It can not select any random bet amount.

Looks like very few games run, which is a problem since the game is only good if a lot of people are on and playing.  Have you considered doing some marketing to increase the traffic?

Good to hear that because of low people here that you really need to activate your bot so people can play whenever they can and wherever they want. But if you dont increase your member I dont think that your site will hold that long though. You really need some good advertisement, what I saw from your campaign is your campaign is not that good because with same amount of posts each week people can earn better on other campaign

The one who bets the highest win most of the time but NOT all the time. The reason why is that, higher bet has a higher win chance. AFAIK That's how it works. However, luck still has a part, I am sure that the result is not always in favor of the highest bet, because I experienced to win with the minimum bet while all other players bet the max. I got 70k satoshis from 100 satoshi bet only, before. Well, just lucky me :D

As correctly explained by @jhenfelipe, If your bet amount is high your chances of winning are high but the returns are low (as low as 1.01x) However if your bet amount is low, then your chances of winning are low but when you win, you win really BIG (today we saw 30.56x return!)

So even if you loose in a row, one big win will offset all those small losses. In our experience golden ratio (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio) gives a very good balance between risk and reward. For example, if one player bets 100 then you can try betting goldenRatio * 100 ~= 160 etc. It's NOT a hard and fast rule. Ultimately your luck on the day plays a major part.
Maybe you were unlucky on that day...

I think it is still running and you can claim once per day as soon as you have wagered 0.0025 or more. It seems to be quiet in potluckgame.com before and after the holidays. I saw some players online but they are not playing. Singsling (their bot) is still there and as far as I remember he can play with you as long as you are the only player with bet of less than or equal to 2500 satoshis. If you are online in the site you can also chat crispr there if you have any question
