Title: How many Zcash coins actually exist?
Post by: adhitthana on October 28, 2016, 08:58:50 PM
Does anyone know
1. How many Zcash coins exist now?
2. What the total supply will be?

The total maximum supply is 21000000 ZEC just like Bitcoin, with a basically identical emission curve, the only difference is a slower emission for the first 20000 blocks where only half the number of ZEC are mined.

Based on a block explorer (https://explorer.zcha.in/) the current supply is 68 ZEC.
I have no idea how accurate that is.

Also, here's an emission chart I found in another thread:

Just saw this supply chart and I can say that a lot of market manipulation (pump/s) could be expected:

Buying right from the start could be a good or very bad idea.

lol 1 zec is worth 20 btc??? ::)

It like when the new PlayStation comes out and people put them on eBay for $10,000.
Maybe one rich guy buys one, but it takes days or weeks for the actual price to be known.

Guys you can play with the waves, but never sleep with ZEC in your bag if you day trading...

All people are talking about Zcash, the price is strange, who buy and sell this coin?, I have watched many Zcash threads since Poloniex listed it, but I haven't read if someone in this forum buy or sell this coin, and even it is legit coin why people are buying at this price although they know that the price will drop later when the mined coins increase.
The total supply will be 21 millions as Bitcoin total supply.

with supply like that, unless miners hold on to it, it will drastically drop in price

IMHO, instead of spending BTC on exchange to but ZEC at this high price, it is better to buy a 4 months Zcash mining contract from www.Zcash-Miner.com and sell them at exchanges at a later date.

How much hash power did u have?

Buying waaay overpriced cloud mining contracts is the worst decision you can do. I could offer what they do for half the price if I wanted to with above normal electricity prices.

Overpriced! If it is overpriced, then what would u call Genesis-Mining? What would u call the current price of Zcash?

For the first 20,000 blocks, the issuance is limited by the "slow start" algo.

Each block the $ZEC issuance increases.

At block 100, it was (100 / 20,000) * 12.5 $ZEC  = 0.0625 $ZEC.   With the target of 576 blocks/day, that means 36 $ZEC / day rate at block 100.

Blocks are targeted to come at the rate of one every 2.5 minutes.   (12.5 $ZEC every 2.5 minutes is the same as 50 $ZEC every 10 minutes, the same rat that Bitcoin started out with.)

At the current block, ~660 it is (660 / 20,000) * 12.5 = 0.4125 $ZEC per block.    With the target of 576 blocks/day, that means 237.6 $ZEC / day rate at block 660.

At Polo price of 19 BTC/ZEC, that's issuance at the rate of about $3M USD per day.  20% of that to the founders, 80% to the miners.

It's been just 8 hours since launch, and ZCash is already well into issuance of "day 2"'s coins.

This slow start is slow, sure.  But not anywhere near as slow as the "target" chart shows.

Incidentally, at this moment, with 850,000 Sol/S ( https://explorer.zcha.in/ ) at this very moment in time, and have a $200 AMD 470 GPU ... you're getting ~20 Sol/S on it, worth about $70/day.

It had a 99% of devaluation.. OMFG! TH!!! Thank God I didn't bought it. I sold almost my whole ETH "wallet" I have now 20% of the amount of a month ago, and 10% of XMR. But this Zcash is the Zcrash. Look, it was 20BTC a unit and NOW it's ~10-BTC. This is a scandal, not an ordinary movement. I won't tell my drastic opinon about it, but certainly it has som "misunderstood" around this coin.. dunno , but as I remember, nothing was like it... Whata bizzzzzarreee. Btw, cloud Zcash is like throw money out of the window... whata crazy crypto world bro.

zcash is a privat coin. who was able to invest before launch? how is mining now?
and the biggest problem is this: In the first 4 years the founders will take 20% of all coins mined.

why should anybody mine into the pockets of the founders?

There will be less than 1500 tokens in the first two days, concerning the price, it has crashed to 5BTC now. I can see another Steemit chart in the long run

So you are telling me if I put 100 AMD 470 mining zcash then I can earn $7000 in 1 day?
There are how many rich people out there with access to at least 1000 AMD GPUs right now?

"10% of the 21m coins to be issued are earmarked for founders, investors, employees and a putative Zcash foundation."

http://www.economist.com/news/finance-and-economics/21709329-another-crypto-currency-born-known-unknown

We know that trading started with the theoretical marketcap valuation of 10-20 folds bigger than BTC marketcap I doubt some of the initial owners of 10% coins will not sell at such attractive prices for selling.

Zcash will have the same number of coins as BTC. Yet it traded at over 3000 BTC per Zcash.
At that price based on 21 million coins it would have a final market cap of $30 Trillion USD....

Is that right?
