Title: What to do with this?
Post by: John (John K.) on April 04, 2013, 09:16:24 AM
Here's the downsides of free speech - us poor mods get this frequently.
I'm starting to think I'm getting cyber-bullied by him now.... :P

Just had an interesting clown to PM me here. I'll be moving this thread to Meta in some time unless any good suggestions roll in.
PS: Moved to Meta as it belongs there.

Hello John,

Can you please delete the following thread of mine:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=163256.0

I find it very distressing and I did not intend how I have been perceived. I have learned my lesson that I should have been clear that I need investors on my project. I am trying to build up to being a reputable member so one day I can contribute to the forum (as stated in another thread).

I do not like how I have been targeted and bullied.

I sincerely apologise.

As per the forum rules, I cannot delete any threads with replies by others.

I don't understand this rule? I am clearly being abused online and it is an act of cyberbullying. If you do nothing about it I will be taking it to the authorities as I am feeling very anxious and depressed on how I have been mistreated. If I sign myself into a psychologist this site will be honed in on.

You must be new to the internet. I was assuming you had a serious concern before this PM came in.

You clearly do not understand the term 'cyber bullying' and the hatred displayed by the members of this forum to my own psychological health. If you do not follow the news, this is a serious offence which is being cracked down upon. And by your latest pm shows that you are now involved. Where's this forum hosted? Netherlands?

Well done. You clearly have no position or right to be a moderator on a forum when you do NOTHING!

Yep, it's at Netherlands. Also, if you have issues with my moderation, feel free to debate your part here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=166884.0

Wow, you really stooped low here. You are pathetic and a bully. I'm glad you have highlighted the sort of person you are, looking for all the 14 year old forum members to yell and scream 'HAHAHAHA'. To most people, you just look pathetic and I feel sorry for you.

Just look at all your tip jars covering your profile. I really love the beggar look, suits you.

This is amazing how badly you shot yourself in the foot. You displayed to everyone the sort of person you are and lost credibility from the others who looked up to you. You are a troll king with a few 14 year old minions.

Well, it's only you and yourself making a spectacle out of this. I don't think I've even insulted you before, but I guess I apologize for not taking in account that you're such a sensitive kid.

Also, if there's any issues with my moderation feel free to chime in. I'm simply sick of such users that come around, trying to get me do something that they want, and throw a tantrum when they don't. I guess there's some truth to my title there.

Good work John! Everyone clearly thinks your right from all the responses! I'm glad you showed the forum how you abuse your powers and the level of of maturity that you possess. It was a pretty simple request, you are obviously unfit for the job.

A clarification to anyone's who's reading this: As per the forum policy, we do not remove threads where there are replies by other users unless there is express permission by the other participants. OT replies are not included in this policy, of course.

Sorry John, don't back down now. You've really done one here. Also if I wrote a topic, I should be allowed to delete it. If I express distress over a topic that is heated towards me, I should have the right for it to be deleted. If someone asks politely to remove a thread which is affecting them, I would have thought any rational human being in your position would have sympathised.

Yet here we are. Good job John! I really approve of how you moderate these forums (sarcasm) and I think a lot of people have changed how they view you now. Not doing your scabby tip jars any favour, I guess they will slow to a trickle now.

By the way, the main reason I posted this here was to demonstrate an example of the moderation here. We uphold the spirit of free speech vigorously, and we do not delete anything unless it's absolutely needed. Please do not PM/report to us asking to delete replies by others unless you have a good reason for that.

No, you stupid... You write a topic, and you may delete/edit/remove the content from YOUR OWN posts/replies. Who are you to decide on the deletion of replies made by other users?
This is a private forum, and there are a few rules, and when I say a few I really mean few. If you can't accept those few rules you're better off leaving.

Now remember. Please don't make yourself look like a hypocrite now will you. No deleting this thread that shows the true colours of lonesome man behind a computer screen begging for tips while abusing his power online because its something (power) he lacks in his own life.

As stated in my response it was for the thread to be deleted. I asked John nicely to remove MY thread and admitted I went about it the wrong way yet as you can see he is very childish.

The thread contains replies by others. This (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7269.0) is an example of a thread without other replies, and can be deleted with express permission by the OP only.

In real life, when you say something you cannot take it away.
Think of this as ral life.
Deletion on command would be devastating for this forum because people could easily start all kinds of fights and then remove the evidence by deleting the thread.

@GoldenAngel, how did John abuse you again? By not removing an outlandish thread?

Don't take it personally - some newbie wants "exciting new business", not hard to see the replies.

How he went about this. Instead of handling it privately in a professional manner. He WAS hoping for people to make an example of me. Back-fired just a bit and now it just detracts from his credibility as a mod. I hope there is an internal investigation into him.

I understand this which is why I apologised and asked for the thread to be removed so I had a chance to really show my worth on this forum and build my reputation before I ever made such a stupid thread again. I understand why so many people are quick to scream scammer etc after reading a lot of these threads on Bitcointalk and I did apologise.

And what about the feelings of the people who you try to cheat with your other accounts like "Peter.z"?
How many accounts you have opened else to cheat other people? 5? 10?
I think it's time, the admin start to delete all your accounts, bevor you can cheat more people!

Just got this PM from GoldenAngel:

Hey mate,

Can you please send me some pictures of your ASIC avalon with a piece of paper saying 'Peterz' in it.

Its for an April fools joke and would be really appreciated!

Please let me know and I'll give you my email to attach pictures. Doesn't matter if its a bit late, still will be super funny.

I agree it's kinda in bad taste to make this public through.

Thank you. I have a feeling a lot of people feel the same way but don't want to speak up against John to some nobody.

I simply don't have enough time to reply to each of your PM's, especially when each got worse in succession. I refrained from posting the PM's until it got to this:

You clearly do not understand the term 'cyber bullying' and the hatred displayed by the members of this forum to my own psychological health. If you do not follow the news, this is a serious offence which is being cracked down upon. And by your latest pm shows that you are now involved. Where's this forum hosted? Netherlands?

Well done. You clearly have no position or right to be a moderator on a forum when you do NOTHING!

Calm down. It was one pm that should have been resolved instantly, it really was not a big task. This further supports how unfit you are to be a mod if you cannot handle ONE simple request. YOU chose to make it difficult.

A piece of advice from a mod of a forum a bit larger than this one.

There is a certain class of user we call "legal trolls". This type of troll aims to undermine moderation staff and silence critics by looking for loopholes in the forum rules/netiquette, deliberately misunderstanding wording in forum rules/netiquette and deliberately misapplying legal terms or citing laws that are not even applicable to the forum in question.

It is the digital equivalent to the real world situation where a guy is tying up bouncers in discussion at a club when he is not allowed to enter.

The matter of legal trolls was discussed with our lawyer who came to the following conclusion.

[paraphrased]The solution is of course to remove the offending user from the premises. An internet forum is the digital equivalent to a private club. The club owner is well advised to remove club members that are souring the club by harassing club staff or other club members. He is also well within his rights to do so. Note also that this does NOT constitute an infringement on free speech, because free speech laws in all jurisdictions apply to the relation between government and citizen, NOT to relations between citizen (club owner and stuff) and citizen (club members). [/paraphrased]

You obviously have no idea so I would rather you not have an opinion. This started due to myself being cyber bullied (maybe ask your lawyer about that term). I looked to seek a resolution from a mod who laughed off this attack and then made it public for the forum to laugh at.

Also, if there's any issues with my moderation feel free to chime in. I'm simply sick of such users that come around, trying to get me do something that they want, and throw a tantrum when they don't. I guess there's some truth to my title there.
<----

In real life, when you say something you cannot take it away.
Think of this as ral life.
Deletion on command would be devastating for this forum because people could easily start all kinds of fights and then remove the evidence by deleting the thread.

I understand but I thought if John was a rational normal human being the particular circumstances would have been just.

I think John is pretty rational and he should stick to the forum rules.
Meanwhile, you should read the rules so you know how this whole circus works.

On a second note: You mods need an internal forum to discuss stuff like how to appropriately react to situations like this. I can understand theymos wishing to be as open as possible, but washing the linen in public ultimately weakens staff position.

Yay, drama.

Not realy.
In fact, the regulars think you're quite cute.

We have one, but I figured that this thread this would clear our stance of similar issues like this. I get PM'ed pretty much times to remove threads/replies where the OP figured that would be an embarrassment to him, or even detract his credibility, and many of them couldn't take it when I said no.

This forum is not above the Law and I do not see why it is so hard for yourself and others to see this. Although as someone mentioned, who is going to stick up for the new guy when everyone is established in bed with John. I do not care to see how this ends. I just wanted to show everyone the true John. I know for a lot of you this is cognitive dissonance so you will react blindly to whoever rises up and shout hatred. Forget it. Go huddle back up to John. From the thread you can clearly see how I was abused, I apologised as I should have stated investors as it was my own 'noobyness' as your kind would put it. I'm actually going to enjoy my day without wasting time in front of my computer answering Q&A's.

There you have it John. I bet you regretted that. Lucky you are well established and have lots of 'friends' who are blind to the topic as stated in my previous reply. By the way I doubt you even know the term cognitive dissonance, I suggest you look it up. Its the only reason you will ever feel that you have some worth, being so corrupt on these forums to new users.

+1

Now its too late to cry when you already stepped on the pile of dogp00.

With such a shady thread fitting all of the current scam ingredients, what else do you really expect to receive than mocking?

Why are you so dense? He clearly stated it's agaonst policy, if he did that, it would be undone when admin logged on and John chastised for doing things improperly.

Doing the right thing aint always easy, if it was everyone would do it.

Also it isn't your thread, it belongs to the forum/community, just because we have the ability to remove it doesn't mean we have the right to do so.

I like to think we live in a free society. If someone is bullied in real life or online, THIS IS a legal issue. It does not matter what rules this forum has when the forum MUST abide to the Law. But a least I showed post count and online titles DO NOT make you any kind of success.

A free society, except when someone hurts your feelings? Sounds real free.

And an easy solution to "cyber bullying"..log out and get out. Or ignore button.

HA! I could link you to a number of harassment cases as your arrogance astounds me. But I couldn't give a toss, this is just too blatant. Maybe your the one trolling?

If my arrogance astounds you now, you should get to know me better, it knows no bounds.

People were calling your outrageous proposal a scam in one thread.
Despite the community giving you the benefit of the doubt you did not provide any information that would assure everyone you are not trying to scam.
You could have prevented most of the responses in that thread by posting, for instance, a photo of the product you claim to have.
You did not but instead started ad-hominim responses about how idiotic everyone is for not taking you seriously.

What you think is bullying is maybe just people laughing in your face for your attempt to get peoples money for some product that you failed to demonstrate the existance of.

LOL, so what was done to you that could legaly be described as cyber bullying?

+1

The way i see it you entered the scene, dropped your pants, bent over and yelled: "Come get me boys!"
And now you cry for butthurt.

Simple: GoldenAngel must be banned from these forums.

My reasoning:

Prevents the so called "abuse"
Prevents the forum members from getting scammed
Makes everyone happy!

@GoldenAngel

Start self moderated topics from now on, then you can do whatever you want.

Yeah. That's why there is no rulebook. People would be rule-lawyering all the time.

Sounds like a good idea.

Even better if GoldenAngel simply stopped reading the offensive posts. The forum has an "ignore" feature for a reason.

Angel, I think it's time to develop a thicker hide.  Stop being a wimp.  Nobody is bullying anyone.  This isn't facebook.  If you act a certain way, you'll be treated a certain way.  That's how human beings work; they perceive and respond in the way they best see fit.  If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.  Reevaluate what you've done, why it received negative response, and act accordingly.  You'll figure this out when you get older, but, as of right now, it's going to sting when I say this: Nobody cares how you feel you're being treated.  We're not your brothers and sisters and the mods aren't your parents.  If you don't like it, go away.  If you think you'll stop throwing a tantrum and act like an adult from now on, the forum's always open to everyone.  Cyber-bullying is such a BS distraction for the over-sensitive.  It makes more sense for teens, anyway, to overreact to "bullying."  When it comes to adults, it stops applying.

Also, stop using your when you're obviously trying to say "you're."  Maybe you should wait a few years, mature, and then come back?

OK, went back and actually read the thread that started it all.

Here's my executive summary:
Fairly obvious scammer gets butthurt when scam gets called by people who've "been there, done that."
Butthurt scammer PMs nearly everyone (even PSY!) trying to get scam thread deleted.
Actual mod says: Nope, sorry, can't delete threads without permission from the other posters (A good policy, I might add, for exactly this reason).
Butthurt scammer gets MOAR BUTTHURT, starts abusing mod to try and get his way.
Mod posts this very entertaining thread.

Suggested solution: Sticky scam thread and see how fast Butthurt scammer gets to the top of the ignore charts.

I'm 53 and you're an asshole! If you desire, we can meetup and discuss the issue over a brewsky.

I am clearly being abused online and it is an act of cyberbullying. If you do nothing about it I will be taking it to the authorities as I am feeling very anxious and depressed on how I have been mistreated. If I sign myself into a psychologist this site will be honed in on.

I get PM'ed pretty much times to remove threads/replies where the OP figured that would be an embarrassment to him, or even detract his credibility, and many of them couldn't take it when I said no.
I'm honestly curious why very few people ever PM me, not that I don't mind not having to deal with this stuff.

This forum is not above the Law and I do not see why it is so hard for yourself and others to see this.
No, we are above the law (at least of any one country). The staff and administration here are purposefully distributed around the globe to prevent any one country from taking this site down.
