I've been searching for wallets and I'm not sure which to use.

My situation:
I want to try gambling on Fortune Jack. If i win something I'm simply going to cash out and never use bitcoin again, the same if i lose. Or maybe ill gamble again every once in a little while. But that's practically the full extent of my use for bitcoin.

So based on my personal use of bitcoin, what would be the best wallet for me?
I'm new to bitcoin in general so if someone could explain the process of selling as well, i would appreciate it.

I think you can try using mycelium, it is wallets bitcoin for android there are many features include you can change and make new wallet. And i think it is suitable for you because the usage of wallets for playing gambling.

Blockchain is the wallet where I'm holding my bitcoins. That's a good site where I can cash out my coins very fast. As I know Blockchan is the most used wallet for many users of bitcoin. My recommendation to you is to not hold your bit coins on am exchanger, it is very risky.

If I where you I'd use electrum or just a basic online wallet such as blockchain . info
You don't need to use the standard wallet as that will take days to catch up.

Just use an paper wallet if you will hold it forever, it's the most secure way...

You obviously need lightweight wallet. So software wallets with full validation like Bitcoin Core, Armory, mSigna are disqualified from the start.

Next, do you need wallet for PC or mobile device? For PC I recommend Multibit HD or Electrum, for Android/iOs breadwallet.

The only online wallet I would use for gambling is blockchain.info - whatever you do, don't use Xapo for gambling - it is against their ToS.

You can't say that bro, web wallets are not unsafe always, the blockchain one is pretty safe, I and a lot of my friends use it.

I'd also recommend blockchain as its universally available and more secure than other ones. As you're just trying to gamble and stuff, then your best option is using Blockchain.info wallet, so that you don't have to download the GBs of Blockchain data on your PC. There is no benefit in using the software one and don't think about hardware wallets if you are not using BTC heavily.

I need a wallet for pc laptop.
So would blockchain be the best for me? it seems the most suggested.
Or do i try  Multibit HD or Electrum.

Also do these wallets come with a way to sell? or do i have to find a website?

If your internet connection allows, you can use Bitcoin Core with pruning.

Most wallets that are safe do not offer a way to sell. Some online wallets like Xapo offers the feature of withdrawing through their debit cards. It won't be safe nor cheap.

I guess ill give Electrum and MultiBit a look. Can you give me a safe place to buy Bitcoins.
Also, FortueJack offers a way to buy Bitcoins through their website. would that be safe?

electrum and blockchain if you want to use web wallet service, i always use blockchain before deposit to gambling site

There is a Operating system, called "Tails" which you download from the internet, and it's got a Bitcoin wallet built into the OS. You boot up with it, bypassing most of the viruses that target more commercial Operating systems and then you create your wallet. It took me a few hours to download the OS, burn the ISO to a DVD and then 5 minutes to configure the wallet.

Certainly not the best way to do it, but a bit safer that Windows based applications. ^smile^

I have used blockchain.info from my starting days till now and as they provide quite simple user interface also and your account will be associated with your email address so it will be like using traditional payment gateway. But don't forget your password during registration because password can't be recovered.

you should first understand how each of these wallets work and the risks that come with each of them. it is not hard though.
for example since you want to gamble you should forget about web wallets like coinabse, but you can use blockchain.info and remember that it is a web wallet so you are susceptible to hacking.
and as for electrum or other desktop wallets, as long as you keep your computer clean and watch out you will be ok.

When I started I was suggested xapo, blockchain and coinbase. After seeing all the three mentioned above, I. decided to go with coinbase. I felt it was relatively easy and simple to use. However you should select one that gives you access to the keys. You should also decide on your btc capacity. Take suggestions, but Google also, it's your money dude. Read every suggestions well, I had a similar post about btc wallet you could read that also.

You can buy using coinbase if you are from US and localbitcoin works for everyone. Also in bitfinex, kraken, bitstamp etc.
It should be safe but if you have doubt use a reputable exchange like mentioned above.
Be moderate in gambling btw, you wouldn't want to loose all your money. Goodluck.

I think fortunejack site is quite reputed site so if you don't have any other option then you can buy from them. But for wallet you can use blockchain or XAPO account, both are good for gambling. XAPO don't have any charges for sending money and transactions also quite faster.

I think the best option is Multibit HD its lightweight and easy to install and it seems to have a way to buy and sell bitcoins directly from the wallet but I don't know how to use that feature.  

there's so many good bitcoin wallet for , for example the blockchain wallet you can also use bitcoin core wallet which is indexed above the forums navigation list and it also has an android app . but i think it is more convenient for you to use a light wallet which can be used even on the web or phone .

much better to choose blockchain bitcoin wallet or local bitcoin wallet in your country which is offering the best services that you can used more that the other bitcoin wallet. And much better to have more bitcoin wallet to lessen the risk of your money.

Electrum would be the easiest choice imho. Just please make sure your computer is also safe and free of viruses/trojans/keyloggers.
The wallet is light, easy to use, pretty safe and you hold control of it 100%, so even if you win a fortune you will fear that somebody else has access to your money. And it syncs instantly.

I recommend multibit classic,it's pretty easy to use and comfortable to work with,the UI is also clean without excessive colors.

Since you appear to be new to Bitcoin, I would recommend you not to use offline wallets.
You should use don't online Bitcoin services like Coinbase and Xapo.

Big Coinbase and Xapo can let you store ,send, receive, buy and sell Bitcoins. Both of them are trusted ones.
Benefit of Xapo would be that you don't have to pay transactions fees(not very high).

For you, i would recommend ty use Coinbase or Xapo for selling Bitcoins rather than using other exchanges.

Better try use block.io , they do not have issues based on where the bitcoin is coming from but if you try use online wallet like coinbase  that may land you into serious trouble that your money could get lost at the the end because they hate gambling activities.

First is if you are going to use for gambling then dont go for online web wallet instead download desktop wallet as i am using electrum i can suggest it but you can try other also. As in desktop wallet you will be having full control of the bitcoin address with keys so in future if any problem you can sign message and no one will ask you anything if you are going to use bitcoin for any purpose

I would recommend Bitfinex or coinbase for buying Bitcoins. When using coinbase, it is recommended to use a mixer before transferring to your own address.
There is 0 disadvantages of using a desktop wallet especially since nearly all of them uses a seed which would allow the addresses to be accessible from several devices. The UI is friendly enough, even for paper wallets and Armory in offline mode.

I was recommending use of online wallet as-
1. He can directly but, sell Bitcoins there
2. He is new to it
3. He is only willing to use it for a specific thing. ( Maybe to be used only for done days). So why download the application.
4. I feel online wallets are easier to understand. There are support sections.
5. For desktop wallets, applications must be  installed on each of the device.
6. It would be easier to remember passwords of Coinbase or Xapo.
7. I don't think he needs things such as paper wallets, offline mode.

The two online wallets you mentioned has very specific policies regarding transactions related to gambling. If they see any transactions that involves a gambling site, they may close your account without any notice.
How hard is it to find the send and receive button? Online wallets are not any better in terms of UI. And this:

I'm not sure how hard it is to take 2 minutes to install a program as opposed to creating the account in 5 minutes. Desktop wallets gives you a lot more privacy and security.
How many do you want. If you are going to use a web wallet, you would probably be downloading it to your phone too.

Neither do I. I just gave it as an example that desktop wallets are as, if not more user friendly than web wallets.

If I'm right, Xapo is based in Switzerland. So, it does not restrict gambling transactions.
But yes, you are right for Coinbase(US based), it has closed several accounts for gambling site transactions.

Personally, I feel UI of Online wallets is good.


Yes, you are correct that it can take more time for setting up online wallet.
But security isn't a concern of online wallets.(Only concern is the wallet company scams;  Coinbase Xapo are trusted) We have an option to set 2FA + password. Also, while making any transaction, your IP would not be revealed at the blockchain.
