Yes. It exists everywhere. Even in Saudi Arabia and Iran, where the strictest implementation of the Shariah law is enforced. But in most of the cases, prostitution is in the grey zone. In some puritanist countries, it is illegal without any exceptions. But in most of the nations, prostitution is tolerated, as long as it does not involve minors. I was thinking that China was in the latter category.

The reason where there are laws is to keep the social order and because there is need for adequate maintenance of law and without that there is anarchy. I think the police did their job. Even though it is a private one it is againt their law that she expose herself in such act. Anyone who caughts that violates the law will be punish.

I don't think that what she did was illegal. It is true that prostitution is illegal in China. But she was not engaging in prostitution. She was just participating in some online adult show, which in my opinion does not fall inside the scope of prostitution.

Imprisonment is different from enslavement. Hardcore criminals deserve imprisonment, and it is perfectly justified in such cases. But that is not the point here. She is being imprisoned for something silly, and that is plain wrong.

Pornography always makes money and enjoys a stable demand. Why the Chinese should be the exception? I don't like the look of the Chinese model, but it means nothing. Demand is always there.

I guess she is jobless and that is why she engaged in that kind of activity to earn money to feed her family. Her video was already removed in youtube after the incident become viral. This is not only happening in China but also to all parts of the world especially in third world countries since the pay is good and you will earn a month salary in just one show. This kind of job is very tempting but dont do it so you will not also end up in jail.

Do not confuse Chinese people and the Chinese government. There really is a Communist government in which there are 70-80 year old men with the mentality of the 50s. In the days of their youth it was. I am sure that with time everything will fall into place.

I dont feel pity at all for anyone found wanting to have break the law of the society so far the sentence is carried out following due process. whether that is fair or not, will be another discussion. The reason why we have laws is to prevent anarchy and so far it has been agreed by majority of the society that this is how we want to regulate our activities, any other person doing contrary to that is treated as an outcast and even punished to serve as deterrent to others.

Each country has its own rules, friend. According to the law in China if there is someone who produce, duplicate, publish, sell or disseminate pornographic material will be jailed over 3 years.
