Title: 5850 Core speed
Post by: SkyNet on April 07, 2013, 07:46:45 PM
Hi everyone,

I own a 5850 card which is limited to 775Mhz Engine Clock. I am overclocking using gpuminer. The card is a Gigabyte.
I am reading through other topics that people are clocking these more than 900Mhz.
Any idea how to go beyond the 775Mhz point?

Use CGMiner.  You can set any engine clock speed and have it adjust based on target temps etc...  A must if not in front of the miner 24/7.

depending on your card, you can go up to 950 mhz without any voltage adjustment. just use cgminer (which has built-in overclocking without limitations). please note that above 850 mhz, the card may be unstable for anything other than 2D/mining, so don't run any games, or use aero mode.

Thanks a lot
already at 900Mhz mining more than 350Mhash
CGminer is a powerful tool

Try 960 core (1.05v), about 400mh/s. Temp was almost 80C, decreased to 68-71C (fan @ 80%) after a dose of Prolima Tech PK-1. Room temp is about 34-35C during the day, definitely much better than it used to be with 5 cards.

I used to run the cards at 775 core (0.85v) at 330mh/s when BTC price was less than $15.
