Title: What can I do to make sure bitcoin outlives us?
Post by: syxbits on April 08, 2013, 06:40:28 PM
Hi, since I have to post in the newbie section as a new member, I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this topic.

There is a lot of short-term speculation and fascination on the price, but I think this is an opportunity to re-imagine industries that no one could even think of disrupting a few years ago.

What can individuals do today to continue building the foundation of bitcoin? I'll start with building or converting businesses to take bitcoin, so once its stabilized folks can actually use it to trade for more than just currencies.

Put a paper wallet in a lock box to pass down to your children when you die. Some instructions along with the paper wallet may be helpful, too.

I think it will outlive us.  I like that so many where lost in early days to wallets being forgotten, that gives the 51% ownership theory a run for its money.  It may not be BTC, but the idea of crypocurrencys will live on until the internet itself dies.

I think a lot of what we're seeing with BTC and altcoins alike runs on speculation, not all of it, but a lot of it. Adding substance to the currency through goods/services is what will make it stay for good. A currency is to be used after all! That's just my humble opinion. :)
