Title: Skrill now lets you upload money via bitcoin
Post by: Abdussamad on December 06, 2016, 06:55:34 PM
Skrill now lets you upload money to your skrill account using bitcoin. The fee is 1%. The option is right there on the upload funds page. Go take a look if you have a skrill account!

Some days ago I saw a thread about it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1699023.0

But looks they just accept it informally via neteller or any other service offering itself as middle-man to complete the transaction. Do Bitcoin option appear directly in Skrill site for you? I can't see this. Or that is why what I said above, or because my country doesn't accept this.

I guess it's still for select countries, not yet mainstream.
I'm glad Skrill got wise and added btc to its deposit options - something PayPal should learn from ::)

This is great news for bitcoin yet again! More and more big companies and services are adopting bitcoin. This is an enormous opportunity for us who already are using bitcoin. We have a head start from the rest of the world. Getting more people to use it would most likely increase the prices due to more demand. I hope larger corporations adopt bitcoin, like Amazon and Paypal.

No i don't think so, however there is limitation on use of those funds uploaded via bitcoin.

You can't withdraw it or use it with skrill cards just like in neteller. Both skrill and neteller now are owned by same company. However this news is quite exciting for bitcoin users, but it will be more exciting if they also add withdraw to bitcoin feature.  ;)

I never used this service myself, but we see a tendency of big names out there that they take bitcoins seriously and integrate it. I would like to see it appear in Paypal, but I don't think this could appear very soon from my point of view.

The only hope is the time will tell.

Well it seems that you cannot withdraw your funds in bitcoin but at least it's something, and the commission is not that high so maybe that is a service that I would use in the future.

I really want this!
Shame it's for select countries only. I'm not seeing it for my upload options! I hope they open it to more countries soon..
And the fees are even way lower than Neteller and credit/debit cards. I don't even care about the withdrawal right now. Just open it to more countries.

I think it's not Skrill fault, they must agree with countries terms to offer their service there. similiar to Paypal, there are countries with restrictions about some features of this service. Every payment system keeping relations with banks and ''legalizated'' with government seal have these issues. Too many rules they must agree.

Good to see skrill now accepted bitcoin officialy, they offering competitive rate all we know that neteller offering bitcoin's deposit fee is also 1%. ( well, i heard that both of them are owned by the same company ) i have a skrill account but not too often to transaction with it, sadly it's for select countries only, however it's good for those who want to buy something with bitcoin where bitcoin is not supported out there, the alternative is use this service.

That makes sense since Skrill/Moneybookers were acquired by Neteller some time ago.  Anyway the question is how do you get Skrill money back to Bitcoin?  Are there exchanges that accept Skrill deposits?  We should celebrate only if the road goes both ways.  If we could only deposit to Skrill but have no way to get money back to Bitcoin then all that would do is keep milking money out of the Bitcoin economy.

You can convert your Skrill into btc on bitcointalk currency exchange page or on localbitcoins. I used to trade between skrill/neteller and BTC and it was smooth everytime ive done so. Skrill to btc is safer than the other way around. As when you are buying skrill on localbitcoin or on this forum you might come across someone who has acquired those funds through credit card fraud. Its good that skrill is a part of that exchange as well. No more dealing with potential credit card fraudsters. :)

I am not sure where you find this news.I saw a other guy post this same like you.I cant find any news where Skrill allows bitcoin.also dont get any message from Skrill that they accept bitcoin.I think its their own message there are many exchange website they accept bitcoin that does not mean Skrill allows bitcoin.I checked my Skrill wallet there have no option to deposit and withdraw via Skrill.

Actually I am not so interested in this feature because I am still trying to increase my coins instead of selling them.

However this is a good news to the bitcoin ecosystem as a confirmation of the increased interest of new and larger firms to be part of this altcoin world, which undoubtedly will generate more certainty and reliability in the bitcoin.

This is good news because many people here are using skrill for bitcoin and now skrill increase or added the feature to accept bitcoin in skrill and i hope more adoption will come with bitcoin.. how about buying bitcoins with skrill?
It can be more advantage if they can use skrill also to buy bitcoins?

This is really old news. I remember they started taking it... I don't even know 2 or maybe even 4 months ago? Either way it's old news but good for the bitcoin price of course!

another site is available to upload money via bitcoin, i think its a good for us to know this because we have another option, i think it can make the other payment site will do like skrill. but for me, i think its still better to make buy and sell order with someone we know and not make a site with online, because its more safe and secure for us to make a deal.

Anyone able to confirm who they use to determine the value of BTC? A lot of places use things like "1% fee" but are using a processor that also has their own fee, such that you're paying far more.

The issue is that while they do accept it, all they are doing is turning it back into fiat (selling it) most likely. That means when you buy BTC, you push the price up, when you convert it through Skrill, it gets pushed back down (in theory). But it does push the idea that it's a currency, rather than investment vehicle.

Regardless, having skrill accept bitcoin opens a lot of opportunities for Bitcoin itself. If bitcoin is successfully integrated and adopted by skrill this event can be a good precedent for other companies to accept bitcoin. If paypal will follow skrill that would be a major leap for bitcoin's acceptance. Buying and selling or investing doesn't matter, it's a good thing.

Im guessing they are partners with coinbase or bitpay?

Can anyone confirm is the rate decent for funds upload, if they use finex rate 1% would mean nothing.

I guess not USD to BTC option yet, right? That one would be very nice and interesting. Does anyone know any cheap option to go between Paypal and BTC.

Did someone tried with Skrill (I know that it isn't possible on Neteller) to use the converted bitcoins with the card?
