Deserves because it's weathered all the storms its had thrown at it.

I'm long on BTC. In 5 years it won't be purchasable in full amounts for most people.

I think the same, 16 million btc already out and most of them in very strong hand and only 5 million new btc coming and that runs into 2140.

Im thinking in 5 years they'll be 6 digits or more. It may be high hopes but at this rate anything is possible.

Except sure cheap btc. Those days are over.

Long. Next year could be the last year to purchase bitcoin at under $1k.

Just spend a small amount of Fiat, buy some BTC and go LONG! This is the time where the coins are "cheap" and anyone can buy it. I'm convinced that in the near future this will not be the case any more.

It will be a long long rally on the way up till next year 2017 and Bitcoin will never go back below 600 again. Think of whats happening this month, bitcoin is playing around 740-770..if its go down 650 will be the new.bottom but when it goes up 1000$ van achieve.

That's what I think too. After a 2 year down trend + accumulation phase the pump has to last longer then the current uptrend has so far. I figure its gonnna get pumped till end 2017, then it can start its next down trend.

As long as it hits 5k first.

LOL.

Obviously anyone getting short at this point deserves to lose money, it's like waiting months and months for something to come and when it finally comes, you chikens out and sells at 20% gain. lol

well said.
right now miners are earning approximately 1800BTC per day which is the amount they sell this was 3600BTC and will continue going down and each time this massive sell pressure is removed price will go up (it has already happened twice and price has gone up twice) and there are so many strong hands accumulating these coins because they very well know what is happening.

* best thing is long

I'm with you on this one, I can't even fathom the number but it is going to be big and make the previous ATH look like a ittle crab in ya pants.

Long. Next year could be the last year to purchase bitcoin at under $1k.

Very probable if what is happening in India now continues. Chinese markets are also looking promising.
That said I choose long, although it's possible to win on shorts. I highly doubt the price will keep growing for months and there will be a correction before we break $1000.

For active traders they will definitely short but for some investors and bitcoins users they will eventually go for long. In my case i will short on this price since im an active trader and i do enjoy profits when bitcoin moves it price but still there are some portions that i lend for long positions.

I too prefer going for long with the respect to current trend of bitcoin price level. Yes, we are probably moving towards any time new high price levels for bitcoins which may lead to even $1500 price levels to in upcoming months.

Some fluctuations will be possible by this time but that will not sustain, uptrend seems inevitable.

I vote for long. If price continues to rise Bitcoin will probably not be so widely avilable to large audience so it could become kind of elite cryptocurrency. I don't know how will that end if we come to very high price like 2000$ or so but the profit and the chances are stil best long term.

I also agree with you. the longer term it would be better to get an advantage. but the only problem is that we must have patience pretty good. because if we do not wait then we could lose all that we have. one of the reasons why many people have a short time in investing.

Biticon deserves new ATH, all right. But do we really have base for it in 2016? I don't think so. With only 20 days left until end of the year price spike of 100% is impossible.
It is true that we did not have any hacks/fails and uptrend it here but that is still not enough.
We need to wait for bitcoin related projects in 2017 to take effects (SegWit is not activated and I want to see price after BitCache will go live) - so the price can move.

Yeh I'm long, but that only cause I don't know exactly how to go short.  I don't trust them exchanges.  Bitcoin prolly is gonna hit $1000 anyway, the way it's goin'.  Then I'd get caught out with a short position I don't want.  Be jist my luck.

Anyone here really shortin' bitcoin?

While I almost agree with you I do think if the market makers wanted to we can see a new ATH by new years eve but more realistaclly its coming in 2017. One can always hope though.

It would require a 50-60% hike in 20 days. I hope that it doesn't happen because these kind of surges are invariably followed by drastic falls and disillusionment of a large section of the population.

I think a little pump could affect during Xmas holidays, but price seems to be even stable.
Probably we are going to see a good 2017 for all of us!

I am always long on bitcoin, people used to say its good to buy all bitcoin under $700 few months ago and now any price under $800 is good. Next year it will be anything under $1000 will be good price to enter and obviously price will keep hitting new ATH frequently in coming years. So better to hold and buy more that you can afford to buy.  ;D

they buy at a cheap price and then sell at high prices. bitcoin really fantastic.

Bitcoins are online crypto-currencies and are not subjected to dissolving. Fiats and gold and other precious items are subjected to price hikes abd might be priceless one day. However, bitcoins are a fixed amount and so their price will always lie in a certain range. In India after demonetization people are buying bitcoins and this is happening in the rest of the world too.

Bitcoin have limited supply and there are lots of new merchants, stores started to take bitcoin payments these days which gonna increase the demand for bitcoin so price on long term will rise for sure. Yes i am buying bitcoin and holding them tightly, i don't worry about dumping it in small price correction.

I don't think that merchant adoption will lead to a higher price in the long term. Mainly because of the fact that they are not accepting Bitcoin directly.

The greater majority of the merchants make use of payment services that convert all their Bitcoin sales to fiat which they get on their bank accounts within 2 days.

More merchants accepting Bitcoin will translate into more pressure on the price. We need more merchants holding their coins directly as that will impact the price positive manner.

However, due to the volatile nature of Bitcoin there won't be a lot merchants willing to do so. It might cost them a big part of their revenue at the time the price plummets.

i have tried short but i was never that successful about it, i made small amounts but i was so stressed and also worst part of it for me was the massive amount of time it took for me to do it.

so now i am only a bitcoinhodler and i always go long :D
much easier and more profitable.

It would really stress you out if you are a short trader on bitcoin but some could able to manage those things and could able to make money or profits on a short period of time but it really depends on a trader on which trading style that really suits for him. Same as yours i do experience such thing thats why i decided to go for long. ;D

I'm long!
It might drop during the bull run I believe we will continue over the next year.
The chance of a new ATH is very likely imo.It may not happen as quick as some expect, speaking Q1 or Q2, but we will see it happening.
So yes I'm bullish for the next year.

Am neither long nor short. Am in fiat the the moment.

The Federal Reserve meets on the 13th - 14th and is likely to raise interest rates. Usually this means the dollar strengthens and everything else weakens. But with bitcoin we might see people from the weakening currencies (China etc) pile into bitcoin to preserve the value of their money.

It is just too hard to tell what will happen, so am sitting it out.

What does "deserve" have to do with it? Bitcoin's growth has more to do with its growth of being used. Bitcoin's niche markets are those that are not served by the banks. That means the dark markets, the criminal underground, the hackers and all the others that want to circumvent regulation. This is ignored and despised by most in the community but do not underestimate the value it brings to Bitcoin.

Deserve has a lot to do with it. After so many years btc deserves its spotlight shot and this may be it. And please dont forget about all the legit uses of btc, you sound like a fudder from 2013. The billions of unbanked would be a good place to start.
