I've used Btc-e a little bit to dabble into trading of alt-currencies, however I've seen a few reports from people claiming that Btc-e is stealing the bitcoins in their account. Personally I've had no issues with them, although sometimes I have to hit up google translator to translate pieces of the site from russian to english, as the language is not been translated well throughout the entire site. That's some small oversight, and the trollbox of theis is a history in itself.

Also support seems to be extremely brief, usually it is only one word responses. Perhaps they're overloaded, and only 1 or 2 persons is running it all ? Anyway, I've got the impression that the site is somewhat shady, and thus it is to be expected that they could close shop, or funds could vanish at any point.

Also, the trollbox has a lot of traffic, and sometimes dubious links are posted there, I would suspect some of those links contains malware/trojans if clicked on, and esp. it could be dangerous if you run a windows system. If e-mail withdraw confirmation is not enabled, then someone gaining access to your account could just withdraw your funds.

I also asked them if they would roll out any two factor system, and the only reply was: 'soon'. E-mail confirmation of withdraws is a good thing, although I'd prefer if they didn't state the amount in the confirmation e-mail, but just said something to the effect of:

A withdraw has been requested from your account, please go here [link] to confirm the withdraw - and then when you visit their link, a page pops up saying, you've requested to withdraw n BTC, do you want to execute this transaction ? Yes/No

As for now, I will not leave any more money on that site than I'm comfortable with losing. Perhaps that rule should be true for all websites dealing with bitcoins, but I do feel more confident about certain sites than about others.

What are your impressions about btc-e.com ?

I've always had a certain amount of respect for them. They have always been fair, the interface is easy, and the transfers are usually more or less instant. Back in the day when the database was tampered with, they made everything right with my balances. I've used them a very long time, and have never had an issue that Support didn't resolve in a timely manner.

That being said, the recent posts about missing BTC / LTC is setting off alarm bells to the point where I pulled the large portion of my stack out of BTC-e. Not to mention there is definitely something going on with the way the site has been handling web sessions lately, which may have something to do with whats happening.

Better safe than sorry...

For the record, my coins transferred instantly with no issues. Once things blow over I'll move some more back in.

Ah, yes - I am happy with their interface too, but I've gotten a bit uneasy about all these comments about money gone from accounts. But it could be users suspective to phising or having clicked the links in the trollbox as well..

No problems here.

Just wish they would remove that crap coin Novascam.  ;D
