Why Christians put Christmas on particular date 25th December? Was it is due to Pope Julius who officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be on the 25th December? Why that particular day is so special?

Why that particular day is so special? Not all Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25. Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on 7 January. Our grand grand father's family has been a christian ever since which they come from Spain. we celebrate it because its jsut how it is, i don't know much about the tradition not being christian but having the whole family around feels good. :)

Thus getting people to convert would be easier.

And it was also the time of the year when the north star is very bright and visible which they said lead the 3 wise men to the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

It is just invented by the pagan during Christ time if I'm not mistaken. The Church originally adapted to a the birth of a pagan god, just to make it easier for the pagans to become Christians and convert to believing ion the real God. Today we follow this tradition, simply because it is a tradition, not because we do or would have done as the early Church. Most people who celebrate for Christian purpose don't even know that Jesus was not born on 12/25.

Makes me laugh when people talk about a "traditional Christmas". They think traditional means a Christian one, with Jesus, kings and myrrh and all that stuff. It doesn't. Christmas is now celebrated by people around the world, whether they are Christians or not. It's a time when family and friends come together and remember the good things they have. Now Christmas become only commercial holiday. We see Christmas ads in early November, we spend lot of money for the gifts and mostly don't feel real spirit of Christmas. |
