Title: I don't think It should be a Problem
Post by: jamalaezaz on December 16, 2016, 01:45:29 PM
I am a marketing and Promotion manager and have been working here with lots of Crypto related projects. specially ICOs..
As a marketing guy I am always thinking new ways to promote a project and attract users (specially investors) Bitcointalk is my first priority. (obviously it is the largest platform of Crypto users), signature campaign is widely famous and worthy. but I needed more. so I've introduced a new Kind of Advertisement Campaign/bounty Campaign..

Reference: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1715224.0

In this bounty I'll be Paying users who have their own Threads. they can Place a Banner in their Ads and I'll pay them weekly bases..

I think it will be a Good Idea to promote something and to encourage Forum Contributors.

Declaimer: This Idea Actually came up in my Mind From Mitchell's Thread (Signature Campaign Overview) where he's selling Ads... from there I though it must Be Alright to sell Ads in Threads and not against of Any forum Rules...

I am Open to listen you..

I'm no expert so I believe someone who has been around longer will correct me... I believe that advertising can only be placed in signatures and not in the body of posts (this will get posters banned for spamming).  However, images cannot be used in signatures and all your banners are in .gif format, so if you want to run an advertising campaign on Bitcointalk you would need to provide allowed signature formats and run it as a proper signature campaign.  Escrowing the funds you will use for payouts is also recommended.

Having an advert in any random threads wouldn't be permitted. It's only allowed under certain circumstances and with threads that are considered substantial or helpful and Mitchell got special permission from theymos for that thread (long before he was a moderator as well).

I am not going to select any random thread.. I'll probably review all threads and follow accordingly.. specially I am looking for ICO related threads. since I am promoting an ICO..
is it still not alright?

Multiple threads (even if reviewed) is a slippery slope. I strongly dislike the idea, although you did good by asking first.

but why you dislike this? isn't it a good Idea if someone serve ads on his portfolio, trading, service or selling good thread and earn some money?
Mitchell already doin this.

Mitchells thread is years old and lots of work to maintain. You are asking for new threads to be created. I see no problem with this once these threads have been established over the years, but I doubt this is what you had in mind.

This would give people incentive to start either completely useless threads or half-baked ones. It also may shift the limits of what people find acceptable. IMO it should only be done in exceptionally useful threads with prior approval from an admin (per thread).

Shorena and Lauda!
I'm on Mobile so can't quote your posts.

Anyway I think you didn't read my reference in above post. I didn't said I'll pay for any new thread. Nor I have anything like that that. Even my attention was to only accept service marketplace (altcoin and general) sections. Where people already use to advertise things. And I clearly stated only thread with lots of view s will be accepted.
People who create new thread and apply is totally a LOL.

If your project is somewhat related to the thread(s) you are advertising in then this might be okay for ICO threads. For example if you ar advertising an exchange and would be trading the ICO coin once it launches then you could pay to have your exchange prominently listed on the thread.

There is not much wiggle room to not violate the no ads in threads rule though.

Even though I did not understand your intentions correctly, I think my point still stands. The current number of threads with paid ads is minuscule, which threads do you think would qualify to have your ad?

We already have a forum ad, a signature ad, and an avatar ad. If we start having ads in OP (and then eventually in posts), people may not know this place is a forum.

Edit.
It'd also interfere with forum financing from ads. No chance of admins permitting opening post ads.

Assuming that you idea put advertise to multiple thread, you almost not have chance that Theymos allow it .
