Title: If bitcoin prices rise up to $100,000, will you still gamble using bitcoins?
Post by: LuanX3 on December 20, 2016, 08:48:45 AM
When that time comes that the price of bitcoins will be $100,000 will you still gamble in casinos and sports books?

If the price of bitcoin is $100,000

0.001BTC/1mBTC/100,000Satoshi = $100
0.0001BTC/0.1mBTC/10,000Satoshi = $10
0.00001BTC/0.01mBTC/1,000Satoshi = $1

1 Satoshi = $0.001

There is no point for anyone to stop gambling when price will be even as high as $1 million per coin. When price per coin will pump hard most of the bitcoin casino will lower their minimum bet size and maximum too. If price will be $100,000 as you have said, there will be no any single bitcoin casino which will have 0.001BTC minimum bet size rule.

Since a majority of gamblers in the bitcoin community uses just really small amounts like 1 to 100 Satoshi then they would be practically gambling about $0.001 to $0.1 per bet if the prices are $100,000. If it's a million dollars each bitcoin, then the price of 100 satoshis would be $1.

So assuming that each bet would be 100 times bigger than today. Also maybe bitcoin casinos would be hesitant even to give a few satoshis as for their faucet.

I'm not really a gambling supporter , In fact I'm totally against gambling but If that scenario ever happens , I don't think anyone would keep gambling , at least not in a website ... people may find it hard to trust a gambling website for such a big amounts and the higher bitcoin goes , the higher chances of "we got hacked" scenarios coming out . (Include both exchanges and gambling services).

This thread does not make any sense. People gamble with Bitcoin not because of its price. They use it because they can hide their identity and they can join the casinos anonymously without providing any private information. Even if Bitcoin price drop down to 1$, there will be always people gambling with it. I have gambled since I 2014 with Bitcoin and I find the its price is not an important issue.

Yes it seems, i mean, even if the value goes to $1,000,000 or $10,000,000

When you bet $10, you are still betting $10, just the different amount of satoshi you are betting but the initial value it's still the same xd

But if it can reach $100,000, to be honest, a 0.1% point change is huge, meaning that the moment your initial $10, could be up or down depends

As long as bitcoin does have value for sure many of us are going to keep on gambling with bitcoin because of its anonymity.

I will just stop gambling with bitcoins if that doesn't have value anymore, of course that is worthless so why still gamble and use it?

I agree with this. The price of bitcoins would really turn those gambling sites to scam sites for sure if it does happen. Also, at those prices, a minimum bet of 1 satoshi would be big. The price increase is not just about the value being the same. There are quite a lot of other effects that would happen if the prices increase to this much.

Some people do gamble because of this exact reason (price and value of bitcoin). The very nature of bitcoin is that divisibility of bitcoin was a major factor in deciding to gamble with bitcoins. Because people could just gamble a very very small amount of money compared to really going into real casinos and other fiat currency casinos.

Why NOT? Its gambling and people will gamble with any amount they feel like whether it is $1 dollar on $100,000 it will still be the same and based on the assumption that if I should win, my money will be multiplied and I will become richer it as simple as that. Anyone who can gamble with $100 dollar today can definitely do it with larger amount if he has the means.

I don't see any problem with bitcoin price and its relation to gambling or using bitcoin to pay for services. If you use bitcoin for gambling now then why you suddenly stop when it will reach higher price?
The only thing that will change is that instead of having bankroll of 0.1 BTC you will lower it to 0.01 BTC or less so it still be the same $XXX amount of money that you always use.

No need to think further, this time gamblers will be punished in my country but they still gamble

I don't know, maybe but not all the time. Give me good reasons why should I gamble?
I can still gamble but needs to consider also the limitations and self-control. What ever be the price of bitcoin, gambling will exist, it is part of bitcoin industry. We have the right and freedom to use it in the way we want.

It doesn't matter, either price go to the moon or dive down, gambling is still gambling. Personally I would still gamble if I have time to gamble.

When it comes to the bitcoin that I will use, just think about how the accounts here in the forum was sold as an example. When the price of bitcoin is low, they are selling it high ( in bitcoin price ) and when the price is at where we are right now, just look at their price, it is very low (again in bitcoin price ) Same as in gambling, if the price of bitcoin is high then your bets in gambling in small amount, and when its low, you bet with bigger amount, as I've said in bitcoin. Always compute your bets in bitcoins value in dollar, that way you won't be funding your bankroll too much.

The same thing as what I'm thinking whatever will be the price of bitcoin still I will continue my gambling activity. And that is going to give me a lot of chances to winning because I can gamble for fewer amount of satoshi's. Also it will make me more sensitive with the amount that I will gamble because each cent(sats) is important if that happens.

If that time happens on which bitcoins price would increase on insane value then sports book or gambling sites would surely decrease or adjust their minimum amount of bitcoins per bet since not all people would definitely like to bet $100 on a single bet since its already high enough to consider maybe it would change in 0.00005 to 0.0001 bitcoin would equivalent on current minimum bet on sports book.

I will definitely continue to gamble my coins even if the price goes up to $100k because for me I still see 1btc as 1btc and not the fiat value.

Also maybe bitcoin casinos would be hesitant even to give a few satoshis as for their faucet.
Casino owners don't have to worry about giving away faucet money if they set up high withdrawal amount. They should adjust the amount while the price increases.

I will continue to gamble but I will reduce my bet amounts. For example, at todays rate I can afford to play with 100k satoshi/day but if someday bitcoin price reached $100,000 I will play with 10 satoshi to 100 satoshi per day.

And yes there is a higher chances of "we got hacked" "we got scammed" scenarios. Admins or devs on a gambling site will be blind on your BTC so they can run away as soon as they gather enough BTC. Some really stay just like some legit and alive sites right now. But there will be a major of changes on there site. Like adjusting minimum bet. Anyways will find out what's the outcome of this thread when conversion of $100k = 1 BTC happens.

These are the answers that should be here and not all those questions about why I am asking this question and answers like I would gamble with lower amounts. For sure you will gamble with lower amounts, but this is not the case here. There are so many effects that are outside of the bet itself. Like how do we deal with the site itself trying to run or declare hacked or scammed? Then another is how about the faucets? For sure sites would give $1 per faucet claim nor would they give 1 Satoshi as faucet. Then for sure they will not be letting you withdraw just one satoshi.

I guess I will intensively gamble more if bitcoin gets that much big price levels because I will be needing to spend very less amount of bitcoins than what right now I am spending. I mean to say I will be getting many more possibilities to gamble again and again. So obviously bitcoin price rise will not stop me from gambling.

Yes. I would, but, only for Dice and only for small amounts, like 1 - 1,000 satoshis per bets. It's easier to win in Dice and the minimum bets are really low unlike other casino games.

For example: In Slots, where minimums could be 2.5 mbtc per spin, or in Roullette where it's 1 - 5 mbtc per bet/number.

So, going with your calculations that would be $250/spin on Slots and
$100 - $500/number on Roullette.
That's just crazy and there's no way the majority of gamblers can afford that.(including myself)

Why to stop gambling just because of the increase in price of bitcoin. When price increase happens the betting value will be reduced based upon our ability to withstand. Other than that giving up of gambling won't take place with most of the users, because nowhere one gets such an ease of access to gamble.

It's all the same, people that want to gamble will gamble no matter what price bitcoin is trading at. They will just gamble with smaller quantities.. I dont see what the problem is. And even if you get rich by holding BTC for 10 years, you will still want to gamble, rich people gamble a lot too, in fact the richer you are the more you gamble, look at mayweather or dan bilzerian and all those guys.

when the price of bitcoin will increase too much then the casino owners will try to maintain the level and will lower down the amount of bet so there will be not any problem to continue gambling with bitcoin as at that time we will need to put a smallest fraction to gamble.

Gambling would be my last idea if I have 1 mln Euros (or dollars).

I agree and I would also continue gambling using Bitcoins no matter how high the price goes. That's right people will start depositing a less amount to gamble with and as I also currently use Dogecoins to bet with as well, I agree that people can buy Dogecoins if they want to bet lower then say $1.

I don't see a reason why a gambler wouldn't still continue gambling. The gambler might just gamble with less amount of btc or aim for a smaller amount in terms of BTC he wants to make but, He would still continue with it as long as he is not out of BTC to gamble with.

People does like to gamble, but the most of them are searching to reach a goal, thats why they risk their money gambling, but as you achieved your main goal, lets say 100k dollars and bitcoin reach those value, i would stop gambling instant. Im not addicted neither do risk my coins with gamble, nothing above 100-2000 satoshis bets, but knowing their value would make me stop using those ammounts.

Bitcoin is now a currency of bitcoin because the owners have realized that with bitcoin they can earn high with their casino and members will also not leave gambling with bitcoin because bitcoin is anonymous currency and gamblers will not like to show their identity and will continue with bitcoin.

In fact the price of bitcoin would not have to change the habits of a true lover of gambling. There will always be an opportunity to gamble whether the price of bitcoin is $10,000 or $1 because gambling has always existed since the beginning of mankind.

Sure, why not?  It's already been pointed out that you can split up a bitcoin right down to a satoshi, and as long as transaction fees stay proportional (don't know about if that's true), and if the casinos will accept really small amounts of bitcoin, then why the hell not?  But I think something else will probably come along for specific use as a gambling coin.  You know there are already casinos that take doge and litecoin.  Those aren't ever going to reach $1m.

I hate working and I hate having to commute everyday. I hope BTC rises to the sky soon so I can abandon this boring torture of a lifestyle otherwise i'll just blow my brains off when I turn 40.

If the price of bitcoin is $100,000

0.001BTC/1mBTC/100,000Satoshi = $100
0.0001BTC/0.1mBTC/10,000Satoshi = $10
0.00001BTC/0.01mBTC/1,000Satoshi = $1

1 Satoshi = $0.001

Of course people will still gamble. It will be the perfect time to spend your bitcoins now especially for some people who have waited for so long before enjoying their coins. The better question would be how big will the casinos and sportsbooks become if bitcoin reaches $100k?

Good luck with that. Invite me to your funeral. If you're just waiting and not doing anything then you would most likely not be rich by 40. Another thing is that your response is not responsive to the question. You replied to an non-existent questions which is "what would you do when the prices raised to $100,000"

When that time comes that the price of bitcoins will be $100,000 will you still gamble in casinos and sports books?

If the price of bitcoin is $100,000

0.001BTC/1mBTC/100,000Satoshi = $100
0.0001BTC/0.1mBTC/10,000Satoshi = $10
0.00001BTC/0.01mBTC/1,000Satoshi = $1

1 Satoshi = $0.001

Of course people will still gamble. It will be the perfect time to spend your bitcoins now especially for some people who have waited for so long before enjoying their coins. The better question would be how big will the casinos and sportsbooks become if bitcoin reaches $100k?

True, those waiting for it to happen will indeed try to gamble some of that money they waited for so long to grow. But the casinos might run away the money they have in their casinos. When it multiplies by 100 times the amount currently for sure a lot of casino owners will be tempted to find an escape strategy.

I think that is the time to stop using my bitcoins to gamble instead i will start selling my bitcoins in the market. That is one of the reasons i am signing for signature campaign. I want to save bitcoins for the future maybe use or sell it so I can have a big profit out of it. But i think many people will be more get addicted to gambling, it is obvious because it has a high price.

It doesn't matter, a gambler is always a gambler, whether by hook or by crook, they will still gamble, I do the same... Actually price of bitcoin won't really change gamblers mind... But for sure the gambling site will make a lot of changes like lowering their minimum bankroll deposit for the gamblers to really afford without protesting...  :)

the higher bitcoin price the bigger people desire to make their money doubled through gambling, i guess it would be a new phenomenon if bitcoin price reached a very high price like that, the bitcoin casinos would become more popular . and it could drive to a mass spending, rather than just to hold bitcoin people would try to gamble and make it double.

if it is profitable, maybe I'll use it. but with values as high as it is, I might be more inclined to save bitcoin I have because bitcoin prices are high. I believe at that bitcoin is very difficult to get. so maybe I will not be frequently gamble in using bitcoin.

I don't think that it could be matter, because if we have bitcoin and if we want to play gambling than definitely we play it even bitcoin would be reached on the top. Now still we can see bitcoin has come $809. So for me, it is already a big amount of bitcoin, but it doesn't mean that now i left the gambling. I mean bitcoin price doesn't matter. we have matter only which amount we can afford it easily in gambling.

i think i will not playing gambling as often as now because i don't want to get loss when i am playing gambling and i think the other gamblers will do the same as me because they only want to make a big winning with their money.

What's the point of this thread ? Regardless of the price hiking (it's hypothetical in your case) it wouldn't change anything except a few digits here and there.

Ofcourse, but no one will obviously be betting the same amount they do now. Personally I would be betting a lot smaller amount but the same dollar worth if that ever happens.

I don't think anyone will stop gambling whether anything would be price . But I am sure if I have 1 btc at the current price , which is above of $600, and then sudden increase in price atleast half of $100000 then I will never think about gambling because this amount is much sufficient to make  real business .

In fact the price of bitcoin would not have to change the habits of a true lover of gambling. There will always be an opportunity to gamble whether the price of bitcoin is $10,000 or $1 because gambling has always existed since the beginning of mankind.
yes it is true that the price of bitcoin is not going to effect my gambling method. i will even continue if the price of bitcoin will raise to any value. i really like like to play gambling using bitcoin and i will continue it for ever.

Whoaaah definitely not. That's serious money and i can spend it on more important things than gambling. Even now i gamblr with minimal amounts of btc's but if it went up to that high, gambling with it won't even cross my mind. I might start doing serious trading and investments though but definitely not gambling. Well i wish we'd be able to see bitcoin reach that amount first and who knows it might :)

Yeah, no matter what will be the value of bitcoin as long as you are an addicted and dedicated gambler you will still going to gamble.

But I guess this will make you more as sensitive gambler as every satoshi's will count now for the value of bitcoin is totally big enough.

you're right, but I do not know, maybe when I have a bit bitcoin, I probably would take the risk to gamble using bitcoin. maybe it is a big risk, will remain if I win, I also get a great bonus, so it could be an alternative when I really needed the money.

even if it raise up to $500,000 people will still gamble using bitcoin, for sure there are no reason for them to stop on gambling because they will still aim for more bitcoin and they will still have more time to play on gambling as they also have enough funds .

What? Of course I would gamble, doesn't matter how much is the price. I know how much I can spend, and gambling is all about that.
I gamble with bitcoins, and I know how much I have and how much I can deposit, in that light its not matter how much is the price.
In this case I can deposit half of mbtc and gamble with satoshis, I have done that.
