This could have been awesome if it was true. Though I believe now is the right time to dump some coins and wait for another dip before buying again. It is already over bought.

I secured profits with like 5% of my coins around the $850 level, and I am now just waiting on the side lines to see what will happen. But then again, how do we know you actually sold like 50%. Will you sell the other 50% at the time the price happens to reach $1000? And if you really bought your coins between $5-$30, why haven't you sold this 50% at the time the price reached its ATH back in 2013?

I sold couple of 100 bitcoins around 800 when it started to fall (2014). After that I made some good and some bad trades.
I decided then that I will sell half of remaining (enough to retire) when it goes above 800 USD. So i did.

Still have enough coins :)

If you were fortunate to be an early investor and sell at close to $900 each coin, you just made a huge profit.
Even if prices continue to climb, you can always buy back in with some of your profits.

Personally I'm happy with just a tiny bit of profit off Bitcoin, so I can imagine its a nice feeling.  ;D

Well the theory is good but when someone points out a dodgy account I tend to believe that side of the story.

The current Bitcoin price is good selling now feels like selling at the bottom of the bubble not the top. Yes the hype is high but when Bitcoin goes past $1000 it will be higher and when it goes to $2000 even higher. Then I would be thinking of selling half.

You did well. You learned so far, that price always comes down from the clouds.  It happened several times so far and will happen now and again in future after future bubbles.

It depends on what your intentions are. If you're just day trading your way through the market right now, then you can make a decent profit in quite a short time. But if you plan to wait for the price to go way over $900 where you cash out again, what would be your aiming price? I personally would just keep holding to at least the $1000 level. If you secure profits at $900-$920 it's not really worthwhile as the chances are high that the price will go up further

i believe that anything above $1000 is going to be an easy route. it would be like a greased up slide that we can easily go through without much friction and as price rises there is too much media attention which will also bring in more investors and cause a bigger rise.

This is the right strategy. You should sell the coins when the prices are going up. Unfortunately, it was something which I could never do. I was too greedy to do any sort of profit booking. As a result, I had to sell most of my coins, when the exchange rate was at the rock bottom (in mid-2015, for around $230 per coin). Still feeling bad about it.

Do you hold shorts? There are about 15K shorts on bitfinex - I am wondering who holds them. I am feeling that this will lead to a nice short squeeze - the volumes on bfx are not what they used to be and 15K of shorts is a lot - it is 5 times the visible asks.

Your thread's title was such that people would think you sell enormous amount of huge collection of bitcoin. What you are doing is simply funny but one thing that we can call truth is that nowdays it's good time to really sell one half of bitcoins and leave one half for yourself because who knows what will happen, maybe price will rise up much faster and much higher, no one knows.

It's just $900, not good enough I think, you should sell it out at $1500-$2000 or when you don't have any savings anymore to pay the bills, then it's okay to sell. Well, everyone have their own decision.

if he have 10000 bitcoin and he already sold for half, its mean he sold 5000 bitcoin and if we calculate with the price $900 x 5000 bitcoin then he gets $4,500,000, i hope my calculation is not wrong. i think he become a rich person right now, and for the other half bitcoin, he can wait for $1500-$2000 and i am sure he will be double the profit.

Mate, majority of the people posting here don't even bother checking in on the facts. They just post, make sure it meets 100 words and get paid! Pretty simple life for most of them. It's a repeat process all the time, just check their other posts. It's pretty darn annoying how all the people posting here have literally tons of the same bullshit level posts and nothing is being done to stop it. All for a few cents.  :'(

OP seems to be an early adopter of bitcoin. Only those people got the chance of buying bitcoin at that low price. If he is an early adopter sure he holds a huge volume of bitcoin compared to the users who were into bitcoin recently or few years back.

Regardless of the profits he would have made with this rally, I'm sorry to say he also will be joining that group of regretting for missing big possible profits in very near future. Because, many experts are speculating $2000 price levels for bitcoins within first quarter of 2017.

The only good thing is, OP might have sold only half of his hoarding. Still, regretting maybe inevitable in coming days.

you can check out his post history, in fact someone did post some examples in one of the previous pages. every time there is a rise he comes here and starts talking about selling, dumping, crashing, etc. don't pay much attention.

the funny thing about this topic is that the subject has changed multiple times. it was first "i sold all my coins" then "i sold all my cold storage coins" and now it is "half" it seems like the amount he sold in past changes with price :D

There are leveraged trading platforms such as kraken and bitfinex.  Shorting implkes they are using shuch a platform, otherwise they would just say "sell".

When you use leverage, you are taking out a loan.  You must pay interest on that loan.  This is a currency swap, not an interest swap.
