I'm going waaaay out on a limb and will say probably 97 - 99% men.  Where's the 'who cares?' option in the poll.
Don't mean to be an ass, but seriously...

this is not the board you are going to pick up one of the 5 girls on here.  Try match.   Or there is that "girl" that advertises in her sig that she does sex talk for BTC, you could try her.

This is something I have wondered myself, my bets are on this forum being a sausagefest.

Also to the poster above, the OP's question could be a legitimate question. I myslef have wondered simply because you would think females would be just as interested, obviously usernames might not give a true impression of the gender ration though. Finding out average ages and so on would also be interesting.

...check...girl!

In fact, I am such an anomaly that some dude I was trying to buy from locally kept calling me sir in the email exchange, even after I told him.

For some reason, women aren't quite as interested in Bitcoin as men are, despite Bitcoin not being targeted at any one gender.

I find this extremely unusual.  Upsetting, even.  So what are women interested in?  What could be more interesting than this?

Women are interested in men that have money.   Therefore, women WILL be interested in Bitcoin; just not yet.

My research seems to indicate that women are mostly interested in Vera Bradley.

FFS Socialist dreams of a bullshit egalitarian world are utter dogshit

Chicks like make-up and dressing up in shoes, jabbering with other girls, pissing and moaning,  soap-operas and my cock. That's all

Through evolutionary stress, men have evolved to have more mental dynamism and logical capability. Bitcoin comes naturally to us.

Hence there are no chicks on Bitcoin.

It's the implicit in the OP. How can anyone not understand why there are hardly any chicks in Bitcoin? It's the same reason there are no chicks doing anything geeky, its because their brains are biologically different.

To question this fact is to further the egalitarian agenda of insidious socialists.

One might argue it's dangerous not to question the fact.  If all I ever rolled with is how you felt, how would I ever find out for myself?  After all, I wasn't asking in rhetoric; I was genuinely curious.  You're not the end-all for the discussion of why women like the things women like.  In fact, there's something very odd about your own agenda; and what are you pushing, exactly?

Ah, fuck it.  You don't have a piss-yellow ignore button for nothing.  Room for one more?

I'm a woman, and someone who is quite interested in Bitcoin. I'm as interested in the currency itself as I am in the culture that surrounds it, in the slow dance it creates in a new user's mind. I was an early adopter, bought a few the day I learned about the concept, then watched the tango evolve.

I found out about Bitcoin through my oldest son, now 18, who mines coin and is a junior at a public university where he is studying physics. It took a young and aware and smart person to explain the concept to me, but I jumped into it with both feet.

Because I have a high school-aged son still at home and have to sling lattes six days a week to meet my bills as a single mom, my Bitcoin pile is in the one-handed digits. But it exists! And I have used the currency to purchase a few things along the way, and will continue to do so.

Most new technologies have male early adopters. When I was a school girl, I was not encouraged to study math and science, even though I have a natural aptitude. Teachers suggested that I considered a career as a teacher, or maybe a nurse. I didn't feel challenged, dropped out of school, had a life full of all kinds of things, but had to find the math and science in my heart and self-educate myself along the way. Last fall I went back to school, thirty years after my high school graduation, and am studying astronomy and calculus and all of the wondrous subjects I thought were beyond my capabilities.

Girls today have more support and encouragement to go into the sciences, but it is still not an equal playing field.

Why not take this disparity between the genders and teach a woman you know about Bitcoin? I've been teaching my female friends, and some have continued to educate themselves.

The world is changing, so quickly, in ways we couldn't have imagined even ten years ago. If others aren't aware of the advantages of Bitcoin, we can only blame ourselves. Get out there and speak.

Actually, any line of work is a quick buck. You sell your time for dollars and phone sex girls use their voice to have fun. I am also an IT geek, a web developer, a graphic artist, and a programmer. I find making $120 per hour as a Domme much more fun and fulfilling than being a drone for another person.

I'm a tgirl and have been offered plenty of webcam streams, etc. I turned them all down because I'm not a slut. I even know "tranny" porn is by far the most lucrative niche of the cam whore market. Still, what makes people think that money means anything in terms of what it does to a person's psyche and spirituality? I always ask myself, if my parents or grandparents saw me doing this, would it make them proud? If you take that to the next level, and if you are spiritually adept, you can extend that line of thinking to "am I making a good example of humanity if I were to let God peer through my eyes?" I'm engaging in ego-centric animalistic behavior, how barbaric!

^_^

Edit: and I checked Female :) Thanks for asking GENDER and not SEX.

I'm going waaaay out on a limb and will say probably 97 - 99% men.  Where's the 'who cares?' option in the poll.
Don't mean to be an ass, but seriously...

The ongoing survey of Bitcoin users (here) has some intriguing results already: The
'average Bitcoin user' is male (96%), 32.7 years old, libertarian /
anarcho-capitalist (37%), non-religious (61%), with a full time job
(43%), and is in a relationship (56%). The biggest motivation
for new users are curiosity, profit, and politics; and 39% of users do
not drink, smoke, gamble, or take drugs. Just over half of users have
mined bitcoins and the greatest community fear for Bitcoin is
“regulatory/legal intervention” followed by ”reputation problems”.
Overall more people seem to find Bitcoin intellectually rewarding (70% have learned more about cryptography) than socially rewarding (22% have made friends)....

Does the 96% being off by 1% of my guess fall into the margin of error of that survey?  :)

.. and I did go ahead and vote in the poll too.  I'm such a hypocrite!

The thing I found is, there will be girls who won't give a shit, but there are also girls that will lie on these polls and say they're men so they don't get creepy stalkers after them, or they'll put it on their profiles that they're men lol :D You won't ever find out how many girls are actually on the internet for sure never mind Bitcointalk, not unless the polls are 100% anonymous anyway but even then.

This +1000

On most games I end up playing as a dude so the undersexed teenage males won't make stupid jokes over and over.  Sadly a lot of girls like that behavior.

Don't worry about it; I understand you completely.  Bonker's bonkers, wrapped up in his own delusions of what people are, like male is one race, and woman is another, completely inseparable.

Generally speaking, more males.

The problem is that it's a terrible idea to start this topic, nevermind any sexist implications that would come from adding such a terrible idea to this topic.
