Title: Can we stop the obsession with prices? Post by: Phantai on April 12, 2013, 02:53:40 AM This is mostly directed towards people who have discovered Bitcoin within the last few weeks. It's great that the word is getting out there, and I'm glad to see people jumping on the bandwagon, but there's a lot more to the currency than just its price. Bitcoin is the first completely decentralized, peer-to-peer currency, which allows people to transfer exorbitant amounts of money from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the world with nearly non-existant transaction fees. P2P loans, smart contracts via blockchain, and long-term deflation are in the future for this currency. Let's not obsess over the short term volatility of people moving huge sums of money in and out of the economy.
