Title: [ANN][No reservations] First coin of the X-Series: "Segments"
Post by: Zeroxal on January 10, 2017, 04:14:22 PM

Proudly announcing the first coin of the upcoming X-Series: Segments

After almost half a year of work, I'm glad to announce my first coin. The first coin of the X-Series will have the iconic "X" as the main design element along with segmented "spikes" representing the rise and drop of bitcoin. A one of a kind coin in the market.

There will be many more variations of this series to come.

Specifications
  • 1 troy ounce 0.999 silver
  • 40mm diameter
  • Preloaded with 0.1 Bitcoins(only the full golden one)

These coins will come in the following three variants:
  • Plain silver - only 25 serial numbered for sale
  • Partly 24k gold plated - only 25 serial numbered for sale
  • Full 24k gold plated - only 10 serial numbered for sale

Pricing
  • Plain silver: 0.1BTC
  • Full 24k gold plated: 0.2BTC

All prices include funding. ONLY the full gold variant will be funded, the other two will only come preassembled.

Shipping
  • EU: Free (tracked)
  • US: Free (untracked)

Tracked shipment to the US will cost an additional 0.02 BTC. Other shipping couriers or wishes can be discussed individually.

Vanity addresses
All the coins will be delivered with a vanity address which is generated according to type and serial number. If you have a coin that has a "0" as serial number it will be replaced with a "o", because of character restrictions.

Some examples:
  • The silver coin with the serial #1 from the first X-Series will start with "1X1Ago1"
  • The silver coin with the serial #10 from the first X-Series will start with "1X1Ag1o"
  • The silver coin with the serial #22 from the first X-Series will start with "1X1Ag22"
  • The partly gold plated coin with the serial #22 from the first X-Series will start with "1X1GP22"
  • The full gold plated coin with the serial #10 from the first X-Series will start with "1X1Au10"

These addresses will be generated using a fully offline and custom Linux USB drive, then encrypted and exported to an old mac, which will be formatted and used solely for printing these keys through a laser printer. All of this will be done fully offline. The USB will be destroyed upon successful export (burned?). These printed keys will be sprayed with an "Aerospray" to ensure that the keys will be readable after centuries.

Delivery schedule
These coins are currently being minted, so please keep this in mind. I expect to be able to ship to everyone by the end of February, but this is an estimate. This thread will be updated accordingly along with pictures of the coins final version and a picture of the created holograms.

Extras
A FREE DIY token will come along each coin purchase! I'll create a separate thread for those. All coins will come in an airtite capsule and will be enclosed in a small Xerola box. By request the box can be replaced with a velvet pouch.

What will the Xerola box look like?

They're looking great! Glad to see a finished product coming to the market soon. I'm more curious about that last tidbit of information in the OP though. "Unique secret projects" really grabs your attention.

The coin looks great! I really like the simplistic design :)
Regarding the price, does that include the funding amount or is that an addition?
Thanks

Full 24k gold plated - only 10 serial numbered for sale
Are the lowest 10 serials gold plated or did you have something else in mind? I couldn't quite figure out how the distribution between the three versions was planned.

Just to clear confusions:
Each coin will have a XX/25 serial number, but the full gold plated will have a XX/10 serial number, making it extremely rare.

Are all the 3 coin sets currently reserved?

There are still some silver and partly gold plated available to reserve here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1747532.0
All fully gold plated ones have been reserved, so there is no way to get a full set other than future auctions of 1 and 2.
Sets 1 will be auctioned and set 2 will be raffled.

A few more pictures have been added to OP. Laser engraving the serials was a huge mistake in my opinion, serials look burnt and brown... Definitely going to change the serializing procedure next batch.

A quick update: the coins will be with me in the next few days, holograms will come the following week. Will update the thread with better photos once they arrive.

Coins are with me now. I will shoot some pictures and update OP with them. Holograms will be here before March. I expect the coins to ship out in the beginning of March. I will also post another thread for the token sales.

Funding has been changed: only the full gold plated ones will be prefunded, the others will be preassembled.

oh so price per set goes down by 0.2 ?

Sounds interesting
so are they in boxes or acrylic slabs ?

Edit : I see they will  originally come in boxes but slabs can be chosen

What do you mean by the pouch ?
Also, can you tell which numbers have mark on them?

Can we request the full gold to be non-funded??

I would also prefer a full set of non funded coins.

As per request none of the coins will be funded.
Upon further inspection I noticed some gold highlighting from the coins have come off, once again not sure if it was the manufacturers or the customs fault. I have contacted the manufacturer regarding the matter, they told me that the coins might have gotten to much direct light outside of the capsule.

I'm sure I'll never use this manufacturer ever again. A huge disaster.

Sorry to hear about the manufacturer, that blows.

But we will still be looking forward to your coins :)

thanks!

Direct sunlight will ruin the gold-plating on a coin? Didn't know that. (You learn something new everyday, right?)

Really, how long could the coins have been exposed to direct sunlight in the short time between minting and packaging? It's very hard to believe that a mint employee would lug the box of coins outside, spread them out in a single layer on the back steps, and leave them to bake in the sunlight all afternoon. I'm inclined to think the fault is not sunlight, but poor quality control inside the mint. (But I could be wrong. Often am.)

Hopefully, the mint will fix everything soon.

Regards,
Me

Noticed another major flaw:
The back and front of the coin aren't aligned properly. The coin looks a bit off in the acrylic frame...

I'll upload some pictures tomorrow and I'll let you judge yourself.
But all in all the coins look amazing in person, you get to see the coin very differently at every angle. I'll try my best time  to capture the best possible photo showing it's beauty.

I'm very sorry for this mess. The manufacturer is trying to push all the responsibilities to import customs check.

I agree with BPC and think that sucks they are pushing responsibility over to the import customs check.   :'(

OP has been updated with some quick pictures of the DIY token and the coin. I didn't have much time to photograph them, so I apologize for the ultra low quality photos. I didn't take the silver ones out of the capsule due to the current discussion between me and manufacturer, I don't want them to blame me for not handling the coins properly and therefore causing imperfections on the coin.
I'm still waiting for the holograms to get manufacturered, they told me that they will be with me before March.

Thank you!
I am currently getting the keys printed and are figuring out a way to have both durable and detailed print quality. But I think I will use a standard inkjet printing along with a coating spray to fix the ink to the paper.
