- Yancy Medeiros was expected to face Li Jingliang at the event. However in early January, Medeiros pulled out for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by promotional newcomer Bobby Nash.

I was really impressed with the performance of Valentina Shevchenko against Holly Holmes as i really did not know who Valentina Shevchenko was when the match was scheduled and so i wagged my money on Holly Holmes and that made a huge mess on my bank roll ,but now i know how she could perform and i will wage my bet on Valentina.
 

The matches i am looking for in this card are Donald Cerrone vs  Jorge Masvidal and with the current form of Donald Cerrone in the welterweight division i would not dare to bet against him,Shevchenko is a good fighter with a good kick boxing record and she recently defeated Holy Holmes and so my bet would be with Shevchenko rather than Pena.
 

This is a nice fight between the no.1 and no.2 in the women's bantam weight division. I do not know what the odds are yet but Julianna Peña might be the favorite in this fight but not by much. Valentina should be more aggressive and try to change it up from a counter puncher to aggressor once in a while.

Yup!  Watching Cerrone in any MMA event is always good.  He's one of my favorite fighters of all time.  He seems relaxed and always cool.  I can't wait for the weigh-ins and the stare downs this weekend.

Andre Arlovski last tasted victory was Sep 5, 2015 and then after that, he lost all 3 consecutive fights. Unlike his opponent on this fight, looking at his UFC profile, 4 straight wins. Andre Arlovskis last matches are not impressive from Round 1 and Round 2 TKO's and a submission. I'll put my money on Francis Ngannou for this fight.

You really cannot count out Andre Arlovski's punching power as he could knock you out with a punch but i am impressed with the performance of Francis Ngannaou but the problem is i am not sure how his stamina would hold if the fight stretches to the third round as i have seen Francis tiring in the later rounds as a loss here for Andre Arlovski would be his last in the UFC.

Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Peña are really good fighters and i was really impressed and lost the respected bets :D as i never expected those performance by both .The way in which Shevchenko out boxed Holly Holmes who was a world champion made me realize that the women division has got some good talents and Julianna Pena surprised me with her wrestling when she faced Cat Zingano. The winner of this match will face the champion pretty soon.

Hey guys watch Juliana Pena in action in this video and notice her style.  I think she could a bad match up stylistically for Shevchenko .  I don't think Shev will be able to handle her when it gets to the ground.  I seldom outwardly predict how exactly an MMA fight ends but in this fight, I'm somewhat confident that Pena could win via GnP (TKO) in the first or second round.

I can't wait to see both Shev and Pena fight it out in the octagon.  The winner (either way) should be a good match up against the champ Amanda Nunes, unlike the very much hyped Rousey.  Anyway here's an episode of The Road to the Octagon for this event.  Enjoy!  :)

@Lucas. Do not count Juliana Peña out. While I agree with you that Valentina Shevchenko could win because she has good take down defense, I am afraid Juliana will give it her all and be relentless in her assaults. She will take Valentina down and when she does that is where her opponent's problems will start. Valentina is weak on the ground.

I dont know the fighters on the main event. I dont know how they fight. But the co-main event is what i like to see. I will go for Cerrone in this fight. Heres the list of my bets

@deadsilent. If you do not know the fighters in the main event then why do you have a good prediction? It is like you really know them but do not have the confidence to declare your pick and at what method Juliana Peña will win. I would make the same bet but the safer bet would be Juliana inside the distance.

I'm putting my money on Cowboy Cerrone. He has been doing good lately. Not only a good fighter but also showing good sportmanship in and out of the octagon. He had a good 2016 with all four fights getting a win and 3 of them awarded as "permance of the night". Not gonna be surprised if he will headline again in one of UFCs events.

i did not know that Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena posted these images  :D they are hot without any doubt ;D i am picking Valentina Shevchenko to win the match.
Donald Cerrone vs. Jorge Masvidal, even though Jorge Masvidal challenged Donald Cerrone for the match up i will be picking Cerrone to win the match
Andrei Arlovski   vs. Francis Ngannou , with the hype Francis Ngannou is having and with the fragile chin of Andrei Arlovski i would pick Ngannou to win the match even though he has not been tested with a high caliber fighter.

Couple of hours left for the main card fights and i hope i will win some here as i am gunning for Julianna Penna to win the match as i feel she can take Shevchenko down and control the fight in the ground and i like the odds and i would like to go with Andrei Arlovski to win the match as Francis Ngannou has never faced a top level fighter like arlovski till now and so that is an advantage for Arlovski and the odds are good.

If the fight was really a battle for sexiness then my pick is Valentina Shevchenko. She is sexier and her face, especially the eyes is like that of a porn star. Another very sexy fighter with porn star eyes is Meisha Tate.

Unfortunately Donald Cerrone was beaten by Jorge Masvidal and it looks like Masvidal did not have a hard time beating Cerrone. I thought that in the second round Cerrone will catch up but Masvidal proved that he is  a better fighter that night and dropped Cerrone in the second round. During the break between 1st and 2nd round Cerrone doesnt look good when being checked by the in-house doctors.

Shevchenko put down Pena. It was a good match to watch. But it took everything that Shevchenko had to do it.
It was funny seeing Nunez in the audience watching the fight and at the end of it standing up saying you want me next? Bring it! You can't handle my knock out strikes! :D

We'll see.  Shev will force the clinch vs Nunez, I think as she hates getting clinched.  Notice in her fights, everytime Nunez gets in a clinch she usually limps her arm and pulls out.  Shev will not allow this and try to fight Muay Thai style.  Clinching and knees to the body.

Donal Cerrone just got rocked by Jorge Masvidal and he defeated him easily ,Jorge Masvidal used to pull back in fights and i never thought he would be this aggressive against Cerrone and the problem with Donal Cerrone is that he starts really slow and that back fired as he started putting pressure from the start and that was his downfall ,Shevchenko surprised me with her ground game and i expected her to win the match.

As expected i won my bet with  Valentina Shevchenko and  Francis Ngannou but lost my bet with Donald Cerrone as Jorge Masvidal came up with an impressive performance to shut Cerrone and knock him out,i thought Cerrone could ride his winning streak in the division,Shevchenko will be facing Amanda Nunes for the belt and it is going to be an interesting match as she defeated Pena on the ground and defeated Holmes with counter striking.

With the impressive win from Valentina Shevchenko she will be facing the champ and she could pose a challenge to Nunes as her last match was a close one in which Nunes winning and Francis Ngannou will be facing Overeem or JDS next as he is calling them out for a fight ,i think Alistair Overeem would be his next match up.

Yup it's something about her right shoulder being semi dislocated or something.  It's funny how Shev is now saying 'I am complete fighter, I am not only striker'. Lol like she has something to prove.  She doesn't but it's good to see her win via a submission.  Now between her and Nunes, I'm for Shev.  I honestly can't stand Nunes and the way she acts like she wants to be the next fighter to get a status the same as McGregor or Rousey.

It is not really that funny because Shevchenko took Julianna Penna to the ground when Penna initiated striking and finished her on the ground and it was a really good match and she is a kickboxing legend.Amanda Nunes is not being promoted by the UFC that much even if you look at her match against Ronda Rousey all the focus and promotion was on Ronda and not the champion and she is the first openly gay MMA fighter ,she has a good story and they have to promote her just like they did with Rousey.

Nunes said in the after fight "I know how to beat you"
but I think Shev wins.

5 round fight is in Shev´s advatage. In their first match up Nunes could not finish Shev on the ground in rounds 1 and 2 and Shev was the one on top in round 3. Nunes was gassing. I think Shev will win via UD.


It would be interesting to know what caused the injury to pena. Maybe Shev´s MT clinch is really strong and kind of pushed something out, or on one of those hard sweeps.

The biggest disadvantage of Amanda Nunes is her stamina as she gasses out after the first round because of that if the fight goes to the later rounds it is hard for her to keep up the pace and all of her loses came when the fight is dragged to the later rounds and her fight with Valentina Shevchenko was a close match and if it was a 5 round fight she will definitely win the match as she was dominating her in the later rounds and in the fight against Pena i just heard that she is saying something about her shoulder after the first round ,Shevchenko took her down while in the clinch and that may have injured her shoulders,it was a beautiful sweep but everyone forgets that she is a black belt in Judo.
