Title: Using Bitcoin and altcoins when under 18
Post by: adam440 on January 19, 2017, 03:56:14 PM
Hello,
I'm wondering how can you trade with bit/altcoins when you're under 18 years old. I currently need to transfer some ethereum coins (earned by mining) to bitcoin and eventually to real cash. I know that you can use LocalBitcoins.com, however you can only trade bitcoin here. How about altcoins?

Thanks.

you can try poloniex or bittrex for altcoin trading, i don't remember bittrex asking for any minimum age for trading, nor they can't prove it, because they don't even require document for trading that do not involve fiat

I don't remember being asked about my age when I register on exchange sites, I have register to almost all exchange but I have never been asked for IDs as well.
They know we all wanted privacy that is why we are using cryptocurrencies, the only problem you can encounter is cashing out btc from websites that asks for IDs.

Try the reputable people here in the forum, some of them buy BTC through paypal. I said reputable so be careful trading with someone,  its like sharing an information and at the same time paypal can be disputed.

Local bitcoins would be an option for cash, but other than that there are some debit cards that allow ordering physical cards with no ID verification; feel free to check out my thread List of bitcoin debit cards (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1242788.0) Perhaps you could also use P2P trades to receive funds in something like a paypal account but that's the most risky.

I don't think the altcoin exchanges require a minimum age, I can't remember seeing anything when signing up.  I think you would struggle trying to turn it into cash as most require an id or there are other options as previously mentioned.

Bitcoin is for the masses old and young 😀

You need to different exchange where exactly the altcoin is listed it's better to find them in coinmarketcap.com. So that you will get any idea on which exchange the altcoin listed there you can convert your altcoin into bitcoin by calculating your profit on it you can convert in exchanges and you withdraw to your desired bitcoin address.

So if I convert only ETH/BTC for example on Poloniex, there shouldn't be problems? And how about BTC/USD? I currently don't want to convert it to USD but just in case.

You can trade BTC and altcoins at any age. Some exchanges require you to accept TOS, where it's written that you have to be over certain age, but it won't really matter to them if you're not. The only problem you might have is if the exchange gets hacked or loses your funds, because in such case they could ask for an ID and bank account/ address to repay you. Also if they lose your money it will be hard to get it back (TOS violation on your part).

You will not face any problem as long as you have eth coins with you because if there is no coin with you how can you convert them into btc, same as with btc/usd also you convert and withdraw them. But you need to withdraw them to the option provided by the exchange.

The majority of altcoin exchangers don't require a verification by uploading government ID to allow you to start your trading activities there but, if you're going to increase the limit then they will require.
The opposite happen to the bitcoin exchangers which accepting some kind of bank transfers and credit card, they will strictly require verification ID to prevent from any fraud transaction.
And as you said, it's right that you must accept their TOS if you have desire to use their service and the TOS may vary for every exchangers.

Short answer: Yes
Long answer: Yes you don't have to be 18 years old to purchase or sell bitcoin. I'm currently 15 and I never ran into roadblocks of buying bitcoin or alt coins. You can buy bitcoins at any age. Although if you're going to turn physical cash into bitcoin or you're going to turn bitcoin into physical cash you're going need a parent's or guardian's bank account.

You're welcome. I hope this answered your question.

because your age still under 18 then probably you don't have personal ID however that should be no problem in poloniex as long as your transactions equally $2000 or less i think they will never ask personal ID to able to withdraw your bitcoin but if you want to withdraw huge amount of bitcoin verify your account is necessary but you could ask favour to your family or to someone who have poloniex with verify account

You know theres a lot of exchangers over the internet. Poloniex, c-cex, yobit, bittrex, bitfinex, mtgox, kraken and others. Those are exchangers which you can exchange your altcoin to bitcoin and make it cash. Just pick one. Some exchange are centralized. You need id to verify your account. But there are exchange which are decentralized. Just search it on google😎

Many exchanges are there where you can exchange your altcoin into bitcoin, but before that they will send confirmation email to concerned registered email regarding on withdrawal. I hope there is no obligation for people who are below 18 years, even below 18 years will register as above 18 years and they will start trading who know what's their exact age is.

yes that is not a big problem i think. and it think bitcion also  have no concern with age. i think bitcoin is created for the purpose to be use as online currency, therefore i think there is no restriction on any one to use currency. in relay life i  we can see that children use money that they get from their parents to buy something from local shops therefore i never think that there is any restriction on the people who are under 18 to use bitcoin.

The main thing is we don't read all TOS terms and condition before registering, just simply we will hit submit button. Many exchanges will specify this age restriction in their site, because the owner of exchange should not be in trouble it seems.

Do exchange sites implementing age limit? If thats the case. You should go to decentralized exchange.
Afaik. Exchange sites dont require any document to identify the trader and his age. But if youre not allow to trade. Decentralized exchange is youre only choice. Bitsquare is a good decentralized exchange. You should try it.

I had some doubts about that, but this clarifies some things. And with regard to exchanges, in fact the occurrence of such events could make things difficult for people who are not willing to provide more information, and the possibility of such scenarios should not be underestimated... even exchanges considered reliable can go through problems. No one imagined what would happen to Bitfinex what happened last year, for example.

I don't trade od Bittrex but I checked their site and I found this:

What are the different levels of verification?

"We support two types of accounts.

Basic accounts can trade up to $2000 or digital currency equivalent per day
Enhanced accounts have no trade limits and have access to our fiat markets once they are available"

How do you verify accounts?

"Basic accounts require users to submit their name, address, and birth date to us.  We verify it through public records.
If we can verify you through public records, we will accept your application for a basic account.  If we cant, you will need to apply for an advanced account."

And now I am not sure abut this statement: What does it mean they verify it through public records? What public records they are talking about?

The reason why I guessed the very rampant age restrictions about bitcoin is really about the vices someone might get exposed to in this crypto world such as scams, gambling which have to come along with taking responsibility that is lacking in kids. But at the same time since bitcoin is about anonymity then there is really no need for whether one is underage or not. When a site is asking for too much details about me, age inclusive, I just move on to the next site offering the same service.

You're welcome. I hope this answered your question.

The articulate and astute answer from the 15 year old is rational. There was another answer that gave an example of children and teenagers using money to purchase things in a store. They didn't need a parent with them. Now, if a 7 year old brought in two thousand dollars in cash to Fry's to buy a gaming computer, any reasonable person would locate his parents, or call the authorities.

I think the issue is converting it to cash and yes, you can have your parent or guardian set it up for you and then name you as ITF (In Trust For.) Of course the parent or guardian could take money out of there without your permission. Maybe they will let you have an ATM card. You might also look into converting the BTC into a gift or pay card.

There is nowhere that says it is illegal to trade bitcoins or Alt Coins under the age of 18.
However, if you read the TOS of a website, you will notice that most require you to be 18 years or older. You agree to these, so you are bound to them. As someone mentioned earlier. if they were hacked and gave refunds, then that would require identification. Taxes also can affect this, because of capital gain.

well polo also not asking for any other info as far as i know if you have valid emails you can create accounts and trade the only thing is if happen that you got some issue with legalities, if your funds got freeze and you need to provide personal info that is a problem with that but as long as you are willing to risk you can still do trading.

In the hypothetical scenario  ;) that I was under 18, I would be using Poloniex for trades between Bitcoin and altcoins.  You're meant to be 18 but they don't ask for ID unless you need to withdraw more than $2000 a day, which a hypothetical under 18 person would not need to do.

As for the person's wallet they could use Blockchain and manage to buy some Bitcoin with the third party Coinify in the wallet with their debit card details, but fees are pretty high and idk if they would do it that way later.  Also most ways of getting Bitcoin for free are pretty much anonymous, maybe taking your email or something.

Can't this just be done in an website exchanger like shapeshift or jaxx?
They change it for you automatically. Then to cash out get a debit card that allows you to loan then just go to any atm and pay their fee to withdraw. That simple! ;D
None of this age verification crap for what you want is your right to have in the first place. :P

Trading with altcoins doesn't really require a minimum Age as long as you dont need to give away your Birthday to Exchange sites.
Exchanging BTC to fiat might be harder to accomplish. But this also depends from your payment method.
But you can always buy Gift cards for BTC on this forum for example.

LocalBitcoins.com require you to have a bank account in order to trade easier. If you want to sell your Bitcoin without this trouble, you can go outside and find some exchange in your country. Otherwise, you can meet them directly and start a p2p trade. Being friendly on social media will help you to gather information about trusted Bitcoin buyers

there is no problem to register at bitcoin exchanges even if you are 10 yr old-there is no age everification
there is no problem to withdraw bitcoins or altcoins either
BUT if you want to withdraw fiat-it is a whole different story- you would be asked for documents proving your identity
either a driving license or a passport+utility bill for address proof,in the US you will have to pay taxes too

Paypal is the worst payment system to sell bitcoins for as it is easily reversible
there is a special caste of e-bay scammers that are "buying" bitcoins for Paypal, they even go first on the transfer, only to reverse the payment imemdiately
when they get bitcoins in their wallets

Depends on how he could get the capital to start on trading. If he's still counting on his parents which are already burdened to fulfil his daily needs then it's definitely wrong ( honestly fine if he could manage to always earn profit LOL ).
But I'm a bit confused on how the government make a decision to whether charge him a tax or not due to his age and the money he could earn.

Yes, till now there is no specific restriction on bitcoin usage because we don't how many people are using below age under 18.As Bitcoin is not traceable and is not controlled by the government. If it controlled by the government than there is some age restriction for bitcoin usage and even same with altcoin also.

Most sites that accepts the minimum of 18 years as a pre-requisite to trade, does so in my opinion simply because of the fact that that is the age of being an adult in most countries and because they also want to protect themselves from offering services to minors. But in my own way, I believe the moment you can own up to actions then you are good to go and for someone who is able to be exposed and earn some bitcoins, to me irrespective of age, that is taking responsibility.

Yes true, bitcoin and altcoin are the same as real money, anyone is free to earn, save and use. The most important is do not use it for illegal transactions such as the purchase of drugs, weapons, and more.

Yes but actually gaining Bitcoin is a different matter.

Unfortunately you can't really use exchanges as nearly all them try to verify your age in some way and if you were found out it would be a problem.

I think that most altcoin exchanges don't actually verify your age, whether or not they suggest that you should be over 18.  In that case, you could buy Bitcoin with a debit card (which services occasionally allow without ID for small amounts), or an altcoin if that's more convenient and you can keep away from scams, and you could trade it pretty well.

In the spirit of Bitcoin's privacy, most services won't verify your age and you should be OK.

Yes, I don't see any age limit for using bitcoin and altcoin because nobody doesn't know with whom we are chatting in the exchanges. There are many people who are using bitcoin and altcoin under 18 years old, even though exchanges ask for age 18, but people do not bother about rules and agreement.

You won't get any problem trading Bitcoin or alt coins to real money they will not ask for your age. That's the good thing about Cryptocurrency  because as long as you know how to use the internet and you know cryptocurrency then you will not have any problem trading it to other crypto or to flat money.

I am sure that if you can be able to be online and make some money in cryptocurrency, you can easily find a good way to encash your Bitcoin or any cryptos. As shown by many ideas from many members here, the age will not matter that much making the internet an equalizer as you can do what you want even if you're 15 or 150. This is one thing I really like being online...it is giving us many choices and options to make a living on a global scale.

Fortunately Bitcoin users often like and offer anonymity on their websites, and if they don't, in most cases you won't have to verify your information and can lie about it (as long as you use a VPN and you're confident that you're not unsafe using their site).

They can also use bitcoin but I think not less than 13yrs old. Maybe 14 year old is also good to use bitcoin so that they can be a responsible person and they will learn how to earn and save money even if it is not bitcoin. But they can actually learn using bitcoin and they can start to earn in bitcoin as well.

There are no age limits in crypto, that can be legally enforced.
I mean there might be restrictions and proof of ID for over 18 products but anyone can spend cash even a kid in the candy store.
So my answer is no legal reason to restrict the flow of finance.
(For Trading well no clauses kids may not be legally responsible but they would still need to provide proof of age before using the service with a banking account, on the crypto only side well it doesn't matter since they still would need to convert)

I do not think there is currently any age-limiting regulation in bitcoin and altcoin so far the management of bitcoin system doesnt set age restrictions on its activity, since bitcoins are made indefinitely and can not be controlled by any party.

In my opinion person under 18 years old needs a lot of guidance from an older who has a lot of experience. Its because those person whose age is below 18 is considered as not legally appropriate to to government policies and some terms, anyhow the government wont accept legalization to underage personnel and they are required to have some corresponding guardian. On the other hand, learning as early as possible is totally impressive, to think that at a young age they are motivately gifted and talented.

That's true for crypto only use but underage persons have a very limited set of options when it comes to liquidating Bitcoin and the legal fallback they might have is even more limited due to their age and nature of services they are allowed to access.

Oh god! Bitcoin is not like porn or firearms, to ban the participation of those under the age of 18. If a 14-year old is allowed to open a savings account in bank, then he should also be allowed to open an account in any of the crypto-exchanges.

you can try poloniex or bittrex for altcoin trading, i don't remember bittrex asking for any minimum age for trading, nor they can't prove it, because they don't even require document for trading that do not involve fiat

Yes, there is no need for any document showing one's age in trading with Bittrex and Poloniex and one's earnings can be withdrawn via Bitcoin anyway. I guess there are now many teenagers who are also into trading cryptocurrency as they are more agile and more risk-takers. These young people can be the foundation for the next batch of Bitcoiners.

As far as I know, 18+ financial requirements are there because minors can't sign contracts and can never be required to repay a loan or other money owed as a result of a contract. A large part of the financial system revolves around debt.

You can probably trade Bitcoins-Altcoins as much as you want without having more than 18 years.

The only real issue would be to sell Bitcoin to real money.

In this case you would probably need a bank account and you would need to verify your ID on almost all exchanges that allow this kind of transaction.

The solution: Find a P2P seller and sell your coins to them. I always sell my Bitcoins to reputable members on a Brazillian comunity on Facebook and never had any issue. Always be careful while doing a trade with an unknown person. Always do your research and only sell to people you can trust. There are websites that allow you to find people like that. E.g: https://localbitcoins.com

Hello,
I'm wondering how can you trade with bit/altcoins when you're under 18 years old. I currently need to transfer some ethereum coins (earned by mining) to bitcoin and eventually to real cash. I know that you can use LocalBitcoins.com, however you can only trade bitcoin here. How about altcoins?

Thanks.

I'm not so sure about other sites that allows you to transact bitcoin when under 18 years old since most of the sites nowadays wants you to be of legal age due to the nature of your liability once you get into trouble. In my opinion, the best way to earn bitcoin is to join various campaign signatures since one of its pre-requisites is you being fluent in english and posting constructive posts.

DO NOT MAKE THIS MISTAKE. Take it from me, I used to work at CEX.

Its fine for an underage to have bitcoin, at least here. Its property/value; kids can have money all day without breaking any laws. But using a platform is an entirely different beast. The platforms have a liability to protect children from certain content, and prevent them from engaging in activities that might be illegal (say like, trading illegal securities for example). They establish a TOS to protect themselves in this; you usually agree to the terms in order to use the Service. If If you lie about you age, they are under no obligation, legally, to return your funds to you. So if you get locked for a verification check, and you cant provide proper ID, you may not have recourse for obtaining your funds.

which brings me to another thing, lying to an exchange about your age/identity. exchanges follow strict aml/kyc law; they must know who you are in order to accept and hold more than X money from a person. when you lie, you make their job harder, and bring them out of compliance if its found they have lax identification policy. so they have little incentive to help you; you lied, they have your money, and you cant do too much to change any of that.

Ive seen it happen. :-\ Dont fuck around with this, you will be disappointed eventually.

Haven’t heard or read about this,, so if ever you have a link to share with us,, the better for our reference also.. If you have knowledge and available bitcoin or altcoin in hand you are very welcome to participate but the risk of being unaware or inexperienced still high.. It’s better to have guidance from a much older or much experience bitcoin friend you know..

there are many exchange that allowing young people to do trading without sending any of documents. but their account will not reach higher limit to deposit, withdraw or else and maybe they are missed something like 2fa or others. you can trying with poloniex, bittrex, cryptopia, nova exchange, alcurex. you can register in all of these exchange and they don't know if you are under 18 years old or not. maybe my suggestion will come to bittrex than others because in bittrex, its simple and easy friendly for new people.

I use to store their coin purse Xapo. Convenient service but recently, they require verification. For this you need a passport. CEX also requires documents. Probably gradually collects data from all users of bitcoin and in the future the state will be able to control our income in cryptocurrency. Now you can ask to help you friend who is over 18 years of age to register for an account but as soon as governments start to demand payment of taxes you will have problems.

i think here has no any age limit.if we are opening an account it asking our id proof it one is enough.age is not limit to doing trading. few people starting before 18, in 18 and after 18. so age is not limit to doing this type of trading. actually up to now i don't seen any age restrictions on the form. and age is not limit if it is complasary we have to submit our parents like mother or father ID. it is enough.+

Basing it from experience I don't recall any exchanges that ask for identification cards in order to have a functional trading account I have used yobit, poloniex, and bittrex in the past and all of them had worked for me and they never asked my personal info only my email. So in short even if you are still a minor you can trade altcoins in those sites, but before startinv to trade you must learn how to study charts first in order to lessen the risk involve.

I think the digital currency trading as altcoin and bicoin not have rules about age restrictions, but for the security of your wallet better use the original ID to be verified, to anticipate if there are improvements that require ID verification system
yes there is no age limit in using or trading bitcoin or any other currency but still i will like to say that the children who are under 18 they should first complete their study and when they become free then they should try to invest their money in trading bitcoin and alt coin.

I don't see the need for an age restriction nor do I think that any jurisdiction would impose one. Bitcoin is dangerous to use for the young ones and so is money but there is no restriction for anyone under the age 18 which prohibits them of the use of money. Some wallets requires the need of identification but besides that, age shouldn't be a problem. Bitcoin is available for anyone to use regardless of their age and no law should discriminate on that.

Very good point mate. If the trading platform "caught" you cheating their system by lying about your age and all the pertinent information then you are fuck up specially when you are about to withdraw all your funds and can't because they needed verification for KYC/AML complaint. Its no different from gamble sites as well. I remember there was one member here who's account get lock and further investigations show that he is really underage but showing proof of his parents or something like that. He/She wasn't able to withdraw their money because from the very beginning they have  intended to cheat the system.

When bitcoin prevail all over the world then using bitcoin will not for specific limit of age. As all the pope of every age can use their regular currency same they will use bitcoin for anything. Age will never effect on the use of bitcoin. I think it is good for under 18 to use bitcoin because they will learn how to buy, how to sell and how to use and where to use. They will easily make money with bitcoin when they grow up.

There is no trading sites even wallets that requiring age limit, it just like joining any social accounts even children can sign up as long you know how to use it. You are free to input any age what you want during the fill up form because it will not require to submit your birth certificate as proof of age but here in our country we will required to submit government ID when joining our local exchanger to verify our true identity and age.

Trading in Crypto-currency does not require age proof. Being decentralize, BTC is totally unbias to age, gender, color, religion etc.
But yes if you need to convert your crypto-currency to real money like dollar, pound via bank account, you need to be holding a bank account which could only be opened after being 18. You can open a minor's account in bank but that need your parents proof and all the money earned would be taxable for the parents.

If we are going to limit the age of people on bitcoin then the mass adoption is useless. It should be used by anyone who knows and understand how to use it. Ages 12-17 are the people who likes to buy most so bitcoin needs them.

Maybe he meant some verifying account. Because from what i know, you will need to id's to have your account authenticated. And somtimes student id is not valid for any exchange sites that will require verification. Probably op needs to find more services in his country because sometimes those services depends on what is in the country. Since your coins are from mining and you are less than 18 if the exchanges on your country prohibits you from
converting it what you can do is ask your parents to have it converted or a relative to do it for you.

I assume that your parents are aware that you are mining and the source of your coins are legitimate so there will be no problem for that one.

Exactly! I do not remember a time I was required to fill in my age when it comes to handling my Bitcoin accounts because the idea of cryptocurrencies is its anonymity. Of course, you have to have your own bank so you can transfer your Bitcoins through it. What is relevant is your compliance with your bank's requirements (age and etc.) for conversion purposes. But, when it comes to Bitcoins, our identities need not be revealed.

i think he can use his parent identity to register in one bank and he can use the same identity to register in the exchanges. but i think he can register in the exchanges with his identity without his parents and only save his bitcoin in private wallet like in jaxx, mycelium or another so when he is 18 years old and he can have his own bank account. i think there is many ways that he can do to using bitcoin and altcoin and i think he can just save the bitcoin and altcoin for his future and never cash out if he is not 18 years old.

I remember someone told me that before, when he was still starting in bitcoin, he cashes out his money through his mother's bank account. And now he helps me cash out my bitcoins through a remittance centre because I still don't have any valid ID. Student's ID is invalid to use. That is why when he is deciding to cash out, I send my btc to him and gives it to me in an instant.

Well, since bitcoin is decentralized and no one cares about your age because it doesn't matter as long as you know how to use this properly then you will surely make good money. Personally i know a lot of people under 18 are making good money here and help them to support for their studies. So for me cryptocurrency is for everyone and people should take this opportunity to make good money.

Don't think you'll have an issue with exchanges, but the banking part of it. To cash it, you'll need a bank account. I mean in the US, you can get one but your parent has to be on it as well.

As an underage below 18 there are lots of thing that do pop out in our mind which thinking off for long term investment will really be rare and on those ages I'm sure we are always thinking for a new thing to be used on daily basis like cloth, gadgets and other wants since he do know he can able to buy things with just on those earnings that he do get.He/She can actually use his parents information/card on cashing out those money but you would really able to let your parents know on what you are doing specially on the funds you are earning.

There is no problem when it come to exchanges because it does not require or limits the age of the users. The problem would be on the process of cash-out. Just like you, I know someone who's underage but already earning bitcoin. He used his praent's bank account and details to verify his online wallet for cash-out. And there are some instances that he is sending his btc to someone he knows that was already verified to cash out. It's just really a matter of witt.

A huge boon of bitcoin is that you do not need the approval of any entity to enter the ecosystem. Like some comments have already mentioned, just download a wallet and you can IMMEDIATELY start exchanging your work for bitcoin. As long as you keep bitcoin AS bitcoin, you are likely able to avoid taxation.

However, as long as you keep hush, there's few ways for the state to investigate into your bitcoin activities  ;)

also, atms make it so that if you have a phone and working number, you should be able to cash out without too much scrutiny. just dont do anything illegal.

I think anyone can use bitcoins and altcoins but I'm afraid that exchanges will implement age restrictions in the future if you want to do trading. I've seen bittrex that you'll need to verify yourself because if not your withdrawal limit is only up to BTC.02.

if so far there is no rule that explains about the age in bitcoin but certainly along with the development of bitcoin progress of course there will be changes such as in need of verification ID for the security process in conducting various transactions, whereas in each country have different policies about the minimum level of maturity someone and if in my country the age of 18 years has been categorized in adult age, so it can perform various financial transactions and other business transactions.

I don't think there is a ban under 18 years for the use of bitcoin or altcoin.
Actually it would be better, because they've known bitcoin since a young age.
They will use bitcoin and altcoin as revenue for savings in old age.
Because i see the prospect of bitcoin is very good for the future.
And in my opinion, bitcoin and altcoin can be used for everyone including young and old.

Hi Adam, I do not remember being asked about my personal details when it comes to dealing with cryptocurrencies. Remember one feature that sets Bitcoins apart from real currencies is that it maintains privacy and anonymity at all costs and at all times. You should not be bothered whatever your age is because it does not matter. It is in this day and age with the birth of Bitcoins that earning does not discriminate in terms of age.

You may use it; however, there are exchange platforms that requires only 18+ to register, as written in their terms and conidtions. Suchs example would be coinbase.

If you are asking for authentication then if you ate under 18 thats not a big deal with the block chain . Age groups of type are invited to use crypto .
I have never seen people asking for above 18 proof before registration .

yes you can but the problem would be the limitations since you needed to verified in order to make much bigger deal, and that would required authentic identity and I don't think that exchange will allowed under age to use their platform.

Right. Our local exchange for bitcoin to fiat only allows small transactions and with verifications up to level 3, I can withdraw half a million everyday. The limitation maybe suck but I still support because it's  also a way to stop money laundering.

In my country, there is no law banning crypto-currency trading or possession by those under the age of 18. The laws are same as those with the adults. If you earn a profit from crypto-trading, then you need to pay your taxes and mention about it in your tax returns.

It's okay if you are just going to trade but it's going to be a problem if you are going to withdraw it from exchanges with a huge amount and cashing it through your local exchanges. It's fine with me because young people still need to learn important things like studies before focusing and doing trades.

Maybe Most of The People in This Forum Doesn't give Their Real Identity.

That is Why Some Of The Transactions are Difficult To traced if That Business is scam because Of Hidden agenda,
it Doesn't matter on What Exchange Sites you use what Really matters is your Identity that could be known if The Exchange Sites ask for verification, Unless you do some LIFE HACKS move.

Maybe you should ask Somebody to Help you in Trading using someone's Identity, One That is Capable of Trustworthiness.

Fortunately, Bitcoin users often like and offer anonymity on their websites, and if they don't, in most cases you won't have to verify your information and can lie about it (as long as you use a VPN and you're confident that you're not unsafe using their site).

I dont think bitcoin requires an age bracket with regards to its transactions, usage or functions. Anyone can use it not unless they do some illegal acts with it. Young ones who have the eagerness to earn are the ones who needs to encourage. Just make them realize its responsibility and i think there are no problem with it.

As has opined by majority of writers here, I also think that exchange sites did not make any restrictions or limit to bar any category of persons to register on their sites not even lunatics.

Logically however, the reason for no restrictions or bars as the case maybe is that bitcoin is seen and operated as fiat and off course, there are no bars on people who are to make use of fiats. So, why would there be bars on the people to use or register for the accessibilities or for the purpose of bitcoin?

Also, another cogent reason for no restrictions yet as to age or capacity of investors on registrations to exchange sites in my view is that, there has not been any "strong" ban on bitcoin by a country or even if there have been and because of the decentralized nature of bitcoin, it has arm twisted such proposed "ban". Thus, the exchange sites has to go on with normal business. For the records however, I have not witnessed age restrictions myself.

Hence legally, Equality is Equity. No restrictions to the use of fiat for both old and young. This is the major reason I think that also arm twisted any bars as to age to the use of bitcoin.

Minors are supposed to take care and finish their studies first before joining any business ventures or trade but it hard to avoid that there are some business-minded minors that want to make some profits particularly in cryptocurrency trading. Some crypto exchanges have already stopped accepting minors like coinbase and bithumb and others might follow soon. But there are still no laws banning minors from using or investing in bitcoin or in any cryptocurrencies and they have the right to possess some amounts of bitcoin unless they use it in illegal activities.

Because internet access is easy one can enter. So in business even under age they are entitled whereas positively.

As I observed most of the people in our country who used bitcoin and other crypto currency are mellenials. Then thru them they were shared it to their kids that's why even students are using bitcoin, so I guess even children are allowed to used crypto currencies.

It is a great idea since it will help the teenagers or millennials to have already a option on how to earn money in most conve convenient and easiest way.
Unfortunately they are prohibited by the law to enter in this kind of transaction alone.  They need a parents consent or a guardian that will guide them in all transaction in order to be recognize and more legal

Well as long as a person understands how it works then i don't see any problems. With how today's generation easily copes with technology, it's not going to be surprising that minors would have an idea or would know how to deal with cryptos. Not just for trading but mining, doing campaigns., faucets etc

you can try poloniex or bittrex for altcoin trading, i don't remember bittrex asking for any minimum age for trading, nor they can't prove it, because they don't even require document for trading that do not involve fiat
If the exchange finds activity suspicious, they may require documents. In this case, you can lose the entire deposit. They should be used with caution and with small amounts.

As long as you can prove the source of your funds, you won't be losing anything. Only when you can't prove (or don't want to prove) where your fiat and coin desposits came from, you have to worry about losing your funds, and then obviously only when their system detects suspicious activity. That being said, if you know your funds aren't obtained legally, you shouldn't use a centralized service in the first place, because that's the most stupid thing you can do in times where exchanges are subject to strict regulations.

They should be used with caution and with small amounts.
There is no basic definition of a small amount that one should trade with on exchanges. It differs per person's financial status; what you consider to be a large amount, is literally pocket change for others. The only thing you should care about is that you only trade on properly registered/licensed exchanges, and that when you're done trading, you withdraw everything. There is absolutely no reason why anyone should hold coins on an exchange when there isn't any trading activity going on. It's like playing Russian roulette with your funds.

I've known around 5 person who are into your situation worrying about their age and about cashing out their altcoins, the best option you can have is to trust someone you know who could help you with legal age of course (parents or guardians) to help you with the process, and give them share after having your money so that next time they are willing to help you out.

But check some small banks about options for students underage who want to use or open banks account like rural bank, summit bank or small banl near you, you can check how you can connect your crypto wallet account to your bank account under them.

An exchange should be aware of your age if you have submitted KYC documents. Generally speaking, it will depend on the laws of your country if you will be allowed to sell/buy cryptos. At least in my country you don't possess the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts before the age of 14. If the contract exceeds your economic capacities you will even need to be 18. Buying/selling cryptos always constutitutes the conclusion of a contract.

Hello,
I'm wondering how can you trade with bit/altcoins when you're under 18 years old. I currently need to transfer some ethereum coins (earned by mining) to bitcoin and eventually to real cash. I know that you can use LocalBitcoins.com, however you can only trade bitcoin here. How about altcoins?

Thanks.
no problem, as long as we already have a residence card to make ATM conditions, unless we are underage, we can only trade and can not change to ATM or move it.

Is there any age limit for utilizing any currency? I don't think so. Is there a age limit in buying ICO tokens with KYC? Need to check out that. It may depend on the tokens? And kindly do not underweight guys under 18 especially in current situation. We have so many who are so skilled where we can not even imagine about.  What really went wrong with your trading and why have you brought this topic?

You can try to convert altcoin into bitcoin just like I did on my local exchange.
I'm sure you can find too because every country have their own local exchange, right ?
Or I'm just too lucky since my local exchange doesn't require KYC

Not all countries do really have their own local exchange thats why some people who do engage on crypto would really have these kind of problems.Going back into topic when you are under 18 when you cashing out large sums or amount from your bitcoin converted to fiat you can make use on your parents card or accounts or just simply find p2p into your place. When it comes to your problem with alts, converting them to btc would only just need a few clicks it isnt really a problem at all.

my suggestion that you are trading on an exchanger that does not require verification of ID or market desentralized (idex, etherdelta or forkdelta) after which you can redeem through bank wire, paypal, skrill or changer serving western union.
I think that's one solution, but you can also borrow your parent id or brother who is 18 years old. good luck boys...

Any buddy use the bitcoin and altcoin. But before use the all coin and invest check the rules and process. This information help to plan to work and invest on time. Time is important of this process. So time to acct.  I don't see any age limit for using bitcoin and altcoin because nobody doesn't know with whom we are chatting in the exchanges. There are many people who are using bitcoin and altcoin under 18 years old, even though exchanges ask for age 18, but people do not bother about rules and agreement. If need to more information check the market place and coindisk. It help to easy to gather more infromation and plan to work.

Some exchanges require verification for trading altcoins. But at the same time, there are many exchanges without verification. Therefore, I do not see any obstacles.

In addition to the answer above - just use a DEX (Decetralized Exchange). As almost always - just google for it and try to find out wich one has the highest volume and people talk positive about
There's a lot of exchange site that you might have an account to exchange your altcoins into bitcoin. Not all of these are using to require KYC when you fill up their form so no need to worry even if you are under 18 of age. Local exchange site is the best way to go when you want to convert your bitcoin into cash and every country has had a local exchange for the conversion of you cryptocurrency into fiat.
Another option if ever your country has a KYC for exchange then find a trusted friend that has an account already in exchange and begging him to help your problem.

But in my country they are asking for government identity and their bank details because without verifying those we cannot move further. In my country banks accounts are allowed to open an account even below 18 years.

I think there are a couple of exchange sites that does not require any verification so I dont think there is an age limit for you to use the exchange site. So it would be best if you'd do some research first and check if the altcoins you want to trade with are listed on that exchange site.

Certainly, Bitcoin and altcoin is something which does not require you to have KYC at most places. Hence you should not have any problem using bitcoin either altcoin. The only problem you might have is buying bitcoin from any exchange to use it further. As, this method needs you to have a bank account but account under the age of 18 are also valid in many countries. So, unless you government is happy with bitcoin you will not have any problem.

I think it's no problem for using bitcoin and altcoin in under 18 because I see that some exchanges don't need to fill any document and I think you can use the lower account verification to start trading in the exchanges. but if you want to register in bittrex, poloniex or the other exchanges, I think you need to wait until your ages are above 18 because you need to send the document to get fully verification. but if you only want to keep bitcoin and altcoin, I think you don't need anything except to download a wallet for your computer or android phone.

Some ICO project required KYC for all their customers but I never heard someone saying underage people are not advisable and not welcome to join in the project because they see all people as possible investor to their project. Some exchange also never required age verification or something so you can also trade with them, only you'll have trouble cashing out, but try to visit some banks who might it help you to create your own account as student.

This is an option, but there are also way of selling BTC for fiat even if you are under 18. You can exchange altcoins to BTC on exchanges that don't have fiat pairs (those usually don't require ID scan and birthday) and then withdraw BTC to your wallet (Electrum or Android wallet like Coinomi). You can then sell bitcoins on bitcoin ATM if there is one near you, on localbitcoins or here on forum in exchange for paypal or Western Union (trade with trusted users only!)

Bitcoin usability does not discriminate. It serves as a medium of exchange for goods and services, hence can be used by any age, gender, race, etc group of people as long as they know their forward with its transaction. The question is, "is the USD strictly for 18years and above?" The answer applies to BTC.

every people which are in under 18 could still use bitcoin and like you said, they can exchange altcoin/tokens to btc on exchanges but he needs to know which exchanges that don't require ID scan or send any document. but one thing that he should know that if he wants to exchange his btc to fiat, he still need other people that could receive the money because the bank will ask him if he wants to withdraw in a big amount. so maybe he can withdraw small money and he can do this once in two weeks or monthly so the bank will not curious or suspicious.

You just need to stay away from exchanges that requires KYC and higher forms of verifications before you can transfer assets to a platform where you can exchange crypto to fiat. You can also ask for your elders or some adult that you trust to use their confidential information to make an account for you.

Using Bitcoin and altcoins under 18 is totally fine, however trading even though is currently allowed, one might not be prepared mentally for the kind of pressure that comes with it. Technical Analysis can be learned at any age, but the biggest enemy when trading is psihology, yourself, and the difficulty of risk management. Master yourself first and then you can learn to master trading.

Well, I agree with your statement. Yes even below 18 still can handle cryptocurrency as long as he/she know how to count and what is the real meaning of value as a currency. There was a news that I saw in the article that Teenage bitcoin millionaire Erik Finman, 19, has advice for young people looking to invest in the cryptocurrency. He has invested bitcoin at the age of 11 years in 2011 with the help of his grandmother.
So, there's nothing wrong with the age as long as they know how to compute.

Hardship would really be experienced when we are still underage since we cant still able to make some things which do require at legal age but somehow same as you said we can use up as a middle man for those people who you do know that do have recent or past transactions similar to yours which you can use up to cash out without the need on having an account or verification. There are indeed exchangers or services which wont really require verification if you dont make big transactions.

If u can earn Bitcoin and Altcoins when you are 18 year's of age i think you can also use Bitcoin and Altcoins as a child of 18 year's, and also in some country a child of 18 year's is an adult. Personally i think  you need to be patience a little, you can also use exchange that do not have fiat pair like fork delta or ether delta for now.
