I've never had a problem with them from buying with them through the years and don't really see the source of all the hate for the company. Could anyone go ahead and provide some insight into why people hate it?

Because they're a huge business with poor customer service from what I understand. Their fees are pretty high at 3.75% when I checked them last and they store your funds very insecurely on a web wallet. What's to like really?

Well, I'm speaking more of the buying and selling on coinbase / Gdax, I personally wouldn't store my coins on coinbase but would use them to buy and sell.

Because they find some reason to hate it, some said that coinbase has high transaction cost and stilling bitcoin from their wallet, but, for me until now I am using coinbase, I have been using it for 2 years and never experience it and I am comfort working with it although it is not really a perfect still I am using it as long as it is not stilling all my bitcoin.

maybe because people have bad experience with coinbase so they hate it and they do not want to make transaction with coinbase. but for me, i am not yet make any of transaction with coinbase so maybe i will stay away too because i think i am prefer with the other sites that have been i used before.

because they are mostly known as a wallet. and when we are talking about bitcoin a web wallet specially one that is like coinbase is mostly against what bitcoin is supposed to be.
coinbase is like a bank mostly rather than a bitcoin wallet or even an exchange.
you provide them with all your documents and you still have no access to your private keys so you don't control bitcoin.

There are always some complaints with any companies, bitcoin related or not. I admit their customers support needs to come back to what it used to be. It's clear support is not one their priority. Even with their forum

It happened i had a problem with sending bitcoin to someone with message "invalid adress". I have never understand why, i even though the guy giving me his adress was trying to waste my time. It's happened 3-4 times, i contacted them once, i don't remember their reply but it was not clear either.

I am sure their focus will change with the years and won't be #bitcoin only (like as exemple when they added Etherum)

Not only the fact they charge a high rate to buy bitcoin from them their wallet sucks. They close your account with funds in them, it doesn't matter to them, if they deem you are sending "your bitcoins" to sites that they deem are not up to code to them. According to their TOS if you are violating any of their rules they will close your account and freeze your funds without notice to you until it is too late.
So you still have to ask why there is so much hate for a capitalist pig type of mentally in the bitcoin world?
They have grown to big  they think they have the right to dictate laws to impose onto the bitcoin user who uses them as an option, and there are so many other options outthere who will not do this to you and your bitcoins.
Ever heard of coinjar? They are way better than this con company is.

This is because they are a big company (that could be just enough), that use its power to influence the situation in their favour. And I do not even mention how easily they can freeze your account, with for you no possibility at all to contest it, since juridiction is already hard enough to apply to some companies in your own country, so imagine to a foreign company trading valueless numbers for your juridiction !

I never tried other wallet or exchanges platform as blockchain has fulfilled what I need.
The high pay rate maybe one reason why, but the terms of service that could freeze your funds is the most annoying to deal with if we want the freedom of bitcoin transaction. Moreover about being anonymous which users have to provide all the documents to identify yourself.

What 3.75% fee?

How is their web wallet different from every other online service's web wallet? (Besides the notable fact that they've never been hacked.)

What poor customer service?

What's not to like? They make it easy to buy bitcoin using a credit card or bank account with only a 1% fee.

Don't get me wrong, they aren't perfect. I got hassled with a spurious lockdown on my account last year and they never did fix their mislabeling of my personal checking account as a "business" account (something for which there is no sane reason for them to have done.) But they were at least responsive when I learned my account was locked and I don't see justification for the hostility some people heap on them.

I think people just pour hate on Coinbase because it is trying to comply with the necessary financial laws/regulations that some people don't like. If you're a criminal and Coinbase requires your identifying info to open an account, I guess you're not going to like that very much.

since they are generally known as a wallet. what's more, when we are discussing bitcoin a web wallet uniquely one that resembles coinbase is generally against what bitcoin should be.

coinbase resembles a bank for the most part as opposed to a bitcoin wallet or even a trade.

as I understand it, Coinbase has very strict with own Terms of service. One of the rule does not allow transactions with gambling sites. Many of people who's hate Coinbase broke this rules, and get suspended account
And add to a very slow and poor communication with customers, you get dissatisfied people

People don't hate Coinbase they are just not satisfied with the service they give. Lately many users have issues with Coinbase, their customer service and users policy, locked account, some of users even saying that it's a scam. I think they should be more customer oriented and then many issues could be more easily solved.

Because, they didn't allowed me to take full control over my money!

I have not had a complaint with Coinbase so far, but sometimes I have not had some problems. I just used it as my wallet. In general, Coinbase service conditions may be a little tight because many people hate it. What I came across in customer service is not the ability to reach very slowly, the questions are left in the air.

I believe some people not all people hate coinbase because it as strict verification process before you can buy or sell bitcoin,a lot of scammers cannot use there service because they cannot use there site due to there criminal nature and some  people don't like revealing their identity inline

You have just seen some recent problems of a user here with Coinbase but I think as a whole, it's not that much.

Here are some things I saw:

- People things that they will still have those decentralization life in their bitcoin once they use Coinbase without going on a fact that this exchange is a registered company and has to follow laws involving money
- Taking too long to customer's query if that is really a major one. In my experienced, I encountered some minor problem but Coinbase respond in just less than a hour so I don't know if that will be applied to a major concerns.
- Customers ignorance. Just accepting that they read the whole terms and agreements of Coinbase but even the header is not yet read.
- Accounts closed due to suspected issues which is unresolved up to now

But despite all of that, there are still lots of people using Coinbase. So for now we can't really say that Coinbase is really on a dirty status now. Maybe some things have to look out especially those frozen accounts.

Didn't even know that they own the gdax exchange before reading it here.
So are they just as strict if someone wants to use that exchange? Do you need to hand in your i.d if you want to deposit or withdraw from a gdax account?
What if you have a coinbase account is it seemless to use them between eachother meaning if you have a coinbase account only verified by phone number (which is mine) will this be enough to bypass any verification needed for fully registering a gdax account?
Has anyone had any problems with coinbase locking their funds in a gdax exchange account before?

Well it varies from an individual's point of view, I haven't had any issues with them thus far and I like their interface and all but I've also heard friends and fellow forum members criticize them profusely and their reasons are but not limited to high transaction cost, security issues because it's a centralized system unlike the blockchain, funds are sometimes stolen from their wallets in bits without their knowledge. Their sampled views goes on and on but I am cool with their services.

In the bitcoin world there are mainly two categories of people. The first one they consider it as digital gold as an asset  or commodity and they are interested only for trading just as any other fiat currency and those who regard it as a global currency where there is no need to use any trustful third entity such as the banks. If anyone belongs to first one then maybe has not any reason to complain about Coinbase. On the other side if belongs to the latter does not mean he is criminal because he wants to be free to manage his money. If Coinbase's rules are so strict and behaves as a bank of bitcoins there is no reason to stay in bitcoin. I am pretty happy with my national bank and fiat money. 

Because of the tyrannical way they do business. I know they are a business first and foremost but that doesn't give them the right to close accounts mainly without reason, just because they think that some people have gambled. But that's not all, they do not give users access to the private key of the bitcoin they buy there and when a user don't own the private key of his bitcoins, he does not own those bitcoins. These are reasons enough for me to stay away from them.

Max I can recommend is to buy bitcoin there because I have to be true and say they make buying bitcoin easy but once you do so transfer your bitcoins to a wallet you are in full charge, Electrum desktop wallet or a hardware one.

actually not everyone hates coinbase, or at least not all of it.

i personally don't like or use coinbase but i have always suggested it as a wallet for the absolute beginners who are also lazy. because in my opinion it is a good service for these people to be able to buy bitcoin and then hold it right where they bought it and spend it whenever they want without knowing much about bitcoin and how to use it.

although it is best to use a desktop wallet but services like coinbase are good for average Joe who wants to get in as fast and as easy as possible.

no one hates coinbase, some may not use it, but they do not hate it, this is one of those OP's that is just trying for attention and something to talk about, another attempt to get a useless conversation going about something that does not exist

They grew too quickly and cannot handle the support needed for this kind of operation. Everything runs fine, until something goes wrong, then you are basically on your own.

If you do not have the private key for your bitcoins, you have zero control over it and then you are just a ledger entry on their database.

since bitcoin is a form of freedom , they break it very unfotunate ,
tax regulation , gambling rules ban and a lot of things that tease the peace of bitcoin user ,
too much things that against bitcoin design there , that's why.

There are a lot of haters in the world. I personally don't completely hate Coinbase, but I definitely dislike it. There are just a lot of websites that are better. If you want to buy or sell Bitcoin, you can use localbitcoins which normally offers good rates and you can even trade in person. The also isn't as high as Coinbase's. If you want to store you Bitcoin in Coinbase, then you probably aren't that smart. Unless you keep a very small amount for daily use. Otherwise, it is definitely not a good idea to keep it in Coinbase as they have a lot of issues and definitely don't not have the safest wallet.

So...a few questions for all of you skeptical of Coinbase:

• Have any of you personally had your accounts frozen or cleaned out or closed by Coinbase?
• Is the Coinbase Vault any good?
• What about Circle - just as bad or much better than Coinbase?

because coinbase can block and close account without warning
after not follow rule youre account is close withour warning

I was never in trouble for using the services of Coinbase, most of my friends said the response is very slow and can't conduct transactions with gambling sites, probably because it was a lot of hate Coinbase. I think when it comes to fee Coinbase lower than wallet blockchain

true I think no one people hate Coinbase, each people has its own criteria for wallet they like. so when they do not use Coinbase, it does not mean they hate Coinbase

I personally haven't had any of those things happen to me, but that is because I moved away from Coinbase a long time ago. However, there have been some stories where those sort of things have happened to other people. Coinbase vault isn't that different to the normal coinbase wallet, this is because all it adds is another factor of authentication. You also have to wait 2 days to withdraw from it. A software or hardware wallet is much safer than the Coinbase vault. I have never even heard of circle, it doesn't seem to good so I would say that Coinbase is better.

In my country, Coinbase does not support buy & sell but i still used for store and send BTC because it is safe, fast and use all the time

for me its all because of some US fed interfering the bitcoin world and they want every transaction being centralized to them so they will know who to tax. I saw some news about that and it feels like we need to go out on that site to avoid some surveillance and revealing our transaction to them.

In my case, Coinbase does not seem to care about people's privacy. First of all you have to give them Id in some long winded process to sell and buy bitcoins. The prices for selling and buying are terrible. I haven't had an experience with their customer service, but the moment they warned me saying that I shouldn't be using my balance to gamble, I immediately left that site. They don't have a right to tell us what we can and can't do it.

There so many people hated coinbase.because  there is error on buying bitcoin with it.  There are claiming that they bought already bitcoin in coinbase and then there is no bitcoin appear or not exact bitcoin. There are claiming that coinbase is stealing money priority if you store a big money on that wallet.

The problem with coinbase is that there are many unsatisfied customers. Due to their strict implementation of their rules and with their poor customer support. Aside from higher fees in the transactions made , coinbase has the tendency to close your account without warning or notification. When your account is blocked your bitcoin cannot be retrieved and with poor customer support you wont even have a chance to explain and get it back.

In my opinion, I don't usually use coinbase because it doesn't use bitcoin address. It's same as paypal, payeer, neteller, and etc. they used email for transaction. Some of people doesn't want to show their email address, and that's the issue why some people don't uses coinbase. Unlike in blockchain, or other bitcoin wallet, it only requires bitcoin address which keeps the anonymity of its user's wallet account

For me as a beginner I can say that I have heard pretty good experiences with coinbase.
When I transfer funds to them (euro from a german bank account) the funds arrive in less than a day...

The fees might be a bit higher, but I will glady pay a small fee for a easy buying experience.

I heard from users that coinbase wallet does not allow gambling for which its been getting hated. Gambling is one among the highly depended source by bitcoin users. When its not supported sure the reputation of the wallet service provider gets declined.

i dont know about peoples but i could not said anything about it because i have never use it but i think many online site which are way better but i hope i will use it in the future because there is maximum in the fever of Coinbase ......!!!!

I'm using Coinbase wallet and app and I'm very happy with the experience. Coinbase is what average person needs but people hate it because it is a centralized company, like banks. So, libertarian dreamers hate Coinbase because of ideological reasons.

It is because a year ago, Coinbase sided with Gavin Andreeson on the big blocks issue, and when it couldn't get resolved, they started to add alts to their services.

The core people were particularly incensed that Coinbase added alts because if alts have access to all the infrastructure built around bitcoin such as merchant apps and so on, it makes it easier for an alt to take bitcoin's place.

People talk about network effects, but if you plug in alts into bitcoin's network, then you don't need bitcoin anymore. Coinbase is a big part of the infrastructure as it links crypto wallets to bank accounts in the US, has merchant apps and other infrastructure stuff.

i only use coinbase to buy and sell btc, and transfer to/from my core wallet right away. i dont use them as a web wallet.

they are slow to xfer dollars to my bank account when selling and when sending btc to them they can be slow to confirm.

other than that no real concerns here.

For your information, Coinbase is online site and wallet. Coinbase is easy to use and very user friendly and best for daily transactions. But you should not place all your coins in Coinbase. As it is online wallet, they dont give you private keep. Only best for using it to make transaction as they do not deduct transactions fee.

- I'm not sure but I think the transaction is slow or delayed
- The transfer of money and withdrawals usually takes place very long
- Use money or receive money from gambling, account is blocked

I dont like coinbase because one of my friend stole his funds in his coinbase wallet. Its also have history of sending funds and the receiver didn't receive the funds. They said it was already sent to the receiver but its not. Maybe coinbase is good only for small amount. I dont want to risk my bitcoin to that wallet. All i see here are negative impressions.

If You don't have problem yet may be because you haven't bought or held quite big amount of bitcoin there. If you will than they will just froze your account in the name of investigation and will ask you lots of personal documents.

They work just like paypal and bitcoin wallet is just their name, they never give you private key of your coinbase's bitcoin addresses so you will have no any control over your bitcoins.

I haven't actually had any problem with them since I started using but I know that there's not a single human institution that'll be 100% perfect so they are liable to make mistakes and sometimes I think we should tolerate some except maybe their fees are on the high side; I haven't noticed that but it could be because my transactions haven't involved much BTC's.

I am using Coinbase from last 14 months for sending/receiving bitcoin and never faced a single problem!
I really enjoy free of fees quick transactions offered by them! The maximum wait I ever had there was 4 hours.
To date, none of my btc suddenly disappeared or anything else happened as reported by many.
I recommend Coinbase to those who have to carry several transactions daily of lower values.
However, I never tried buying/selling there.

Most people involved in the bitcoin economy are libertarians so they hate any regulations and coinbase is always crewing people around with regulations, but I think those people on coinbase are delusional. What do you expect if you want to have a bridge between the traditional system and the bitcoin system? they are going to be forced to comply with all regulations if they want to stay in business.

However, I think the OP is trying to understand why there are so many complaints here in the forum, there is a number of topics where users complain about the service. Some of these reports may be considered to be false, of course, unless there is consistent evidence. I think Coinbase support should check these complaints to find out what's actually going on.

That's right. The number one mistake people make is putting all their fruits in one basket. In this case, They stored bitcoin in web wallets and end up hating the site when their accounts are either hacked, bitcoin deducted or in some cases, Users account are closed and removed with prior notice along with funds. I use Coinbase too and never had issue with it. I stored Majority of my bitcoin funds in a wallet that I own the private keys. Security is everyone's business. add

Actually to comply with all rules and regulations set by government of the every country where they are operating they have to investigate each and every transaction going in and out from the accounts to stop money laundering. But this investigation will be pain for normal bitcoin users because they can't save large amount of bitcoin or send/receive bitcoin to/from wherever you want.

Because they are a paranoiac American Company. If you happen to send them a huge amount of btc somehow, or you if you make huge trades, they will search out the shit out of you. And if they suspect of anything, anything tiny, your account will get blocked and your money will be seized. And suddenly you'll find yourself dealing with the secret service.

Sometimes they have had delays where they don't give you your coins for over 12 days after it already left your bank account.  This happened as recently as at the beginning of this year.

You do not need coinbase for any other reason but only for buying and selling and you have not faced any problem in buying and selling that is why you do not hate while a number of people use it for different reasons and in that when they face any issue they start to hate bitcoin.

That can happen with anyone while using any exchange site mate. It has happened in past. Even Banks have delayed like anything sometimes.
Apart from saving your coins in not so secured wallet and little high fees, Coinbase is a good exchange site.

I never used CoinBase to buy or sell, prefer Local Bitcoins for that. Or ATMs.

Just seemed like a lot of trouble to use a web wallet, when blockchain.info is quick and easy.

High fees really a big problem when it comes to the exchanger because you want low fees because you are saving or not but it is all about low cost. But overa in websitee its okay and the support system is okay for me they reply a soon as possible

I don't mind Coinbase fees if the service is really pleasing and can give convenient to it's user. Right now I don't have any problems using Coinbase. Also I like their exchange rates compare to our local rates. Little bit higher in terms of sell rate but unfortunately buy and sell is not supported in our country but I think in the near future it will happen.

Most of the complaints about Coinbase is freeze account and most of the posters only state that without giving proof or evidence.

I think the hidden fees that you mention as actually happen to me last year 2x that i send my bitcoin into coinbase but i just receive  pending in few days the pending gone also my bitcoin is gone the support said that i double spend that is why its pending and never receive it.. but according to my electrum wallet there is no problem that i send my bitcoin the 2nd one this new year i experience of reduces of my balance there when the price of bitcoin is $1k plus until the price was crash i saw my balance was reduce i email them but no answer until now..

that simple for me , if im send bitcoin from coinbase to other address need 1confirmation or more
and if me or someone very emergency with this bitcoin sure i cant wait for a long time waiting confirmation

I first  time heard that Coinbase can delay payments and i am really worried on hearing this. Bitcoin transactions are instant and waiting for 12 days means something is fishy. By the way i have decided to remove all my bitcoins from coinbase now and keep them save in my desktop wallet. Thanks for the information.

There have a lot of negative feedbacks and these are the general problems about them:

1). Poor Customer service - Not all people are getting answered
2). Their strict and getting more stricter KYC (Know Your Customer) -  They want you to submit documents so you will no longer be anonymous .
3). Freezing and closing of a users account - For whatever reason, They have to notify the users if they will be closing its account so that the user will have time to empty their wallet . Of course the reason should also be notify to the user .
4) . Slow Processing
5). Android App keeps crashing

those are simply people bitching because the world doesn't match their little model they dreamed up, i am talking about legitimate complaints, bot "my app closed and i had to take another full three seconds of my life to open it again"

and i like people getting their wallets frozen, maybe they will start following the rules

i have heard lits of rummers about coinbase lets just ignore the fact that coinbase is a web wallet and they have less security except that they do not allows every country...their support system is weeker when helping...i heard rummers that they block some users account who transact in gambling sites..they do not charge any fees for their transactions i do not know what is true or what is false but i just switched to mycelium android wallet

Perhaps it's just for a group of people who get frozen because of gambling, the rest Coinbase service was pretty good and by use coinbase you dont need to pay fee transaction for send bitcoin.

I have no any complain regarding the coinbase .l always accept it .but as i know that no any people hate with coinbase. it may be lake of knowledge about bitcoin site or they have lake of time to spent on it.coinbase is just like a wallet which help us any time .

They may be bitching, but those complaints are legitimate, coinbase is a company and they should be responsible for every complaint they are getting especially for notifying their clients before freezing their accounts, even if the user were unable to follow the rules, they should still have the rights to know if their accounts will be closed/froze and if coinbase fail to do so it can be considered as Estafa.

Usually the peoples hates a services because of bad costumers services are like slow respond,
slow withdrawal and other technical problem.
Mostly people hates services because of there are some problem include on coinbase but
it is just small amount of peoples whom hates coinbase and not all of costumers coinbase.

People like to hate coinbase because they took a stance on the block size in contrast to powerful people who control main forms of bitcoin discussion.The coinbase CEO openly advocated for larger blocks. Thats why the hatred started.

Because it's their customer support is poor. They can't afford enough customer service or something. They've always seemed to have difficulty working on the tickets they get.

Here's the real reason people don't like Coinbase: It's a United States company.

All the negative reasons I'm here can be linked back to the US Federal laws. Coinbase doesn't want to make it a greater hassle for you to bank with them! They don't want to track every detail of your identity! They don't want to strip you of your anonymity!

They have to because they're based out of the US. And the laws in the US are more strict than in other countries. It's that simple.


Windpower, Circle is the exact same thing as Coinbase, however it's based out of a different US city. (And will ultimately be subjected to the same Federal regulation that Coinbase is being subjected to.)

I finally closed my account there customer service is terrible, they take forever to respond... and when u even send live chat they pretend like there there

I don't think it all, I like the coinbase wallet and still I use. Coinbase is a wallet that I use other than blockchain. A nice feature and now there's been a wallet for etherium, I'll keep coinbase because sending and receiving free coins.

Not really, although coinbase didn't supporting buy and sell in my country. i am still using it until now. so far. enjoying low fees (i know it will going slowly transfer) they are offered based on bitcoin transfer.

I did not really hate coinbase but my friend really hates it.  hey bought bitcoin from coinbase but that time there were some error in coinbase. My friend purchase wasnt successful and I think my friends money has been hi-jacked. There were some issues like my friend , Until now the bitcoin that supposed to be his is now wasn't in his hand

So they are free or very low on fees? never had the pleasure working with them but seems like federal government is bullying them to take control over the clients information, lol I think the masters of our world are slowly realizing that they don't have any control regarding usage of bitcoin.

The transaction fees are way higher than other exchanges. The other thing is many get banned because of using it for gambling purposes which is at their rules to not do it. Problem is they didnt read first the terms of agreement. Actually we can send money for gambling just dont abuse it or you will certainly lose your account.

Same as yours i didnt have any problems on coinbase infact imve been using it for how many months now and i dont experience problems at all.Maybe there would be small bugs or technical troubles which i didnt know and maybe those person who hates it are those who live on us because of the restriction that have been given.

I am not sure as I don’t usually trade using coinbase but from the experiences of other coinbase users from this community, I think that coinbase is trying to control the spending of the users. They don’t want us to spend or send bitcoins in the areas which are beyond their permission and they simply close the account if we try to do the transactions which are prohibited from doing. I think they do not want to meet any legal trouble because of any unusual transaction.

Actually I also confuse, coinbase is the first wallet I had, and i keep on using it until now, I think it got a good security and protection, many people said that coinbase was stealing money, their fund suddenly disappear and seems like the customer support also can't give any solution to that people, maybe that is the reason coinbase is label as a scam site

It is not necessary that Coinbase must have buy/sell support in your country before You can sign up to use the wallet. Even If Buy/Sell was enabled in your country, I'm certain you won't use it because The buy rates might be slightly higher than normal rates. Aside Buy/Sell support, Coinbase offers the basic necessity of a bitcoin wallet including — A bitcoin wallet for storing Btc, Send/Receive option & additional security via 2 Factor Auth.

And that is major thing people dont actually hate Coinbase, its their services that is being hated. One thing that is being paramount in the soul of business is never for whatever reason lose touch with the clients because the moment that is happening, then that is the beginning of the end and immediately this is happening and nothing is being done or what is being done is not enough to arrest the declining situation.

Coinbase is only for murricans and murricans have stopped using Bitcoin as much as they did when it was new and trendy, edgy, cool. Face it, Bitcoin became popular because young murricans were using Silk Road to have the USPS ship drugs to them. With Silk Road gone and the replacements being LEO traps or scammers the murricans have less use for Bitcoin. It's ok though because we still have the Chinese day traders keeping Bitcoin moving up. Coinbase should be failing without enough murricans that want bitcoin.

i don't said any thing about it because i never use it but i think no other coin or cryptocurrency is better than bitcoin..... i think it is the best , most used and most popular currency online and it is gaining popularity day by day so if you compare it with bitcoin i think bitcoin is way better than it or any other ........

Coinbase failed because when their users make a trade, and three days later a big gain on exchange rate, Coinbase produces and 'error' that reverses the trade.  Total dishonesty.  Why the fuck would anyone use Coinbase?  It is just another scam.  A trade is a trade.  The deal is done.  If there is an 'error' then it is Coinbases' loss not the client.  They have a different strategy and theirs produces huge profits for their own pockets at the expense of their customers.  Stealing your customer's money through trickery isn't such a clever business plan.  This only happened to me once.  About $200 lost.  Stealing $200 puts you out of business.  Bye, bye Coinbase.  Stupid fuckers.

Fire the employees, clean up the shop, turn out the lights.  That shit is over.  No faith in the community, no business.  

I don't hate Coinbase, but yeah I came across with issues, which were sometimes annoying. Like high fees, and mostly because it doesn't supports local transaction in my country, so I face some issues.

There are several issues with Coinbase which are apparently unsolved. In general, Bitcoin is created for the anonymity and it is wrong to open a third party company which holds Bitcoin for users. Many Bitcoin experts do not like or support this idea although that Coinbase is getting stronger every day. Moreover, Coinbase does not allow users to gamble or involve in any gambling activities and they will immediately close your account if you are found breaking the rule for several times

This.  I really miss Circle, and it's so unfortunate they got out of the bitcoin business.  They were so easy to use for buying bitcoin.

Coinbase closed my account with no reason given, just a form-letter e-mail sent to me.  I never found them convenient to use, and they definitely charged fees that were too high.  But honestly I'd go back to them, because I haven't found a better place to buy bitcoin with fiat.  Goddamn you, Circle!

Coinbase works fine until it doesn't.

The  problem is, people happy with a service rarely come out and give praise.  But when something goes wrong
individuals are much more likely to vent and leave a negative review online. 

I've used coinbase on and off over the years, and haven't had any issues.  There's just not many alternatives
going BTC <--> USD

I used to have a Coinbase wallet a few years ago when i was new but it was pretty much useless to me back then because Coinbase did not yet operate their exchange side of the business in my country.

Just google Coinbase and i am sure you will find many reasons why people don't like them, at one stage it seemed like every week there was a new thread here "Coinbase closed my account"

I do not use Coinbase myself due to many people complaining about it. I am thinking of opening a XAPO one to also get the debit card but am not sure if that one is working well but so far it has good reviews.

Most number of people trust online reviews as much as they trust their best.Yes,just google Coinbase you should find so more bad experience with coinbase more likely to write a negative review.Often,it can feel like getting a bad review is hugely unfair.Writing a negative review takes a lot of effort and most of cases people continuously given negative feedback.That's not correct so far.
If you don't like coinbase just don't use or ignore their services,so far I don't face any problem using coinbase.

It is not worthy to use coinbase a number of people have problems with it but if you want to use xapo then it is better idea because it do not have much issues for their users. Only a few people complaint about it in the past few months but I think they now are fair with their members.

Well, last I use Coinbase, everything looks normal. I just do not like the complicated system. besides, maybe a lot of people who prefer xapo, or other than Coinbase. a lot of people who doubted Coinbase dair performance, perhaps his fee was too high. Well, people who use Coinbase might explain all about it.

This is commonly the thing that i have always read regarding on those feedback on which almost the same "Coinbase closed my account" but one thing comes through my mind that most of those users doesnt know the rules or ToS of coinbase thats why they suffer such situation.

they may freeze your wallet if you send funds to gambling sites, then goodbye your coins and there is nothing you can do

I don't use them because I want to be able to send coins anywhere I want without risk of my account being frozen and that I lose my coins

Yes, it's right that, Coinbase support system is very poor.They did not answer customer questions properly.I am using coinbase about 2years.I never faced any issue using this service.But a few days ago personally, I try to contact with support team.They replied me after 2days later.
Also, they banned the user for gambling purposes without any warning.after banning people lost their all money with their wallet.There is no refund system. :(

I think many users don't like the service because they have faced problems in the past, such as frozen accounts and problems with support. However, not everyone hates the service, I realize that many users still use coinbase, and this makes me think that there are still a lot of people satisfied with the service.

when speaking of bitcoin, we want the decentralization and control over our money which comes with controlling our own private keys. and this doesn't happen in coinbase. you give up all your control over your private keys and your money to a third party, which means you are using a bank and if you want to use a bank then use a fiat bank not a bitcoin bank!

There are many reason why people hate Coinbase and using their services, I want to mention only few of them, the users who want to use coinbase as a wallet or as an exchange their first should read their terms of service because this is very much important, they don't allow people to use gambling funds or from an illegal source so they may end closing your account.

The other thing is about their bitcoin wallet, it's good that they cover the transaction fees but the worse part is that you don't have access to your private key which you don't have control over your funds.

They have pretty poor customer support and my account got closed from buying some coins on local bitcoins, i guess the seller transferred the coins from some market that coinbase deemed not trustworthy or something so they closed my account and never responded to any of my support tickets.

I was speaking about using them on the use of buying and selling bitcoin, which I know people also want to be decentralized. I feel it's impossible to have something like that be decentralized, secure, and have a good amount of volume to be able to attract real traders to the service. You're going to have to use a business like GDAX from Coinbase as it's trusted, somewhat secure I suppose, and people use it.

Decentralization is not always the key to having something work wonderfully.

For a big company they are, they have failed to execute top quality services thanks to their poor support system, closure of accounts with absurd reasons for suspending\closing accounts.

Let me add and Itemize the complaints(some anecdotal):
1)I've had 6 days of no response from them.
2)Telling me it's not their fault for having Bitcoin boom.
So in other words, It's not our fault Cryptocurrency is in and we have no plans of upgrading
to support the high trade volumes.
3) BSOD saying "Service Unavailable" at least 5x a day

After the intermittent service outage, me and my friend opted to go back to
our Fallback site Paxful, and we did.

We can't take any of that stress.
