Title: Electrum to Coinbase
Post by: akelatalamasca on January 28, 2017, 01:38:17 AM
Hello, everyone. Apologies if this is an elementary question, but I'm new to all this.

Essentially, I have some bitcoins in my Electrum wallet that I want to transfer to Coinbase so I can cash them out as USD. I've tried to figure this out on my own, but I can't seem to do it. Can anyone help with step-by-step instructions? Thanks in advance!

What is your problem exactly? You don't know how to send your bitcoin to another address or you have problem with sending it to your Coinbase's address?
Instead of asking here try to read through Coinbase Support Page first and maybe you will figure it out yourself. https://support.coinbase.com/ (https://support.coinbase.com/)

If wanting to sell any cryptocurrency, there are other marketplaces like eBay. Ensure you can wait to sell, in terms of using CoinBase try contacting support if coming across any issues.

you need the deposit address used for your coinbase account.

see the site FAQ where it is, or why you don`t have one

considering you have an electrum wallet with balance, then I guess you know how to send transactions

First is you need to register in coinbase. After  making an account in coinbase then find your bitcoin address in coinbase. Then you copy it. Open your electric wallet then paste the coinbase wallet address put the amount then send. After few confirmation then your bitcoin will appear in your bitcoin  wallet in coinbase.

This is taking long so when you want to convert bitcoin to USD just check the YouTube for tutorial.

A lot of people here are against doing formal bitcoin business in the United States, which is where Coinbase is based. So just be aware of what recordkeeping may be happening if you transfer ETH to a Coinbase wallet and then withdraw that ETH to USD. Personally, I don't think it's that big a deal if Coinbase doesn't know how much you paid for your ETH (or BTC) and how much gains you have. It's the capital gains and income that the US Government wants to tax, hence the recordkeeping from Coinbase.

If you want to go a similar route with without the recordkeeping check out Circle. https://www.circle.com/en (https://www.circle.com/en). The same services as Coinbase, without the spotlight on them.

Cheers!

Thats easy. You just have to register there and when you successfully created your account.  In your account theres a deposit address there. Just copy paste the address on your electrum wallet. Make sure you double check the address before sending the funds because the transaction is irreversible. Goodluck to you.

Did your Bitcoin has credited in your Coinbase account? after you get confirmation you can exchange your Bitcoin to USD, but if you're live in United States because as my knowledge only user from United States can use Coinbase exchange service if you don't live in US you can use exchange service, that you can withdrawal your money with USD like btc-e.com, cex.io.

I thought circle is not accepting bitcoin anymore? They recently declared that they are not gonna allow buy and sell bitcoin on their site.

Theres so many exchange out there. Paxful, localbitcoins.com and other exchange sites. Coinbase is not the ideal place to store your funds.
