After reading a lots of positive response from fellow members about bitcoin day here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1781426 I have decided to move to a next step and create a poll on when should bitcoin day be celebrated?
I will add poll to this thread after some suggestions about which date of the year would be most appropriate for bitcoin commemorative day.

February 6 : Bitcoin Market established
July 7 : Bitcoin v0.3 released
August 18 : Domain name "bitcoin.org"
October 31 : Bitcoin design pape published
November : 09 Bitcoin project registered

January 3 : Genesis block
established at 18:15:05

The list of remarkable days are quite long but I think January 3,9 or 12 would be my pick.

usually when we give name to a specific date, we use the most significant event and i think the most significant event with bitcoin is genesis block since it is the start of it all. and the block number zero (like ground zero).
so i'd say that is the only date we need.

other dates, such as the ones in my above comment (and also pizza day which he forgot) are good but not as significant.

That is a lot of dates to choose from but I think in my opinion it should be January 9 where the Bitcoin is release and announce to the public, if your date list are accurate, well it is good if we can get the January 9 date for the commemorative celebration on bitcoin! what can you say guys?

I agree with January 9 it is close to new year which will be a good date for celebrating bitcoin day, we can also ask for a high and good year for us bitcoin users as it is the start of the year. Hope the price of bitcoin to hit the 1300$ price and be that the minimum price of bitcoin forever. Hahaha  ;D

Usually we celebrate the birth of someone or something. I think if ever we will celebrate a bitcoin day, it will be when the genesis block was established. Of course, other mentioned dates is equally significant but genesis have slightly deeper value or meaning.

You should make the poll already. If a bitcoin day would be proposed, I would suggest the day the first bitcoin was mined. That is the very start of the journey of bitcoins as that was the very first bitcoin that ever existed. So January 3 would be my bet for this one, OP. Or we could also use the first ever transaction that happened which is January 12. Thanks to btvGainer for the list.

I think as bitcoin day has to be chosen that day than this currency will be officially admitted as payment instrument in some country. As I know bitcoin is not admitted in anywhere yet.

The day when the white paper has been first released, if the time is still known.

Or the time when the genesis block has been mined

It is like a philosophic question, did Bitcoin comes to live when the concept appeared or when the concept has been implemented?

i would help OP and submit the vote however if i'm not mistaken that bitcoin was introduced on 3 January 2009
and probably OP want to considering to putting that date in the poll

Opinions vary on whether BTC should have his day or not,some may say it is too early for this but I think that this idea is not bad for discussion.In my opinion and some others members Genesis Block would be a suitable date for celebration of bitcoin day.But also good day for that can be day of first transaction.

In any case, about that day should decide bitcoin community,and since that the greatest community is here there is no better place to decide about BTC-Day.

January 9th would be the perfect one because on that day  Bitcoin version 0.1was released and announced on the cryptography mailing list and I recommended this because it on new year eve and everybody would love to celebrate the day with full enthusiasm and feel

January 3rd without any doubt. The Genesis block is the most important moment, this is when a baby get out of her mother's and start really to live. This is on this date that one's birthday is celebrate.

I agree! The first block ever found is the most significant milestone and more understandable to the public than domain registration or release of specific versions.

I will also voted for the genesis block (Jan 3) because this is truly the beginning of the Bitcoin blockchain. And it is the first mine block buy Satoshi himself.

I voted for January 9 simply because it was that day when bitcoin actually came into existence.We don't celebrate our birthdays when we as a sperm enters the egg.We celebrate it when we come into this world  ;D
.On same logic genesis block,whitepaper etc days should not be observed as bitcoin day.

I think January 3 is the day with most symbolic power, as it's the day the Bitcoin blockchain had its foundation (the genesis block) and it's the date all block explorers show as the beginning of Bitcoin.

It is true that the software began to run fully at January 9 (block 1) but that's merely a technical detail for me. The other events are minor to me, although I have nothing against continuing to celebrate the Pizza day ;)

I pick January 3 : Genesis block established because in that day all bitcoin world is born.
another days could be satoshi nakamoto birthday but who knows?  ;D

I agree! This is the most significant event. Like for the baby: it has birth date and start life, than there is a day when baby is given a name, when it is first shown to the public, etc.  But the most important event for bitcoin is January 3 - Genesis block.

How is this going to be organized... just having a poll will not get this off the ground. You will have to market this with Bitcoiners and have some

event tied to this, like we have with the Pizza Day... {where everyone goes out and buy a pizza} You could organize some sort of charity event,

where people contribute with micro payments to show off Bitcoins strong points? ???

Is there a Pizza day commemorate celebrated ,i did not know that.The bitcoin day should be celebrated when the Genesis block is established as it was the first step initiated when it comes to bitcoin.I stand by btvgainer as January 3,9 and 12 are the remarkable days of bitcoin.

Its not about me.The whole community has to come forward and contribute in whatever manner they can.
As far as I am concerned, I plan to send some article about bitcoin to local newspaper and would request them to public it on that day.
Different people can contribute differently.We can also have bitcoin day fund where we each can donate whatever amount of bitcoin we want.

I'd think that the best way to go is the Jan 3rd- genesis block, why? Well that kind of marks the official start and the very beginning of the blockchain. That kind of holds the most significance of all.

For me the best date for bitcoin day is the day when it was released because that is the day that the world has taken a sight on it! And the bitcoin dqy should be announce worldwide. I don't know if how we will do it. Maybe we should publish it on a newspapers or let's make a worldwide tweets and facebook posts about it to spread the good news. :)

It's an interesting idea about it, I also think it should be the day on which Bitcoin became something of public access, where not only the creators were aware of this, but when the possibility of mining was shown to people willing to support the network.

How about the week before xmas? It sounds perfect to me because then people will be in the mood to spend and it will be a privilege to celebrate while everyone shops.

I agree on what you have said thats should be the bitcoin day when the first block have benn created because its the beginning before those developments that came after on it.Well people do different have insights related to this but for me this should be the bitcoin day.

Why don't you try 14th April, it's my birthday and it will be great to celebrate with bitcoin. I might as well get friends donating some free bitcoins for me. Crazy idea ha!

Jan,3=Genesis block since it is the first block it make sense that it the best candidate
so far, but I guess the date of creation of bitcoin would be good too as a candidate
of bitcoin day since it is about bitcoin. :D

Yes it is, but I think we should celebrate bitcoin everyday because of its greatness and all the helps that it always do to us. Bitcoin changed a lot of lives here in this forum, because of its uniqueness to the other coins living here in the cryptocurrency's world, bitcoin is the best of them all. Bitcoin is already taking half of his path to the bright future with all of the bitcoin users around the world, that is why we must celebrate everyday because bitcoin is still there----with us, and still living.

It would be perfect if we will have a bitcoin day and January 3rd will be the day... It is the day bitcoin was born... hopefully we could push through... it would be exciting the whole people who supports btc will be celebrating bitcoin day...

I personally feel January 12 should be Bitcoin day as it is one of the major currency right now which is having no fees for transactions. And most of the people here haven't understood the Blockchain yet but they do transact in Bitcoins. So January 12.  :)

January 3rd is a very good choice, as Bitcoin's birthday. My vote, however is January 12th for two reasons:
* It's the day its "heart" started to "beat". You know, you celebrate the birth, not the fecundation ;)
* January 3rd is too.. early for my liking. People is still dizzy from New Year's :D and may miss this. I prefer it to be a more .. lucrative day.

January 12 looks to be the right day for a celebration. As said it is the day when a confirmation was recorded as a proof for a long time effort. This time we have missed, coming years lets make it more popular among the users.

Total Voters: 19 so far and majority of them want 3rd of January.

Why don't you include the option for the btc day to be the BTC pizza day :D I think that is one of the most remarkable moments in BTC history and is worth being announced oas the official BTC day,either way it is considered to be one of the turning points for the success of BTC
