Title: Which UK banks process bitcoin transactions?
Post by: hjordan on February 13, 2017, 04:01:13 PM
I tried to withdraw fiat from Bitstamp to Santander, but Santander won't process it.
I called Marks and Spencer bank run by HSBC and they won't deal with bitcoin either.
Which UK banks, if any, are bitcoin friendly?

Where are you in the UK? I'd like to buy some Bitcoin for cash, or by bank transfer from Nationwide.

I never used any of them but from the look of it and posts I've seen , both Santander UK and Fidor Bank should be bitcoin and crypto friendly. It's better to contact both of them and make sure though.

I've received from Natwest in the past without a squeak but that was only once. If you do it all the time then you're likely to get some trouble somewhere along the line.

Fidor is the one but they don't sound like they're full service yet. I don't think they're linked into faster payments and there aren't any individual account numbers or something equally strange. I'm sure they'll have the confirmed answers. I get the feeling if Fidor becomes too Bitcoin friendly they'll be shut out of playing with everyone else.

I didn't hear any news that any bank works with bitcoin already. Can you post here the link about this information? It sounds very interesting.

They don't. We're talking about deposits and withdrawals to exchanges. Barclays were talking about working with Bitcoin via Safello for charitable donations a while back but that seems to have gone quiet.

Have you tried any of the banks under the Barclays group? I have a friend that dealt with a bank under the Barclays group and he said he had no

problems with withdrawal to his bank account, when he converted bitcoins via his regulated exchange. I think the banks under the R3 group will

all stick together and block Bitcoin linked transactions. They want people to use their shitty super ledger in future.  ::)
