Title: Can't run guiminer and GPU-z or CCC at the same time Post by: datsweetnlow on June 16, 2011, 08:21:19 PM Whenever I start mining with guiminer and then start up GPU-z, my computer will instantly freeze and require a hard reboot. Conversely, if I start up GPU-z first and then click "start mining" on guiminer, it will do the same.
More importantly, I have the same issue with the Catalyst Control Center. But, it's even worse: If I make some modification from the default (such as set a manual fan speed), then close the program, and then start mining, it will crash. Because of this, I cannot adjust fan speed while (or before) mining, and I will probably not be able to OC my cards. This also means I cannot monitor temps while mining. I've been able to do a bunch of other things during mining though, including web browsing. Also, I've been able to mine for a couple hours now without touching GPU-z or CCC. I have not tried a third-party program like MSI afterburner yet. I'm running 2 6970's (crossfire enabled) with a 1000W psu. The only way i can get it to work is to uninstall any CCC apps. Delete and reinstall video card drivers. Install OpenCL driver only from amd site. optional install of gpu-z Basically when these items are running side by side the system freezes up. I belive CCC is in startup/running in background and always freezes when miner starts. Im going to keep testing and post when i figure it out Title: Re: Can't run guiminer and GPU-z or CCC at the same time Post by: 6950miner on July 06, 2011, 12:26:22 AM I have the same issues with my 6950's.. any ATI or GPUid app hard locks the PC immediately if GUIminer is running (along with playing -any- video, web browsing etc).

There really is no way around it but if you open gpu-z first then start your miner it won't crash... Although hitting any flash site whilst browsing will still lock it up |
