Title: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: Blaater on February 24, 2017, 12:29:22 PM With the recent missing coins in post and the growing interest in Bitcoin, I thought it might be usefull to start a topic where everyone can respond and an overview is made.
Lets help eachother out and report if you have lost a coin. With enough interest this topic will also be ranked first in Google if people are going to search for the coin address if it ever shows up for sale.

My only witness, sadly was my 10 year old step son who wanted to see his first "Hawaiian Bitcoin". :D
Anyhow.. The package was empty. ??? - Smoothie claimed he could not find it and had never had that happen before ever, so I felt quite bad about it, however, he resent me a new one to replace it. Anyhow. Unless it's under smoothies' fridge or something , here is the public address. I have no idea what the number on the coin was though? Edit - here is the right one, sorry, the last was the replacement coin, my bad lol: https://blockchain.info/address/1BFBrr4EpJrumLz1JCmChfZCiC96TjByjx Good thread, will keep things safer, thanks! :D Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: FFrankie on February 25, 2017, 03:21:50 AM I updated the list. RavenBit 2014 MS 68. Stolen in transit by US Postal Service. Post(wo)man marked package with her Route Number and "Received w/o Contents" I already paid for it and I'm out how much ever the coin is worth. The value of the coin remains a mystery to me. If we get lucky, this might help catch thieves or find stolen items being resold on marketplaces like eBay.

Someone PMed me and told me it was being auctioned on govdeals.com. I filed a lost mail report on USPS.com and had the coin back in 2 days. It took a year for it to show up on GovDeals.com and its a miracle that someone noticed it and let me know it might have been mine. I am very grateful to this person! Thank you all and good luck with your items. Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: FFrankie on February 07, 2019, 02:19:26 AM I updated the list. There's a never ending supply of thieves working for all mail systems, and esp with covid it gives them such a leg up to do a lot more damage. If you really care about what you're sending in the U.S., send it registered only ( I'm assuming no one has had these messed with)

I had no idea. Mine were "lost "in the mail I got a literal cut out of the box back with the label. Somebody literally just cut the label off of the box. With a box cutter. Unless they would accept the PMs between me the buyer and the escrow. You could easily prove you owned the coins with the DMs. I don't think there is any way to alter old messages. However the likelihood that you ever get the coins back is basically zero. There are so many variables to this situation that could work against you ( police wont care to look in to it, ebay wont care or wont since they dont technically allow crypto sales, seller would prob use a newbie account with fake info, etc etc) Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: Sat0shisGhost on July 18, 2020, 02:02:11 AM You are supposed to file a police report when your mail gets lost? Not a police report but you're supposed to report it, yea: https://faq.usps.com/s/article/Mail-Theft Postal Inspectors take their job pretty seriously and would probably look into it if it shows up on eBay. I don't know if they would if you only reported it years after the fact though. Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: Gatorelf on February 24, 2021, 10:48:19 AM Gonna bump this as a reminder for items lost or stolen that are still out there. I will add something too, the USPS seems to be getting less trustworthy overall. Maybe it was just 2020 however I always had great service until 2020. Two packages were lost, one in the summer and another in the Fall. One was the small flat rate box $8.30 or so 2-3 day service. That's a tough box! I placed a pound or so of gaming tokens in a zip lock bag that filled 80% of the box. Taped the outside for extra protection It was headed to AZ, six weeks later it makes it, empty. Had a whole in the side and looked like it had been used as a hockey puck for a few days. The other was a packet of coins, never made it. The coincidence is of the 100 or so packages I mailed off last year (15% coins) the two that went missing were coins. soooo anything high dollar I us FedEx with all there tracking tech. If its something like a Cas in person only now days Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: krogoth on July 14, 2021, 04:31:52 PM Gonna bump this as a reminder for items lost or stolen that are still out there. Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: krogoth on June 11, 2022, 12:31:29 PM I was planning or releasing my series 2 coins this coming week, but more than half of the mint was stolen in route to the distributor. The distributor is someone I trust, and is not to blame at all in any way. Coins with serial numbers 002-104 and 121-128 were shipped and the two boxes arrived empty and sealed back up. My guess is someone at the usps distribution center heard the sound of coins looked into the package seen the btc logo on the coins and thought he hit the jackpot than stole the contents and sealed them back up. It hurts bad right now, but I will bounce back. If you see these coins on ebay, or wherever they are stolen coins. They are not loaded thankfully but it still sucks. I have 80 or so sets left of series 2 coins I have to put together I still plan on releasing at some point. Anyway if anyone sees them for sale anywhere let me know. I have not sold a single coin to anyone so if you see one its stolen https://i.imgur.com/7E5d7uI.jpg?1 Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: BobbyCoins on July 01, 2022, 04:36:25 PM Just read this on '[Pre Sales] 1HoDLCUB Fine Gold 999.9 Bitcoin chips': https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5379676.180 Shipping has become a serious problem! Even when parcels are tracked down to their specific locations... in the end no one is resoponsible. Just not funny. So indeed almost all the Gold Chips arrived at their destination, exactly 30, and unfortunately, following the confirmation of the post office following an international search, the Gold Chips serial 1, 2, 3 were stolen / lost, they never arrived at destination, the tracking no longer had an update after going through customs and arriving at the first sorting centre. The buyer was fully refunded arrived at 25 days of sending the package, 1 week ago I received written confirmation from the post office that the package is lost/stolen. First time a package has been stolen/lost and it happened with the Goldies! ;D Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: krogoth on October 14, 2022, 11:51:05 AM https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5417090.0
Hello everyone Please note that coins listed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5415734.0 Coin#121 is missing. 121 silver was sent like the usual. But this Package was opened at customs. We had sent even more coins to other people e.g. 10 coins in one package, etc. but never before coins were stolen. We will keep this post updated with more info. Please check if someone tries to sell you coin #121. It looks like the Silver coin in the poster above. I don't have the thread but I think 200 were made and only 84 made it to sale.
Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: raghavsood on September 05, 2024, 07:37:13 PM After some discussion with some other members, I have expanded the flags on the collectibles tracker by having a dedicated page for them: https://collectible.money/flagged
This will list out scams, compromised, and lost/stolen items in a single place - hopefully, this also helps with search engine visibility so that someone who does come across a lost/stolen item has a higher chance of figuring it out. Previously, seeing a flag required you to visit the exact pages affected by that item/series - you had to know what you were looking for, which isn't great for people trying to get an overview of lost/stolen items or determine if the one they have is one of them by checking a list. As always, if you have any more items that should be marked as lost/stolen, drop me a PM or email and I'll take care of it. Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: raghavsood on September 06, 2024, 06:46:26 AM There are more stolen coins: A whole collection of 51 coins from OTOH was stolen, he details it on his website from 2015. OTOH: https://otoh.com/Missing-Coins-Reward/ Pretty sure these are still missing unless he can confirm otherwise. Thanks for that - all 51 items have been flagged. I believe also this thread should be a sticky for quick reference for collectors when contemplating transactions. Also, I remember seeing a thread somewhere of how individual coins within collections looked in their peeled state with some keys being either damaged or unintelligible in some cases. That information would be crucial for me in making a decision whether to purchase or not. Does anyone know where that thread is? I can’t seem to locate. I really want to get a CI coin but I think I remember hearing that the printed keys were not easy to read/ decipher once holo was peeled resulting in lost funds. Might be able to narrow down the area they were stolen in to help with the search. There are only so many people that handle packages within the system from destination to destination. Obviously a longshot with the time since the theft, but worth a shot to possibly find the culprit! Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: Otoh on February 04, 2025, 05:11:49 PM Hi stacking
Well they were shipped from ANACS which are now based at Englewood, CO 80155, I don't know if this is where they were, and sent from, ten years ago or not, at the time I was visiting a friend in Sierra Madre, CA 91024 & used a P.O. Box there at Sierra Madre, CA 91025 to receive these back from ANACS, separately I also had an eBay package stolen which I'd had sent there, that time it was also cut open but all the contents were taken, so as sent from different locations the rat in question could have been based in Sierra Madre, or more likely the main PO in Arcadia I guess, but it could also have been someone working in the PO which ANACS used, I haven't checked if that has been a regular occurrence but someone did tell me that they though this happened quite a lot, in the past anyway, I don't know about now, probably would have been better to have used FedEx or something. It could even have happened in the ANACS mail room, or in transit to their PO, all speculation anyway. Good luck and many thanks for taking an interest, one day I may make a return visit there and file a police report on it locally, but I'm not sure that would really help much now, but if they resurfaced it could do no harm I expect. Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: Otoh on February 04, 2025, 05:16:30 PM I consigned them in person direct with ANACS's stand at the Long Beach, CA. coin show that I came over to the States for, and I stayed until they returned them to me.
Title: Re: Stolen / missing items overview Post by: Otoh on March 13, 2025, 08:16:32 PM I've been asked to report the scamming theft of 3 BTC from someone that I know well, they slipped up badly and sent them to someone who was impersonating a friend of theirs, and so on their behalf I'm offering a reward of 10% on any of the coins that are retrieved, or returned, plus a reward of up to $1,000 (my judgement upon the info's worth) for the first person who reports any movement of them to a crypto exchange, or somewhere where they may be able to be frozen, or better yet where the perp/s may be traced and prosecuted, hopefully.
No rewards offered for info of any moves to mixers, or dark web sites, except at my discretion and likely to be around $100 for the first report of that. $500 reward for the first person to ID what the bc1qlddfc5psmhfp4z6ckzwp7nhxrwsa7dfp8gz383 addie is, where they sent a token amount just after the scam, and then withdrew it back again. Hi Otoh and thanks cygan for let me know about this Topic and Thread.First at all i just did a quick overview of your mentioned Addresses. The Scammer Address bc1qun3ue8c5j4qgs72qefs9szsngs6ledu83f048z was only Created on the 26.02.2025 23:26 and the Latest activity was on 03.03.2025 18:13 Source : https://tokenscope.com/en/address/bc1qun3ue8c5j4qgs72qefs9szsngs6ledu83f048z/btc/btc (https://tokenscope.com/en/address/bc1qun3ue8c5j4qgs72qefs9szsngs6ledu83f048z/btc/btc) Just to show whats going on and how many other Addresses involved in that whole thing look at this: From my experience of the last years and that cases i have done some research i would say its an Exchange or Bitcoin Service you can use: The Orange Marked arrow on the Picture is the first Address where the funds got moved from the Scammers. https://i.ibb.co/FLGWLYKM/Investigation-Otoh.png Source : https://explorer.bitquery.io/bitcoin/address/bc1qun3ue8c5j4qgs72qefs9szsngs6ledu83f048z/graph (https://explorer.bitquery.io/bitcoin/address/bc1qun3ue8c5j4qgs72qefs9szsngs6ledu83f048z/graph) Settings here are Outbound 4 and specially for the Address bc1qlddfc5psmhfp4z6ckzwp7nhxrwsa7dfp8gz383 There are already some more Addresses involved in that Scam and what i can i can see from the Scammer Address. So i would say that its a well organized group of scammers with more members or an direct attemp to scam your Friend. That things that i found was just an normal research and nothing speciall i was looking on it. If i have the time i will be looking more into that over the weekend and next Week. Its all a bit more time intensiv as most of all know and it takes some time. My friend has written it off as to needing to learn a lesson the hard way, and doesn't expect that they'll see any of the coins back again, but we would still like to track what has happened as much as possible, and how it all progresses when the coins move again The first addie that they sent a test transfer (I guess) to, may be a complete red herring, as surely they're smart enough to know that once the funds landed in their scammer receiving addie then they were in the bag and there was no need to check that by moving any, perhaps they wanted to show, and so prove, to some third party that they really had landed that catch, who knows? Could even be kidnapped to Myanmar forced scammer/s, in which case I wish them well, maybe they get to now eat steak for one week, and not have their kidneys harvested ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though I doubt that this is the present case here... of course it's very difficult and time-consuming to find the right criminals here, but you should never give up because maybe the criminals will make a mistake...
