Title: Newbie Mining Questions, what would you do? and why?
Post by: MikeBuzz on February 26, 2017, 10:31:22 PM
Hi, sorry if these has been asked before, but i have searched and cannot find anything to really confirm either way.

At the moment i have 1x Sapphire R9 290x Tri-x OC running in a standard desktop, the plan was to buy the following, and then add to it over time

ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0
2x Sapphire AMD R9 290X TRI-X OC
EVGA 1000W PSU

As the 290x came first i stuck this in a desktop i had laying round and loaded up Nicehash to see what i could get from the card, and so far i think the results are not bad, but maybe i am wrong

Now i have been offered the following for a good price and not sure if should return the above and go with this or keep with the 290x

•Celeron G1840 Processor
•Asrock H81 Pro BTC motherboard
•4 x XFX Black RX 470 GPU
•Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8GB Memory
•Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD Hard disk
•EVGA 1000 GQ 80 Plus GOLD power supply

Power usage is of no concern to me as i have a source of free power, so what should i do, or maybe there is a better option??

Nicehash is a good long-term solution for stable profit. Other than that, you could go altcoin hunting and try to mine coins you'd speculate they'd go up in value, but bear in mind that this is mostly worth doing if you'd rather spend power and time instead of capital (mining instead of buying if you think the price will rise).

First of all if you buy this, get that EVO 850, and sell it, and buy the cheapest 120gb or smaller ssd... you dont need it in a mining rig... It's waaaay overkill...

If the price is good, go for it...but dont expect ROI over night...

So going with the 4x RX470 is better than the 2x 290x, price wise they are more or less the same costs in total setup
