We are planning to integrate a user chat into SpaceBTC's trading tab, and would like to know what features you prefer having in chats and which ones you find obtrusive.

We already have a live chat for users with technical problems, but user's can communicate with each other yet.

Assuming that the usernames will be visible, an option to distinguish moderators from normal users would be nice (probably different colors), the ability to mention users using "@" and having the message highlighted to whoever you are sending to could also makes things easier. Adding time is also important as Liqui, Poloniex and other exchanges don't have that feature, It's always good to know when a message was posted, If you think that adding that will make the chatbox just bigger then you could make it a Tooltip on the message Itself.

Something innovative than just copy others so you have something unique compared to other platforms. Though, you should consider first what OmegaStarScream discussed. These basic stuff are essential in any chat. I would say what I haven't seen on chats is to export chats. Sometime I think that is useful. Then you could also offer to have a private messaging too or trading through the chat.

I just imagine if there is a chat box, it makes me able to ignore the other users are trying to trolling us. I think will be like to use it. I don't ever see it before, but is it possible?

- Sound notification when someone tagged your name in chat
- Option to close the chat tab if they don't like to get disturbed by the trolls
- Active moderators to clear all the mesh from chat logs
- Clear text and background color combination, to make it easy to read. Also different colors for message written by mods and admin. Including different color for text written by us to differentiate it from others.

- ability to send/receive PMs is a must
- I would love to be able to quick copy/fill (with TAB) name of the user I want to talk to
- I would like my name to be highlighted when someone has typed it
- some basic chat commands: /ignore, /disconnect, /clear
- chat statuses like AFK, Online, Busy

Yes, all of the features that must be in chat and it's very important. Maybe a little added it would be better if it had a feature can send pictures because between users can send images such as columns market fluctuations, etc. that will help. Or maybe to make chat between users more lively to add features attractive stickers. It would make between users more frequent to communicate.

I don't know if this still is working, but one from the best features i ever seen in chat have implemented https://luckyb.it/
They have lottery for users that are active in conversation, help other users etc.. As a result, they did not even need a moderator :)

I agree with you think. all of these features are very important to support the service. many people will choose a service excellence. I'm sure there will be a significant improvement when this feature is incorporated into a system.

Make it easy to sign up, just name, password and optional email.  Have extra security for people who want it (2FA etc).  Ability to PM users with notification sound on PM is a must.

what about translating feature or grammar help. probably there will be people who English is not their mother tongue or second language, so they can use the translation tool to get communicated with the other user.

A tip bot in any chat is always fun. It will also make the quality of discussion higher, funnier and smarter. And it always feels good to get a tip or two after making a witty retort with someone.

This is pretty much it. But it would be nice if theres a notification that someone messaged you. It would also be nice if we can block trollers in chat.

I would like to add another to this list and that would be chat suggestions, that will make the things faster than usual.

A private chat feature would be nice too. Im sure most of you have used IRC or something the same at some point in your internet lives. So something like that would really help if you want to talk to a single person at a time.

Maybe tipping user who tipe message in chat and picture and version to android and iPhone.

Tipping users for every written message is impossible. Just a few spammers would make moderators double work 24/7. But if moderator will have option of tipping for interesting/helpfull informations, it for sure will make this chat more usefull.

I feel it will invite more spammers than interesting/useful/helpful users. It will be a tough job for the moderators to differentiate between that spam.

I want features that can send and receive files,with the option to see my chat mates desktop once connected. This is only an option that both party approves as this may become a security risk or threat also.

While it is a neat feature, and certainly worth implementing. I am afraid it will be used to spread malicious files anyway.
It doesn't matter if you need to approve incoming files manually. Soon there will be bots sending files randomly to everyone.
I expect that maybe 1 in 100 chat users (or less) might get tricked into installing it.

The feature I would like to see in a chat would be to earn satoshis per message or per minute online in chat with extra random satoshis when someone writes something. I already saw some sites doing this, the profit isn't big, but it's fun.

that would be a good feature to see in a chat but also i think i would like to see more live emoji and interactive ones where we can express our feelings from it.

Rainbots,local chatbox,and also little games just like what messenger do and have some little competition nor betting selection on us.

1. PM (Private Message) is important,

2. If someone mention our name notifications will arrive us,

3. Name mentioning feature like '@'. If some someone need to mention his chat simply put '@' symbol and enter our first letter it show all the name for that starting letter,

4. Hastag feature is main to highlight the latest trending topics,

5. Online, away, busy status must available

Yeah i think that's too bad but honestly he idea isn't bad maybe we can give tipping for someone that's we likes in chat and maybe the owner can give reward for who being active in chat room.

Though what is the point in tipping if this is not a cam site or a gambling site? If it is, like for example, wechat, viber, imessage, and other messaging apps, then what is the point in tipping other people? There is no economy in those kinds of chats. This is kinda true in trading sites too. The chats are for people to share ideas and about what they think about some coins.

I prefer to see the chat for the GIF image because it looks very funny and engaging in the act of giving that I think is good or joke on my friends in chat chatting for fun and laughter. maybe it makes me really like. ;)

Of course bitcoin doesn't have market at all in weChat, viber, iMessage, etc. because those are messaging applications that can be used by anyone. It's not focused on one topic alone. But OP's chat is. Adding a tip feature isn't that unique/special at all since you always see that on other sites.

The point of tipping here would be someone has helped you with your problems. Although you're not obliged to do so, it'd be still cool if you tip them.

I remember when bluetrade has a rainbot feature on their chat, spammers came to the chat all the time and makes the chat became so disgusting. Tipping feature is indeed good sugestion but perhaps its better if it is only working like user to user tip or admin to user.
