Title: Ledger Nano S - can i import private keys? Post by: European Central Bank on March 02, 2017, 08:12:41 PM i'm looking into hardware wallets. i dig the look of the nano s but i can't find much info about importing the private keys from my existing paper wallets.
is this possible or does everything depend on generating a brand new setup when you get it going? i'm assuming you can't as the seed won't cover them but it would be good to have it confirmed. You have to set up the Nano S with the Chrome bitcoin app, which does not have the ability to sweep private keys. Sweep the private keys to a wallet like Blockchain.info then send to an address in your newly set up Nano S. If you know your way around Electrum once your Nano S is set up you can start Electrum and have it connect to your Nano S then sweep keys directly from paper wallet into Electrum. Funds will go to a new address in your Nano S. I am digging using my Nano S with Electrum as I have dynamic fees enabled and also replace by fee. When I send if somehow Electrum sets the fee too low I can click on the replaceable transaction and bump the fee. Right now with congestion that is a good option to have, and I always set the fee slider in Electrum to HIGH. Title: Re: Ledger Nano S - can i import private keys? I've been able to claim for most of my wallets but haven't done the blockchain.info wallet yet and was wondering if the ledger was an option because I have one on the way to me. Thanks I don't think you can import blockchain.info into the ledger as the ledger is using the private keys stored on the device and importing would defeat the security of the hardware device. You should be able to import the wallet or individual addresses into Electron Cash though. I'd recommend first moving your BTC coins to a new wallet such as the Ledger before you attempt to import these into Electron Cash. I believe you can import Blockchain.info wallets as a BIP39 seed into Electron Cash. Title: Re: Ledger Nano S - can i import private keys? Thanks coinomi is an easier option. you can import the blockchain.info seed directly into it and there's your bcash. that's if your blockchain wallet is an hd one which i presume it is. |
