Since the Soviet Union ceased to exist ,Ukraine and many other Republics have their own autonomy and they don't need Russia to approve or disapprove things. I support Ukraine and not Russia. That is why the Russians replaced it with the Turkish Stream. But it was shrewd strategy from Merkel. She blocked the South Stream, and at the same time, she granted permission for Nord Stream 2. Now all the Russian gas needs to be transported through Germany.
