Title: Build your own fpga miner, anyone done this?

Where'd you source your parts? How difficult was the soldering?

I have only seen pictures of FPGAs, but from what I can tell they are really small SMD solders, even under ICs. Pretty much impossible to DIY even for a professional, unless you own an industrial solder machine. But I can't say that that goes for all FPGAs, maybe there is building kits. I don't know.

That's pretty simple for me, but maybe not for a complete soldering n00b. I don't know how good you are at soldering. All SMD is already complete, only the FPGA itself and the connectors left. I want one :-)

Read a few posts down.

But I'm not sure about the programming of the FPGA. I hope there are ready-made programs and step-by-step instructions somewhere.

Sorry, I got it all wrong. That includes the under-chip-SMD soldering, but with more-or-less household items. I'd guess if I were to try and make a hundred of those, maybe two would work. The rest would be bricks. Not worth the time and money.
