The son of renowned boxer Muhammad Ali was detained by officials at a U.S. airport for the second time in little more than a month, according to a tweet posted Friday by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla. Wasserman Schultz, former chair of the Democratic National Committee, posted a photo of herself and Muhammad Ali Jr.

“On way home on DOMESTIC FLIGHT Muhammad Ali Jr. detained AGAIN by @DHSgov. Religiously profiling son of ‘The Greatest’ will not make us safe,” she wrote.

After the 9/11, the security and surveillance in the international airports were increased, and a lot of people get detained as a result of it. Another thing  is that a large number of plane hijackers have the first name as "Mohammed".

Exactly. This is the second time that Muhammad Ali Jr was detained. This is crystal clear that this is directly linked to the President 's order to ban Muslim for entering United States. But Ali Jr is an American citizen. Of course, he wouldn't deny that he is a Muslim but he is also an American. I know that the executive order in binding but this could be a subject for legal review. This order's preferential treatment of Christians over Muslims violates the first amendment on freedom of religion IMHO.

A better clue regarding the 9/11 hijackers would not have been surname pattern matching, but their origins from Saudi Arabia.

They have no right to go to another country and have a rally about Erdogan in a foreign country ..

Exactly! I agree with you. Ali Jr. is an American citizen, but he detained because having a name in Arabic. He was detained in the country where he lived and it was very unreasonable. America as the largest democracy is not supposed to do that, it would eliminate democracy in America on religious freedom. This policy must be changed because it is not perfect if run.

I am sure that Mr. Mohammed Ali Jr might have traveled hundreds of times by air. He never had any issues, with the exception of these two isolated incidents. Every year, tens of thousands of people are detained at the American airports. But none of them make such hue and cry.

Excellent reply. Every day, dozens if not hundreds of individuals are detained at airports within the United States and abroad. Only a very small fraction of these individuals happen to be Muslims. Also, out of the millions of Muslims who travel by air every year, only a very small fraction get detained.
