Title: Motherboard/CPU/PSU combo to run 4 ATI 7950s
Post by: mxc0bbn on April 22, 2013, 05:36:47 AM
I have an idea what I think I should be buying to run these cards, but I just want to see what you guys think and whether it's in line with what I'm thinking.

One specific question I have is: Would a 1000W PSU be ok to run these?  I know they can run around 200w each at load so figure with not much else running (other than the MB/RAM/CPU)

you'll wanna grab a 1200watt at least, when they advertise 1000watt, they are talking about a peak load that your psu will not run stabely at. You want a nice buffer to make sure small power spikes dont knock your rig offline and that your PSU is running within its optimal work range.

besides, your really killing your oppurtunities to overclock the cards and get the most bang for your buck!

and for cooling I would recommend 'PCI-E Extension Cable 1x To 16x Slot Extender Riser Card Adapter' search on ebay.
