Title: Which wallet do you use?
Post by: uMMcQxCWELNzkt on April 22, 2013, 03:52:34 PM
At the moment I am using Bitcoin-QT which works fine, however out of curiosity I would like to know which wallet(s) you use, trust and why? Looking at Bitcoin.org these are some of the options although I am sure other alternatives are available.

Software Wallet
  • Bitcoin-QT
  • Multibit
  • Armory
  • Electrum

Mobile Wallet
  • Bitcoin Wallet

Web Wallet
  • Blockchain
  • Paytunia
  • BIPS
  • Coinbase

Hi, using Bitcoin-QT for that. On a severely secured PC. And once I don't need my bitcoins, the wallet.dat file is removed, since I do not want any excess vulnerability as to my wallet.

For this very same reason I'm not using any mobile wallet, nor any web wallet.
I don't trust other parties with it.

Yeah I have never and never will consider storing large sums in online wallets without an imminent transaction in mind. I was mainly curious about the offline wallets as I have never seen them mentioned in threads before.

Armory for the win Wink!  Just to flexible with hot and cold wallets made pretty easy.

It has been a RAM hog but that has been improved.  Down side (depending on your outlook) is you need bitcoin-qt to have the blockchain on your machine for at least hot wallets.  Not needed on a cold wallet storage.  This is being worked on now I am pretty sure.

paper for me.

I generated the addressed offline, printed them up as certificates, had them laminated. then send btc to the funding address. Now they rest securely offline with a copy in a second location to protect against destruction by fire.
