What are your top 5 altcoins at the moment to trade for profit or invest in?

if you want fast take profit in trading you can choose coin with big volume transaction

but if only have low capital money is good altcoin trading use coin is low price, example dogecoin

im new to this but i got a couple grand invested in 5 coins.

Ripple i got in early  now the price has gone to pot! I got ripple'd off!

this is always a bad question.
and to find the answer you need to do it on your own, people here will only advertise the bags they are holding in 99% of the times!

and for trading just check altcoins that have a high enough daily trade volume and are not in a bubble.
for trade volume it is easy, just change the chart to 1 day charts and check the daily volume.
for bubble again on the same chart you need to look for a flat line or a big sharp drop in price to get it. when you saw a big sharp rise be sure that it is already too late to get in.

although there are a lot more, but what i said is the important part.

I suggest altcoin suitable for trading is,

3 top of that I would suggest is altcoin very nice, because it has little value and own advantage, while eth and dash for the moment have a good time to sell.

BitBay- this is very undervalued in my opinion go research it but dont hang about I think its about to lift off.

If you have under 3 BTC to invest just go all in. That is my personal opinion research yourself first.

If you have more to spend..

there are a few others that are undervalued but bay has been held down for years below its true value.

3. ltc - got to pump sometime
4. bbr (if CZ returns like he says he will after some time ...who knows)
5. doge - but community needs to take action.

I have made good profit with margin trading in polo recently and currently making more by trading ETH and DASH on every price swing.  ;D

I think WBB is definitely worth a look but it will be a more long term one, Bitbay also seems to be one which might be on the move soon, although at this time it is already 80% up since yesterday.

PEPECASH is a huge opportunity you don't wan to miss out on. It's already up 100% in the last 10 days alone.

There is a ton of great momentum that is sure to keep the price rising. Not only is it on a good uptrend, but the buy book support has been increasing daily. It has risen from 6btc to 50btc over the last couple weeks. The volume has also seen an increase of about 500% since earlier in the month. Clearly there is new money coming in, and lots of interest.

On top of the good price indicators there is also a ton of development going on. Booster packs could potentially become available by the end of this week.

That seems reasonable in a way but I think that even having about $40 for trading it's okay to try with those worth around $20. So, you just buy 1 or 1.5 of a coin which is starting to grow in price and has been quite stable over the last month and wait till it becomes twice as much. Then it's up to you whether to make it a long-term investment or withdraw, earn some money out of it and try with another coin.
For me there is a big problem with trading that you need to create new wallet for each currency and spend some time finding out how it works. That's what stops me from being a trader.

If for this month Edgeles is not suitable for investment use because EDG prices are falling, Now EDG rate is bad and every day the price is always down, maybe the traders have no interest anymore with EDG

I'd take LTC before BTC, ETH, and Ripple at this point but XEM before any of these. Best tech.  Basically I'd put money in XEM and LTC for "storage" when I'm not in the smaller altcoins... Best relative percentage appreciation potential, though really XEMs tech is 10 steps ahead of LTC.

For me, if i have a bitcoin in my wallet and I would like to invest it in alt coins, there are two that you may consider. That short trade and for the long trade. If you want a lonf trade you may try eth and many more that has been years in the industry, if you want for a short trade go for the new coins that has been released in the markets.

I won't list any alt that already have a high price like ethereum or monero, although it's a good investment, but the return is too low so i prefer to invest on something with low value at the moment with more than 2x ROI opportunity.

It's a much better currency than a lot of the others. It has proof of stake/importance, lightning fast transaction times, the ability to handle 3000 transactions per second, fast block times, with (relatively) low fixed fees that remove the guesswork. Also, you can attach messages to the transactions for a small cost, which other coins have copied recently. For trading purposes I'd much rather use NEM as a storage medium than BTC because the fees are getting excessive and the delay in the transactions if you don't pay a good fee is a hindrance to profit. It solves a lot of the problems bitcoin has.  There won't be 50,000+ unverified transactions if NEM is the major coin in use. There won't be any.  Also the next revision should see lower fees, as the fees were devised when NEM was trading for much less.

An evolution to the blockchain called "catapult" is coming and will be the basis of what is known as the private blockchain known as Mijin, which is gaining popularity in Japan among banks.

Here's a detailed (somewhat long winded) video that goes through some of the features.  Basically it's designed to be attractive for business, with high scalability along with transparency and tracability and security. As much as I respect bitcoin, solutions like this are the future of the blockchain.  Also another video on his 6 favorite.  This one was one of the more useful I've come across for researching currencies. Now I'm researching more into service coins at the present, with focus on coins that promise to be "decentralized exchanges" to see what I come up with and how viable this tech might be.

I have begun selling a bit of my stake as prudent investing to not keep all eggs in one basket, but part of me regrets it because of the tech present here. Only about 5-10% so far. Assuming the bubble doesn't pop, I see XEM hitting $2B market cap and going head to head with litecoin.  I am retarded though, so don't trust my analysis. Do your own DD. Most of the interest currently comes from Japan, where Mijin is focused. It's relative popularity and hype here on this forum is relatively low, though in voting polls there's clearly a silent audience here who thinks it has potential.

If you're not going to buy XEM, then buy LTC or ETH, or transfer your BTC to LTC or ETH, in my opinion. Segwit is a step in the right direction, though to me seems like more of a patch to old technology than something revoluationary.  You'll get better relative return for your money in LTC and ETH than BTC, in my opinion, though I have no plans to buy ETH when there's XEM at a fraction of the market cap.  I kind of like that we've stablized here around 52 billion.. it can stay parked right here for all I care.. it's good for the economy to not have a massive bubble run that continues  to accelerate and to have consolidation without a crash. Looking at the charts though, it's likely this is just a cup and handle consolidation pattern and the runup will continue in a day or four.

Again, do your own DD. I am retarded and do have a vested interest in XEM aside from what I think about the tech. This is dumbass, signing off.

I am a very old school minded guy, I always believe the top 5 ones are the biggest ones. If your goal is active trading (rather than buy-and-hold) then you just need to criteria to be met: liquidity and volatility.

Anything in the top 10 should satisfy that, so I would focus in on just one where you have a strong understanding of the underlying token, and closely monitor all available communication channels (BTT, Reddit, Slack, etc).

Nice work! XEM is still underappreciated for what it is, which is why I've held my stake as long as I have and still have 2/3 of it.  I see it as the ideal currency to replace bitcoin, especially when Catapult is implemented and fees are reduced.. they're working on the fee thing now.

I'm looking for the market to tell me this.

The filter I use is: keep an eye on top 20 in market cap.
Then follow increasing 24h volume.
Once volume is steadily increasing for a number of days, get in.

This method got me into DASH when it was trading at $20... and on ETH when it was $40
I'm now entering XEM (or NEM) although I must say I don't much like the activity around it: it has little to no social mentions and even it's own forum isn't that much active.

Gridcoin is getting quite popular lately. I  bought 30.000 a month ago and am already profiting good. The community is also huge so I think it will be one of the main winners of 2017.

Now that I'm fully invested, I'll mention xtrabytes, a proof of signature coin that has unique technology to verify transactions.  Trading pretty cheap with an active development team. Don't get me wrong it's pretty crude compared to a robust platform like XEM but it has potential with it's $4.5M market cap, especially once it hits better exchanges.

I think altcoin is best for now and for the inves, I prefer with.

There is currently an eth token that only has a marketcap of 30-60k USD currently (just recently finished an ico). I have just found out about and am trying to invest, an equilavent coin currently has a market cap up upwards of 15 million. It is a risk as any coin is, but considering the low, low market cap, once it hits exchanges in a month it will likely rise significantly. When the new updated lite client comes on Waves, I do hope it has etherdesign's layout and some more trading pairs.
Then Waves will shine brighter. For now it's unpolished, raw. But functional.

If you want to stay safe, BTC and LTC. This is probably not the best time to invest in other cryptos, most of them pumped and hyped.

It depends on what you want out of them.  Over extreme long term, Doge and Litecoin are not going to back peddle much and will likely be valued higher in the future.  If you are looking at things like heavy tech features prominently displayed in the coins, ETH and NXT pop up.
 

Burst and Storj and others like that have a pretty different system for mining.  The trading exchanges have some winners, but by the time you have looked them up the numbers have changed.  It is a fast market and you just have to watch the signals.
 

They are different but it is the same as other cloud platforms such as Google or Alibaba. if you let them rent the storage, you will get the money. That is it. Nothing special. However, I think it is a good way to earn some money from this new form of mining since most of VGA are sold out

For all the long term traders here; could you substantiate your coin choices in a fact-based way? With fact-based I don't mean "they have a great dev team", rather technological and commercial advantages. I totally miss this discussion here; most just throw in names of coins but hardly explain why they think that this particular coin will have a fruitful future.  :) 

It seems to me confused if I have to choose because some coins have their own advantages that can be relied upon in long-term trading, so all this time I only do short-term trading with some coins like xrp, doge, and ptoy. :)

Indeed, if we had to choose the major coin coins in trade and investment, it seems confused to determine because basically all coins are built with the best performance system, and with good marketing support will have a positive value in the market

Zencash Active community and Devs, badly undervalued. Good road map as well.

Ethereum Had its moment in the sun and has matured. Unless it can scale it won't gain much from here.

Waves as all we know, there is talks about the waves on the market and their ICO has been launched succesfully. They have shown all the potential and for me the test is passed and this is the time we invest into it.

Monero, well i mine it over the GPU and it has given me lots of profits in recent days. The value is very very stable currently and the hard fork can happen at anytime. Thats why monero is my choice currently.
