Spacer

I will compare the two.

One is usb 2 and has served me well

the new one is usb 3

have my 1 pac and 2 pac sticks at 200 freq on the silver

I have them attached to a win 10 lenovo m700.

I will use this as a test bed for sidehack sticks and pods when they come out.

Been drinking wine tonight in the morning I will post a little more.

I have to find my little meters from dork.

Frankly this hub with usb 3 specs and 2 amps plus per   port should be ideal much better then the silver usb.

I am waiting for flinty to get back to me on the shipping and payment details.  As this is it is 220 + 40 = 260 on usa ebay.

I will pay him btc I guess on Friday.

typical meter for testing

Where did you get those 2 to 1 usb boards philip?

Where did you get those 2 to 1 usb boards philip?

Got them in 2014  and no one makes them anymore.

They are fitting the silver stud hub  and may fit the black one.

If someone knows of a builder that would make them I would send one to copy.

Maybe make it a bit beefier.

As the black stud hub can send 4 amps into that bridge .

that would burn it up  that bridge can do 3 amps max.

I have  2 or 3 of them.  I sent 2 to Valkir yesterday  as he has a silver usb 2 stud hub.

I sent Klintay the coins to buy it today. He gave me a discount  of about 55 usd.  That is for the review.

They are great boards. I wonder if finsky or optimizer have the resources to get some developed. I was trying to get one of J4bberwocks isb/molex passthrough boards but no one get can hold of him.

or even klintay  as they are a perfect match  for the older silver usb 2

and hopefully for the newer black usb 3

I am not a developer, so unfortunately I wouldn't be able to develop any custom boards like that.  Optimizer should be able to, same with sidehack.  They are very talented guys. J4bberwock has been tied up with personal life AFAIK for the past little while, and I have my hands full with demand from data centres at the moment.

That's why I didn't mention you. Knew you are busy with 2pacs and dev work of the pod  ;)

And my own USB stud hub. Not 19 ports and not with a built-in PSU though, this one Phil's looking at is pretty slick.

Phil did mention sometime a month or so ago seeing if I could build some of those bridges. Probably wouldn't take much, really, if I had one to pattern. I reckon we should see if they work on this new hub first.

it is shipped and on the way.

once I review and test .

I will send a working bridge to you.

the bridges allowed for a 400 freq on a single stick with a strong fan.

the bridge allows for 275 freq on the 2 pac  using the silver .9 amp  hub.

So if you build one from the prototype it will need better traces  but it should work.

buy it and test it.

I would but I purchased mine from a seller I have done business with,

the one you mention could be better or not.  It also will take  at least a month to arrive.

the more expensive 169 dollar 5v  40amp one come  may 3 to may 19

I took a good look at it on amazon since I did own the model in 2012 it was of the usb 2.0 style and used an external brick.

I short it but it was my fault not the hub.

the psu in the better model you linked is this one

https://www.trcelectronics.com/ecomm/pdf/lrs200.pdf

the lrs-5   it is an efficient psu  close to 87%  if you feed it 240 volts    it could be a good hub

it does use 2   usb 3.0 cables

and you can jack the psu from 5 volts to 5.5  which helps if you are running a lot of sticks.

if maybe a nice unit.

maybe I will review it after I do Klintay's  stud hub.

On my 49 port hub I am pulling 30 or so watts with 4 2pacs at 275Mh 2 usb fans, and the PINE64 that is running them.  When I ran them at 300mh they would pull 99watts.  Not worth the extra wattage.

I'm pretty sure there's a problem with your wattmeter's accuracy.

yeah   30 watts  jumping to 99 watts

and freq going from 275 to 300 is not accurate  or some weird issue.

Post office says my hub cleared New York Customs  on Friday the 7th

So I may get it on Monday.  will post if it shows.

Update :

My USB 3.0 Hub works well with Raspberry 3.0.  I will post pictures later.

Have my 4 2pacs running 275mh and the new hub with 2 USB fans and the pi  is pulling 78watts.

Definitely more efficient then the 49 port hub.

I hacked the fans and remove the front that was blocking the airflow. Now running 4 of them at 300 hz and they don't run hot.
