Title: SomeONE is pushing the price down
Post by: Karma on June 17, 2011, 06:53:15 PM
Has anyone else noticed that there are a lot of 0.15 BTC sells lately (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6090200/Public%20Images/bitcoin_015push.png)?

Like... as if someone (!) is slowly and carefully lowering the price of BitCoin and causing people to "panic" and sell their coins cheap.

I mean, come on. This is no coincidence. Social engineering win, and fail at the same time.

EDIT: By the way, I'm using this Chrome extension (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mplfonagphbambbggaghimbbhpjhapap) to see the current value and log.

I don't think so. The market is just going through a phrase and hopefully it'll go back up.

You don't think what? That there's not somebody selling 0.15 coins over and over, snailing the price downwards?

I can't believe several people just HAPPENED to have exactly 0.15 BTC.

Or am I missing something?

I watched it live the last 10 hours. Most of the time it's just boring skirmishes here and there, but once in a while somebody dumps giant sums of coins into the market to push through the 17 16 15 14 borders all in a few seconds. He succeeds and the border breaks. Then it jumps almost back up and continues to tribble downwards.

Well a few pools have a minimum payout of 0.1 so it could be people cashing out... at a really small amount... and that reason it probably just a clutch at small straw.

I think that we're at the point where a sizable amount of traffic on mtgox is generated from trading bots, while early adopters with large BTC wallets are trying to slowly cash out while the price is high.

Seems like normal market correction to me.

#1 you think there's no bots for tradehill?
#2 bitcoin7 is a security train wreck

If you wanna buy bitcoins now is a great time to and just hold them. If it goes down more then buy more and just hold them.
