Title: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on June 17, 2011, 08:51:51 PM This stone is from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) and has an independent laboratory report. It weighs 2.11 carats and is cornflower blue. It has superb color as well as outstanding clarity and brilliance. I am a GIA Graduate Gemologist and have been a gemstone dealer and custom jeweler since 2005. I reside in Bangkok, Thailand where I source colored gemstones at wholesale markets.

The report states no evidence of heat. Unheated sapphire is extraordinarily rare- this stone came from the ground this color; it has not been enhanced with heat. Price is $1410 per carat. It faces up quite large and appears to be a 4-carat sized stone, but it actually weighs 2.73 carats. It is a highly saturated vivid red color and the star is extremely sharp and well-defined. Because Dr. Adolph Peretti is a noted authority in ruby, I took the stone to GRS Swisslab for evaluation, and the report bears his signature. This is an unheated Mogok Burmese ruby and as such it is in the very highest echelon in the gemstone world.

There is a massive amount of glass-filled ruby on the market now and it is not durable; if your jeweler attempts to fix a prong with his torch the glass filling will soften and run out. This gemstone is flux-healed- a durable treatment that will last your lifetime and your heir's lifetime and their heir's lifetime- ad infinitum. Flux-healed ruby is not as expensive as unheated ruby but is a superb choice if you want a rare, beautiful, durable ruby with natural color.
http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3980112.jpg Because of the shape this ruby is very versatile and could easily become a magnificent pendant or a very alluring ring in either white or yellow gold- or platinum for the most discerning individual. Of course we also offer palladium for those who think outside the box! http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3980113.jpg This ruby would make a magnificent gift for someone born in July! Ruby is the traditional birthstone for the month of July and very few people own such a beautiful example of this rare stone. http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3980935.jpg This Madagascan ruby is $299 per carat and for a minimal additional charge you can get an independent laboratory report. Large size, emerald shape, and intense red color make this natural ruby a superb value. If you have any questions about this stone or would like to know more about my company please stop by our website: http://tiptopgem.com/ (http://tiptopgem.com/) My wife and I maintain a residence in Bangkok and in northwest Ohio (near Toledo) and we would be happy to serve you. We source gemstones in Thailand and also build custom jewelry here using only the most quality-conscious artisans who produce heirloom quality pieces at a highly competitive cost. I am not only a jeweler but also a Graduate Gemologist (GIA) and as such I am qualified to answer your questions about gemstones physical properties, treatments, and origin. Fewer than one in 100 jewelers in the West are Graduate Gemologists- most have no formal training at all in gemology. If you are looking for an emerald, ruby, sapphire, tsavorite garnet, tanzanite, or any other colored gemstone please get in touch with me. I would be happy to serve you. Gemstones are my passion and I love my work so it is not a chore for me to answer any questions that you might have. ~Dave ~~~Sorry the emerald shape ruby has been sold~~~ Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on June 18, 2011, 05:13:51 AM Because my wife and I live most of the time in Bangkok we have access to some of the finest stones that the industry has to offer. We consistently invest in gemstones that have widespread appeal to discerning clients and that are most likely to appreciate in value because of extreme rarity and superb beauty. This five carat tsavorite garnet is an excellent example of just such a stone.
While many gemstones are mined from different deposits all over the world, tsavorite garnet still has only a single source- in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro in the wild country of the Tsavo National Forest. The East African nation of Kenya is home to all known tsavorite deposits and while all tsavorite is rare, it is much more rare in sizes over 3 carats. At 5.10 carats, this stone is as suited to a museum as it is to the inventory of the most hard-to-please collector...or the most hard-to-impress spouse! This tsavorite has the intense green color that is so highly coveted coupled with a ridiculous amount of sparkle and brilliance and is also a very clean gemstone. It is supremely rare and you will never see such a fine gemstone in a local jewelry store as gems of this quality tend to go directly from wholesale markets in Asia to a collector's safe. It has been said that "Tsavorite garnet is the color that emerald only wishes it could be." The green of this magnificent example is other-worldly. http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981026.jpg Independent 3rd party laboratory report included. For a minimal fee, we will happily get a report from the laboratory of your choice. http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981022.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981021.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981003.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981020.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981019.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981018.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981014.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981001.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981013.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981011.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981010.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981008.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981003.jpg This very special tsavorite garnet heart is 5.10 carats and $2990 per carat. Please inquire today if you need any additional information or if you have questions about insured shipping, independent laboratory reports, or if you want to know more about other gemstones that I am offering. Few dealers in the colored gemstone trade offer the levels of quality and service that I offer to my clients. Few dealers love gemstones as much as I do, and love serving people who love them. Let's talk about that special stone for a special person. We can take any stone that you select and using the latest computerized CAD/CAM technologies we can create the most exquisite piece of jewelry you have ever seen anywhere, at any price- but we make it affordable. http://thegemvault.tiptopgem.com/ (http://thegemvault.tiptopgem.com/) Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on June 18, 2011, 05:35:46 AM Here is an example of a ring we very recently made for a client. She had been "window shopping" in the Cayman Islands and brought back an idea that really appealed to her. We exchanged a few emails and traded some pictures gleaned from google image searches, and before you know it this ring was on her finger. She is thrilled with the result and was even more shocked at the price.
Some people are not aware that often custom jewelry costs LESS than comparable quality available "off the rack" in a jewelry store. Think about this for a minute. I do not have to finance my inventory of diamonds, gold, and labor to make a piece of heirloom quality jewelry. When you select a stone that I am offering, I direct our artist to draw up the CAD image and then the model is made in wax, which is then cast in your choice of gold, platinum, white gold, palladium, or any other exotic precious metal. Local artisans here in Bangkok finish the metal and set the stones and it is shipped directly to you via FedEx- fully insured. When you shop for jewelry at your local store are you getting exactly what you want, or are you settling for the quality and style that is available? In this new technology age, there is absolutely no reason to settle. Get the stones that you want and have a unique piece of jewelry manufactured specifically for you- on your terms. Take a look at the piece of jewelry that was born of our client's trip to the Caymans, and think about letting us serve you in the same way- on your terms, with your desires and your tastes front and center. That's what we do best. http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981288.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981289.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981290.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981292.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981297.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981296.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981295.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981294.jpg http://acimg.auctivacommerce.com/imgdata/0/2/3/1/5/9/webimg/3981293.jpg Please feel free to add me as a friend on Facebook. What kind of jewelry did you make, and do you wear it?

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on June 19, 2011, 05:39:02 PM Thank you ColdHardMetal!!! I appreciate it. And yes, the star is really magnificent. It looked too good to be true when I first saw it. Usually when I take stones to GRS Swisslab I just drop them off at the window, and pick the report up when it is done. This time Dr. Peretti came out to talk to me about the stone! :) It felt pretty cool. I am no bigshot, so when someone of his caliber pays attention to the stone you bring in it boosts your ego a bit!

Forget the nasty brown-Red hues of most garnet- this is beautiful red with just a tiny splash of orange to give it a strong, vivid punch of color. This stone is just under 2 3/4 carats- it weighs 2.73 cts. The shape is perfect and the emerald cut is perfectly executed for lots of sparkle. Spinel is a close relative of ruby, and in fact the same marble host rock that creates ruby creates spinel- the only difference is the chemicals present when the gemstone forms. This natural crystal weighs .38 carats. Another interesting fact is that spinel has the same crystal "habit" as diamond. If you google "diamond octahedron" you will see!

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: MyBitcoinMint on September 03, 2011, 07:16:36 PM I almost wish I were planning on proposing to my girlfriend soon just so I could pick up one of these incredible stones! I'm in awe at the quality. When the day comes, I'll have to let you know.
Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on September 03, 2011, 07:42:42 PM LOL- thank you!!! We are definitely not like the giant companies on eBay that buy gemstones by the bucketful and have a staff of twenty to do the photos. We (my wife Melanie and I) actually go to the market ourselves and choose each and every gemstone that we sell. We virtually never buy lots- only single gemstones. In lots, dealers try to pawn off their junk stones to you, mix in a great many mid-quality, and a few really beautiful stones. Then they make the price attractive for the lot. Our problem is- we hate junk stones!!!! We just want to sell the most beautiful ones.
Remember- you don't have to propose to her in order to buy a gemstone or make custom jewelry. You can do it "just because". Try doing that when it isn't her birthday, or any other "special" occasion and see how utterly effective it is! :) Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on September 03, 2011, 09:26:07 PM Looking back over what is sold and what is not, I am amazed at some of the bargains that are still left. Some of these gemstones have spectacular color for their particular variety and species, and are very reasonably priced. Remember we also take paypal if you are hoarding your bitcoins at the moment!!!
Please ask questions if you are unsure about a particular stone or if you want to learn more about how we do business. It would be my pleasure to help you in any way that I can! ~Dave (dave@tiptopgem.com) Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: dovewing2000 on September 03, 2011, 09:29:50 PM shhhhh - dont tell them that! otherwise all the still good gems are all gone when I need to buy some!!! ;D

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on September 19, 2011, 03:54:00 PM If you think of me as a gemologist who is a gemstone dealer- you're right. But remember that my wife and I are also very experienced making custom jewelry. If you have never seen the gallery on our blog, you might not realize that we can make virtually any type of jewelry that you can imagine.
http://tiptopgem.com/TheGemVault/gallery/ (http://tiptopgem.com/TheGemVault/gallery/) A lot of people don't know that custom jewelry is usually less expensive than a comparable piece of jewelry that you buy "off the rack". You don't pay me to stock the precious metals or the stones. I don't have a lot of money in inventory that pushes my prices up. Custom jewelry is the essence of "just in time" inventory management. And because we operate out of Bangkok, we have a highly competitive labor rate. With 97 days until Christmas, don't you think that the special someone in your life deserves the most romantic, most breathtaking Christmas ever? Title: ONLY 89 days until Christmas Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on September 25, 2011, 05:17:02 PM Only 89 days until Christmas. Is there a mom, a wife, a daughter on your list? Custom jewelry is the ultimate gift!!!

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: Kluge on December 22, 2011, 10:15:04 PM I had a ring made through Dave, and the process went very well -- way better than I expected! He walked me through the process, from telling us about our choices of gems fitting the color scheme we wanted, to the characteristics of different metals, to how to get the metals to look a particular way. The aesthetic of the finished ring is exactly what we were hoping for.
For the most part, I just gave Dave a general idea of what I wanted and a budget - then he took it from there. The process was really painless, the price quite reasonable, and Dave's a great, friendly fellow to chat with. The gems are simply amazing for the price, and I'm pretty sure Dave replied within a day's time at least 95% of the times I contacted him (the remaining 5% maybe taking 36hrs or so). Most importantly, my wife absolutely loved it! I couldn't wait until Christmas to give it to her. Definitely recommend going through Dave if you want an affordable, unique, beautiful ring specially tailored to your preferences. Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on December 23, 2011, 06:13:36 AM Thank you Kluge! I appreciate the feedback. :)

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: Turbor on May 13, 2012, 08:38:29 AM I can vouch for Dave and his stones. He sold me a very nice blue sapphire lately 8). Tell him what you want and you get it. He's a top businessman.

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: SaltySpitoon on May 17, 2012, 08:08:13 PM I should probably add, Dave has the best service of any business I have ever encountered, over purchasing a moderate amount of stones, we have sent a good many pms/emails to 100% clearly communicate everything. He describes everything to a perfect Tee and informs you of anything that you could ever possibly need to know about the stones themselves or anything in general. He replies to any questions you have incredibly quickly, and I have to say half of the excitement of buying the stones had to do with just getting to talk to Dave about them. And Even Better News! As I was posting this, the mailman delivered my order! It only took 9 days to get the stones from Thailand to the U.S with registered airmail shipping package (what he offers for all orders). I can't say enough about Dave's service or professionalism, and look forward to buying more in the future. Thanks so much

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on February 18, 2014, 01:15:26 PM I make each piece custom, so it depends on whether you want diamonds or CZ or white sapphire, and depends on the size and weight and purity of the precious metal. With white sapphire and 14K white gold a very rough estimate is $3500.

Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: Ente on August 04, 2014, 09:45:46 AM I contacted Dave to buy a set of ruby.
It was a pleasure to talk to him. You can tell he really loves beautiful stones. After he figured out what I have in mind, he went to scan the local markets, to find a matching set of what I had in mind. Really putting effort into it and in contact with me, he found really great ones! I got them lab-graded too, shipping was quick and secure. These are completely untreated stones. Locally, I would pay several times of Daves price. Not to say that I saw ruby of that quality in any local showcase, ever. What can I say, Dave offers awesome quality, provides outstanding service, and with an affordable pricetag! https://i.imgur.com/KdVzqUFm.png (https://i.imgur.com/KdVzqUF.png) I am a recreational, hobby goldsmith, don't blame Dave for the ring - he provided the stone only. ;-) Also, in nature the stone has a much deeper, richer color. Those are difficult to photograph. Ente Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: Turbor on August 04, 2014, 08:20:35 PM Business with Dave was always a pleasure.
Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on September 13, 2014, 07:57:49 AM Wow, Ente and Turbor- that you so much for your kind words! Melanie and I do love gemstones, and we consider ourselves collectors. They say that if you find a job that you love, you will never work a day in your life. That is 110% true for both of us!!!
I just posted a new ruby that might be of interest to some of you: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=780829.msg8800605#msg8800605 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=780829.msg8800605#msg8800605) Our primary focus is ruby, sapphire (all colors), and emerald. We have been seeing some truly outstanding Zambian emerald lately. We just sold a 2 1/4 carat stone a few days ago. Unfortunately all I have is a cellphone camera pictures because in Bangkok you are not allowed to take cameras into the Gem and Jewelry Fair. But check this out! http://s1.postimg.org/58vyuuez3/DSC_0112.jpg I would expect this stone to appraise for $10,000 to $14,000 in America, Australia, or Western Europe but we sold it for much less. The client who bought it has been doing business with us for years and she re-sells the stones for a profit where she lives, and she can still undercut the local jewelry stores and has much better quality goods! The supply chain for colored gemstones is traditionally very long. Colored gemstones move through a lot of different hands before they finally end up in your jeweler's showcase. We cut those middlemen out and sell directly to you, the end consumer. Because we are right in the middle of the gemstone district in Bangkok, we have access to millions and millions of carats of ruby, sapphire, and emerald. We don't buy low and sell high, we buy great stones at good prices and we make a modest markup so we can turn over considerable volume. This keeps our pricing highly competitive! The emerald in the pic above is Zambian origin and is only oiled with colorless oil. It has not been dyed or chemically treated, nor has it been filled with resin in order to hide flaws. It is extraordinarily clean and of exceptionally good color. I have a superb supplier for such stones and can source these almost at will. Thank you again guys- your comments are very much appreciated. Title: Re: amazing gemstones Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on September 13, 2014, 08:04:15 AM I just want to comment on what Ente said about photographing gemstones. I agree it is extremely difficult. The main problem is that our eyes are too good at discerning color. Modern digital camera sensors are NOT that good with colors. Please, if you ever see a picture of a stone that I have listed for sale, read what I say about the color and do not rely on the pictures. There is no camera yet manufactured that can do what your eyes do. Pure hues are particularly hard to photograph. Even modern SLR's like our Nikon 3200 (24 megapixel) with a specialized macro lens and daylight macro ring will NEVER see colors as accurately as your eye. I try to do some post-processing to correct color errors made by the sensor, but even after this is done it is not 100% accurate. The ruby I have listed here on the forum is a perfect case in point. It is pure red, but the camera shows orange. In real life you will ONLY see pure red in this stone.
