First Snapchat investor says Bitcoin will be worth $500,000 dollars by 2030
Their argument is based on a growing usage for transferring money across borders and countries.

I personally think this is a little far fetched, although I never had the money or knowledge to invest in snapchat.
Perhaps I am not best qualified then to comment.

I know you guys are more knowledgeable than me, so let me know your views!

If this really is the case, even if BTC is worth 1/10th of that, its worth holding that fraction of Bitcoin for the future.

Will this cause more people to hold coins?

Any Whales out there thinking that they will finally be able to buy themselves a little Island all to themselves :D ?

The thing with that kind of statements is that it's very hard to tell whether they will turn true or not.Anything is possible,BTC may spike so much that a lot of people may feel left in the dust.It's not that exaggerated in my opinon,it all depends on what will the world situation at that point,but to say that for sure it will happen-not exactly.

i dont think so, but it is possible if and only if people will be interested and they will invested on it, and also if they will use bitcoin as their money to buy goods. bitcoin needs to be circulate in order for it to live more years and continues to grow its value.

As I have always said the most Bitcoin can live will be 10 years from now if the same continues. We have got some serious issues with fees and slower transactions which need to be fixed. If Bitcoin stay longer than that then may be $50000 per Bitcoin may be a possiblity.

We don't know what will be the price of bitcoin in the next year but as bitcoin user, I like very much if it touches to $500,000 by 2030. If this happens means many people from different of the world will become rich.

Equalling to 500,000$ seems to be a realistic statement.
Some thing like this will definitely happen in future.
But the time span mentioned I.e
By 2030 such a thing would happen ,
Is sounding a bit unrealistic.
I mean 2030 is almost just 1 decade away from now,
I dont think bitcoins will reach 500000$ so early.
But no one knows what the future holds.

a lot of these type of speculation are out there.
i think they started back in 2013 when price first started to go high with crazy speed towards the $1100 (the Gox Bubble) and by that time i remember seeing the 10K prediction from those day's news.

and i believe it is a bit hard to accept but it can be possible. not in the short term but in a couple of years. specially with countries such as Japan accepting bitcoin with open arms.

That is very feasible and it can happen but not at this point of time but possibly on 2030. This point of time we have a long way to go and if bitcoin will continue to flourish then we can actually have that value. But we can only hope for that to happen since there are many factors that can cause the failure or success of bitcoin. But we are very positive that we can still go that far since the community is growing.

Its only an speculation no enough basis that this may rise up to $500,000, its very impossible to achieve even after 30 years but no one knows this might become real, we have to earn some bitcoins for our children before we die lol..

It might happen honestly and it's true by looking at a growing usage for transferring money across borders and countries. bitcoin really fit on that, but yeah the price is too much for each bitcoin, maybe around $10.000 is still acceptable.

Nobody could really predict the what the future holds for bitcoin a well as the price of bitcoin and if there are more people coming into bitcoin and in the future there will be major investment in it then i am sure that the price would soar but it is really hard to predict the real valuation,what ever it is i am happy what ever the price would be as long as it is above $1000 .

we are on the rise and we have been for years. each year price starts low and goes up at least a 100+% and apart from 1 year only, the rest of them have been like this.

and we are still on the same path and bitcoin is still very limited. it is only 21 million for gods sake! some people seem to see the million and thing that is a lot but still that is a very small amount when you compare it with how many people are in the world and willing or will be willing to invest in bitcoin over time.

Bitcoin I think could really reach $500,000 by 2030 but I don't guarantee it since it is just there is a chance of bitcoin reaching that price by 2030. For now $500,000 BTC by 2030 got a slim chance to happen unless the volume of bitcoin usage will continue to increase as time pass by. If it decreased by even a year, BTC reaching the speculated price would just be a miracle but for now I won't say it will be since there is a chance of it happening.

All I could say is that the speculation itself is crazy since there is the slim chance of bitcoin reaching 500,000 US dollars each by 2030 since I think 2030 is too early unless there would be some kind of a good news that will drive BTC's price to the extreme making a new ath at 500,000 US dollar before the year 2030 ends. 1/10th of the speculation price might be reached but we can't know for sure maybe by that time bitcoin would only be worth 10,000 US Dollars and not even 1/10th of the speculated price.

I can very well blindly speculate that the price would cross a million in fifteen years time ,what kind of speculation is that,if they want to speculate something they have to provide some hard proof if not what is the point on making these speculation. It is good to hear those valuation and if that is true i have to consider that the valuation of dollar would come down by 2030 to see those figures. :P

This statement isn't more than pure wild guessing. 2030 is so far away! Gosh we don't even know what's going to happen with the price tomorrow. Making a prediction over such a big timeframe will give you a chance of being kind of right of lower than 1%!!
If you want to be taken serious, you shouldn't make such statements.
I hope that in 2030 Bitcoin still exists, still is numero uno! And even that is a big gamble without talking about price!!

Government not stupid one, they will push down the price. maybe 5 digit is available.

I wouldn't say so, this sum is just to exaggerated. I also beleive that Bitcoin price will rise in the future but let's be realistic, this is not achievable. And that is so distant future, by then maybe the world and the Bitcoin will not exist anymore. Let's rather focus on current situation and current problems that Bitcoin has and how to solve them.

I'd be happy to see $50,000 by 2030. I'm not sure if $500,000 is a bit too much.

and more importantly why would they do that.
price of bitcoin going up won't change anything in a country and the government don't care about these things. however what they care about is how bitcoin is used, meaning preventing people from using it illegally and since they can not do that the price doesn't matter because you can do the same illegal stuff if price was $0.0001

I also saw that news and my response is positive to this as I will throw this possibility away. I decided to take chance and will move exact 1 Bitcoin into a separate wallet for holding purposes. This claim can not be fully bullshit and can turn to be true who knows after all 1220$ current price were seeming dream too quite at start. I will say yes it is quite possible to see it that worth.

Do you know how much 13 years is? Everything is possible in 13 years even 100 times higher price then this. On other hand Bitcoin have also big chance to be totally worthless in 13 years.

I think that until the 2030 some altcoin will overcome the bitcoin because of a one simple reason- it will be technologically ineffective comparing it to the newest altcoins with upgraded mechanisms.
Also, the 500,000$ price per one bitcoin is very high, even in 2030.
We would talk about very big increase, from the 1200$ in only 13 years.
The bitcoin supply is 21 millions, it is not that big to achieve such a big price in 20 years I guess, because we need to remember also about money distributed also on altcoins.
Many known people have said that bitcoin has the great future, and most of us believe in that, but we cannot forget that currently, bitcoin dominance is 69.9%. which means it is not so much as 5 years ago.

Wow, it's incredible. Just buy more bitcoins and hold it for long time. Just need 2 bitcoins keeping until the year of 2030. We can become a millionaire. it's very easy to be a rich person.

It;s very big idea . I'm very funny to hear this word. I never believe on that word. 50,000$ for one bitcoin is very hard to reach in 2030.

I also read story so after I'm dreaming to get rich by 2030 but in fact it not looking possible at this point where price is still very low even not in 5 figures.

The speculation is simply an exaggeration.  He just say some random amount without considering the resistance and all other factor that may hinder the price increase.  For me this is just a non-sense blabbing just to take some attention.
