If you want steady income, use a pool. The hash rate is too low.

Don't even bother with solo, too small hashrate.

I am at 650mh and I have been wandering the same thing, can anyone enlighten on what hashrate you should switch to solo mining.  I have read a few month old forums saying over 100 was ok and I found one more recent post about anything under 5gh is not worth it.  Would like to know from the big guys a good number to start looking to solo mine

The difficulty is so high right now that it would take forever (In theory) of finding a block.
Pool mining is recommended for you.

You are welcome to try your luck but solo mining can get scary when your rigs are running but no coins are being produced for a long period of time.

Upto 500mh, stick to any pool.
500mh to 2gh, use ethpool because they will pay you the full reward for uncles.
2ghz+ you can try solo mining, but most solo miners are 50+ systems.

Why don't you guys try it yourselves with ETC, nethash is 1T vs 20T?

i would try with 200 giga not less, 2gh is too low, only one block per day

Pretty average result with fast coin and about 1/1000 of network + good setup. That is how it has always been and still is today.

1 block = 5 coins

With that hashrate you will find maybe 1 block a week.

heres the problem, its based on luck

take a week to find a block

next block takes 2 weeks

find 3 blocks back to back

no blocks for 2 months

etc

Thanks for this information, this is more along the line of data I am looking for.  I know alot of people on here are home miners with probably under 10 rigs.  I dont mind spending the investment to get to a big farm like 50 to 200 rigs.  I just want to know what is the sweat spot to go to solo mining and it be better than pool mining!
