Title: Allowing My Buisness to Accept Bitcoins as Payment
Post by: bitrainbow on April 26, 2013, 12:52:51 AM
Fellow Bitcoin community,

I have an online retail shop on etsy And in the interest of accepting BTC as payment, I am going to undertake creating a word press website of my own, so that I can contribute to the growing number of merchants furthering the validity of this currency.

If anyone has done this before, or has a better suggestion than wordpress (keep in mind I am not a coder, but a layperson) I would appreciate any words of wisdom, experience on the subject of creating a site and making the conversion. Also any links to helpful sites would be appreciated as well.

Also, is anyone here setting up an online marketplace that is a collective of sellers operating in bitcoins? This is also something I am interested in being a part of.

What you are describing is OpenBitcoinStore.com

A community, not-for-profit free bitcoin store hosted by donations. You can start your own store in 30 seconds, just hit "Get a Store" in the site.

We use wordpress+woocommerce+bitpay but it's all integrated with hosting and domain mamagement

We just relaunched the new code this past Monday and we are averaging 6 new stores per day.

Join us! Much more than a store, there's a community of store owners wanting to help each other.

The directory on OpenBitcoinStore has an inconsistency. Some of the links to storefronts automatically open in new tabs, and some stay in the same tab. I'm not complaining, mind you, just thought you might want to pick way and make it consistent.

We love bug reports! Fixed.

We (FoxyCart) have BitPay support as well if you're looking for more options (and want to accept other payment methods such as Dwolla, PayPal, Credit/Debit). FoxyShop is a great Wordpress plugin you may want to look into also. We sponsored WordCamp L.A. along with WordCamp Nashville this past weekend, and we will be sponsoring WordCamp Seatle as well.

Thanks for helping where Bitcoin needs it most: merchants!

We will shortly be releasing a plugin that will let you accept bitcoin payments with WordPress (http://bitmate.net) without the need to host a third party store etc. Would love to hear from you if you'd be interested in beta testing it.
