It's going to be very interesting when the bitcoin story eventually goes mainstream there. That day is certainly coming, it's just a matter of when. Rumors of tightening currency controls and general growing economic uncertainty could position bitcoin well. There is a large number of bucket shops for the occasional casino type trader. so a lot of nonprofessional trade for fun on pay day for small amounts. Bitcoin should look quite familiar to that segment. Big possibilities for a Chinese exchange there!

Bitcoin will become extremely useful for them to acheive those ends once someone figures out how to get these online gambling shops to them all around the great firewall.
(Source: My own travels to Macau and HK.) Never forget though; the PRC is not not going to take an attack against the Yuan as lightly as the FED takes it against the USD.
