Title: Which crypto-currency for investment/trading?
Post by: Mareksh on April 24, 2017, 09:55:58 AM
Hello,

I'm completely new to the market, had some BTC years ago but sadly sold it way too early.
Now I want to start again with investing / trading of bitcoin and/or altcoins.
The cryptocurrency market is huge now, there are so many coins I never heard of.

Can you help me clearing things up? What coins are good for investment / trading at the moment?

I want to buy some for long time investment but also for short time trading.

Thanks,
Mareksh

zcash and etheruem for longterm and monero too, i also like spreadcoin, ark, atom and stratis, there is pivx that was pumped not long time ago but it's just a clone of dash it's up to you if you find this good enough to invest or not, atom and pivx are both pure pos stratis also but it's different like ETH, the other are minable

only buy bitcoin for long term and dump altcoins as soon as they are pumped to get more bitcoin to add to your cold storage stash.
this is the key to success.

right now, LTC is on the way up and you can get it mid way to the moon.
there are also some newer coins that are performing very well. like PIVX and ARK, these recently have received a lot of attention and the rise is pretty good.

Monero is stable enough to consider as a good investment but zcash and ethereum are terrible pumps which are now in a bubble.

Today the best altcoin to buy is BTM Because it's Price got down slow from the beginning of this week , so I will suggest you to buy few BTC and sell at 40-50k Satoshi ,but be careful and make your eye attention Everytime at the price ( short time Investment) coin is available at Poloniex and Nova .
If you want to invest in long time then I will suggest you to buy posw coin ( available at yobit , cryptopia also at other)  this altcoin is growing speedly but now from 2 days it comes at constant rate of 1600satoshi , so buy and transfer it at poswallet .
In the posw wallet you can earn more even if the price not increase ( through Mining that is automatic , you didn't need to do anything after transfer your posw coin at poswallet ) .

RLC token is a good choice for you, try to visit his announcement page to get more information regarding the successful project which collect 12 million just in 6 hours. I will say if that has solid development.
But I can also be used for the short term trade. and with a lot of demand the volatility is really high comparing with another coin. It is best coin in my mind.

Thank you all for the answers.

I just transfered 350 EUR to my Kraken-account. Also I created accounts @ Bittrex, Cryptopia, C-Cex, Lykke Exchange and Poloniex.

It's only 350 because it doesn't hurt me when I lost some of it, also I feel better when using a small amount for first time trading.

Now how to proceed further? Which software is recommended?

I would like to create a portfolio with 2-3 cryptos for long-mid time investment and 2-3 for short trades.

For long-mid term I have BTC - ETH - LTC - XMR  --- which one would you prefer?
For short term trading I'm not sure, but maybe NXS, LYKKE, WAVES, PIVX, DASH, STRATIS, FTC, TORCOIN

I would be thankful if you can give me some advice which would fit the best for now.

Thanks in advance,
Mareksh

I highly disagree. I have a friend who bought ETH very early on, like really really early. Right now he has about 30 btc worth of ETH and considering if didn’t and just BTC he would have 2-3 bitcoin right now his investment paid of a whole lot. I disagree that bitcoin is the only coin and altcoins should be only for trading and getting more bitcoins.

I would recommend taking a look at a few ICOs, not sure if that counts as an altcoin for you but yeah.

For short investments I buy IOTA, IPSX. For long investments, ADA, IOTA, NEO, Litecoin are suitable. These are reliable coins from the TOP 20, behind them is a professional team, a reliable project. And of course, to diversify the portfolio, 30% of your assets should be in BTC and Eth.

My best suggestion to you for inviting into cryptocurrencies, you can invest any top ten coins at present market situation with more than two or three coins do not invest in single coin and wait for within this year end sure you get some good return for your investment.

First of all, I recommend buying ether and bitcoin for a long term. These are excellent coins, leaders in the market. And even when the price drops sharply, then after a while the price recovers and grows. So while this is the best coin.
You can also consider XMR, LTC, BNB, ADA, IOTA they are good coins and for a long time and for daily trading.

You always have to choose the main chains. ETH, NEO, ICX, Vechain can be Zcash or Wanchain.

This may rewrite it better as holding and trading.

For holding you can go with the coins which is betterment and save your life for long time. This is what I take hodl word as perfect one.

1: Bitcoin(always in the market)
2: Ethereum
3: Monero
4: Zcash

For trading purposes you may go with the short term profitable coins and that too cheap price coins means you will get the high price.

1: NEM
2: TRX
3: XLM
4: EOS
5: ETC

Tier 1: such as NEO/ETH/BTC

Tier 2: such as HPB/GoChain

Low cap:such as Lamden/Effect.ai

Potential masternodes: Essentia/Apex/TomoChain

ICOs: 20% of my portfolio to invest in ICOs

Just a suggestion, for mid term.
You should trade any coin with BTC Pair.
and for the long term 4 coins is very good because it is in the top 10 Coinmarketcap position.

Odem is a very potent coin if you buy them now, you will get twice as much profit later this year, I believe that they will rise sharply and possibly hit the top 50 in the coinmarketcap market.

You can try to do your research about master nodes and POS coins which has a true value through their projects with real life impact and has the potential to be utilized in many aspects in the future. I would recommend BUZZCOIN, WAVES, PRiVCY, DIGIWAGE, MAG, and GRFT. You can join their community in discord or any other form of social media to keep up with their announcements and roadmap achievements.

I use crypto for various things. I use digital currency to make investments, do Trading and I also use digital currency as a financial system in doing various financial transactions. Digital currency gives me a lot of convenience because I can do things a lot easier. This is a revolutionary and therefore I am very optimistic that someday digital currency will become a globally recognized financial system.

Bitcoin is still the best coin for investment, don't overlook your views from bitcoin. the second is Ethereum most worth and potential altcoin. for long-term I only recommend 2 of these coins, but for short term there are dozens of altcoins that you can use and are very profitable, such as EOS, XLM, USDT, XMR, NEO, IOTA, BAT and XRP. how much capital do you have? You also have to adjust the amount of your capital with the number of altcoins you will buy

Because we have many coins in the cryptocurrencies market now it very important you select those coins with existing products like bitcoin itself, ripple, binance, litcoin and bitcoin cash for investment. Many other coins are there for your investment but the foregoing are the best.

A little advice, if you want to make a long-term investment, then choose coins that already have big names, big marketcaps, large communities, and trustworthy. and you can find it in the top 10 of marketcaps, in my opinion it's quite safe and profitable in the long run. For the short term you can buy coins that you like, lots of coins have favorable price movements if you are good at analyzing, and for me, I prefer to trade on NEO, IOTA, and Zcash

In regards to MASSIVE gains (ROI)

It is hit or miss

While having save alts like OMG ETH WAVES and couple of others
most promising and it already starts to show is Spectrecoin
I ve been a holder of this project cause they have promised to invent anonymous PoS

Means you can convert all your funds to Spectre to keep it "off the blockchain explorer" but STILL receive staking rewards on them (interest)

As of May 17th this technology finally has been implemented in v3 wallet and finally gone LIVE

https://a.radikal.ru/a28/1905/9b/8be8a9052249.jpg (https://radikal.ru)

The price has already gone up significantly
Yet, still many people don't know about it (its only TOP 200 as of now)

Is it private - Yes
Can you gain anonymous PoS rewards - Yes
Is it a good smooth wallet - Yes
Is it easy to work - Yes
Is it still unknown - Yes $

If you want altcoins you can try Ethereum, Litecoin, and Stellar, if you want you can also try bitcoin and hold for longer, but i think this coins will take time to grow and who have money will wait, but never panic sell because can make you lose money.

if you are looking for a crypto with massive potential in the mid-long term range, look into Spectrecoin (XSPEC). Once it gets added to a few more exchanges, this privacy coin will thrive like no other!

The coins you listed will ever be the best coin to trade because they are sure bet that one must get profit out of it provided we buy at the right time, which the best time is usually the bear market, but as the bear market is over now, opportunity to buy has still not ended because we are already in these coins uptrend.

There shall be a continuous increase in the price of these coins till we get to hit the ATH and I don’t think that will be too far from now again, so say they will take time to grow, that was before the bear market ended, but now that bear market is over, I am not sure these coins will take that much time again to hit the full bull run.

It is necessary to understand that there are crypto-trading unia, standard coin or coin that has long term is BTC and ETH. All coins basically depend on the price of both these coins in the market. Then my short suggestion, choose one or both for investing or trading.

Most of the cryptocurrency is useful for trading but investment is the difficult thing for the future because we don't know how long it going well and how can we survive in the future that's why choosing the best currency with the best analysis and research is important to pick the right one for your future otherwise definitely the future will not go well.

Agree on it . These crypto coins are those who are out on the top list  because those coins are usually risky and most of them are new or only built for a pump and dump use    . That is why we should not hodl them for a long time because once their dev already reach their targeted qouta or profit, they can easily dump the coin with no point of return  .   If we want to invest just go only for the top coins ( ex. Top 5 , top 10 ) because they are the ones that are already proven to last longer  .

Thanks,
Mareksh
I will choose the ethereum for long term investment and store it in the safe for wallet for long time but if I want to trade and get money quickly I like to invest in Bitcoin and trade like day trading.

What time thinking is both the investment and trading will be suitable for the ethereum because it have lots of experience in this Crypto market so that I trust it for both investment and also little trading.

It is necessary to understand that there are crypto-trading unia, standard coin or coin that has long term is BTC and ETH. All coins basically depend on the price of both these coins in the market. Then my short suggestion, choose one or both for investing or trading.
This statement has gone wrong now, some people should look to the price movement altcoin at this time. Not all altcoins following the bitcoin price movement although it's several altcoin that has increased but most of them just have a movement price as usual. ETH and litecoin are the best if we look at the bull market now, that's also because the both coin have their own fundamental factors. I guess for someone who new to invest or trade on cryptocurrency thay should be choose bitcoin only. Because if the price goes to down he just simply to choose hold and wait the price up again, it won't be dangerous for them.

Ethereum is good for investment but it is currently overbought and except you have a long term investment in mind I will say you should invest in it with caution now. If I will advise or if I will buy any coins now it has to be those coins that do very well in 2017 but are currently not following the current bull trend and has large market capitalization! Therefore I will buy lisk, neo, ripple, zcash and dash. The foregoing coins will ever be with us and very soon there will start to have there owned share of the market.

I'm not sure that at the moment it makes sense to choose coins for short-term trading. Now the market is very slippery. Not the fact that the situation of 2017 will repeat. I think it makes sense to focus on the giants of the market like ethereum, bnb, lightcoin.

I think investing in the future and the long term is profitable for ethereum, bnb and XLM, my analysis of these three coins has very favorable value which can be used for short and long investments.

If you're just starting out it's best to focus on the top ranked alternatives which you can either buy and HODL for the long term or trade for shorter term gains and it would be best to start with Bitcoin and then diversify your portfolio with a select few major assets to balance the risk vs rewards

The coins you mention including some other top 20 coins in the market are indeed giants of the market, and these coins benefits investors more on a long term base, but not everyone can keep up with long term investment or have the patience for is, so it will still be wise to have some coins for trading on a short term in other to make money.

Imagine a full time trader that strictly does trade for a living, don’t you think it would not favor him to engage only in long term investments? The wise thing to do is what the op intends to really do, have some investment for long term trading, and still engage in short term trading, if he has the capacity to do so, he can probably trade top coins for long term investment, while some new coins that has not yet pumped for short term investment, he can also invest in IEO projects too.

I would recommend to invest in obscure tokens with low capitalization, namely less than 1 million US dollars. As a rule, such coins are often used for pumps, when their price increases several times over several hours. If you're lucky, you can make X's very quickly.

It is just luck we need for? I know it often to play as well, indeed, it happens several times even have a right selection of coins for investment but still we are relying on the luck that we can be in the right timing. But it is too much see that (any) coin to have an instant pump but rather to see them flowing slowly and slowly.

experience is the most obvious will help us choose assets for trade and investment. especially for daily trading, this clearly requires its own ability to determine good assets for trading. because this must be related to trading volume and market movements.

We have so many options for investment, and we can choose any coins we want. But for trading, we need to search one by one, so we can find the right coins for trading because, in every day, the altcoin position will always change, so that will make us find the right coins to trade. Once we can find one or more coins, we need to analyze what price we should enter the trade, and we need to find a low price to buy.

not necessary in the long run. Bitcoin investment is just enough to wait for a pump that can come at any time. as happened this month, bitcoin pumps even in a few hours, and it's very high. if we are lucky we can profit from such a moment.

I guess Monero is one of the best tokens for the long-time investment. If you are looking for something anonymous for your portfolio, then Monero fits perfectly. It is a decentralized open-source cryptocurrency for people who value their privacy and security. Also, it is impossible to track Monero. In addition, its inflation rate is low, which is another good reason for buying altcoin.

there are lot of investment opportunities available for you but picking up the right one will always been confusing for everyone because the market condition is like that if you pick the the current sweet then our minds it will not stay on the same currency for long time this is the reason why we are getting out from here investment very quickly

It is not only trading that requires you carefully choosing the right coin to invest in, it is very necessary also that you are picky about coins before you invest in them because not all the coins that you see in the market has plan for future, some of them are just here for the temporary, and if you make the mistake of investing in them for a long term, you may end up losing such investment for now.

So, for both Investment and trading, we need to do a very vigorous research and ensure that such project has a product that is really working and will be used by people. Any project without a real case will never increase in value and there will not be much volatility that will make it perfect for trading, and I think the best coins to trade right now lies within the top 20 coins.

you'd have to be really adventurous to start buying altcoins right now after all the indications telling you to sell your altcoins? unless you got your coins for free being a bounty hunter, you can just try holding it for good until a miracle comes in the future. as for now you can wait til the chart says you can invest.

What signs tell me to sell my Altcoins? My coins have already fallen 20-30 times from the maximum price. Why sell cryptocurrency assets for a penny when the market continues to develop ?!

At the moment, it’s difficult to say which altcoin you need to invest in, you can try to participate in projects for the binance launcher, there many give a good profit, and for the future I would pay attention to ethereum.

The most important advice I can give you is that, you should not hodl any altcoin in the long term. Because this is the most permanent thing on the market is bitcoin and altcoins are tools to increase the amount of bitcoin in your portfolio. When you look at the altcoin movements in the last 2 years, i think you can understand what i mean. This possibility has always confused me.

Right, maybe OP who created this thread at 2017 can be profited if buy again on this time. Maybe if hold for longer time maybe until halving come people who buy now can take profit in future. But how many percentage is people's decision.

It is hard to say that keeping altcoins in portfolio will increase the btc value. Altcoins were highly overvalued back in 2018 and since then facing lot of corrections. So it is better to keep portfolio homogeneously in Bitcoin and eventually invest in altcoins for shorter periods when there are some positive news related to any coin.

Safe investment is BTC and ETH, perhaps XRP as well. You wont make any HUGE gains by holding them short term (Like 6 months - 1 year), huge gains like 10x, or maybe even 100x is made investing in low marketcap coins, with real functional products.

Take a look at Blocknet, been in active development since 2014 (So you know they are legit). First project to make a true functional DEX, currently undergoing tons of UI fixes, that will make it even better.
The current trend right now is: KYC, Corrupt Exchanges, Exchange Hacks, Phising, etc..

By investing in a project that builds the literal future - Decentralized trading, I'd say you're putting your money in the right place. Blocknet and it's service nodes running the whole thing will have so much more to offer, but as always, I'd advice you to do your own research :)

Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and Binance ... I see these 3 most valuable coins on the market today, these three coins are very good for long term investment or used as daily/weekly trading.

but there are also coins that have just finished the ICO / IEO period which is good for long-term investments. For example like Decoin coins (DTEP) which are cheap at the moment, maybe it's good to buy now then hold it for 2 years later.
Decoin potential is not yet clear because this is still a new coin, but if you want to gamble hard, Decoin can also be used as a long-term investment

I dont know why you said that Decoin is good. I see in coinmarketcap the rank of Decoin is 2255 and volume of trading very low. Decoin also does not enter a top exchange. So for me it is very risky to hold Decoin for 2 years or more. The current cheap price does not guarantee that in the future the price will rise again.

So far I have not seen coins from ico or ieo that are worth holding for the long term. The current market price movements are uncertain. So you should be careful about buying coins. Buy coins that are indeed potential and that have been tested.

Maybe he means Dogecoin anyway because I don't see reason why someone will be picking from the least of coins that has no volume and telling the world that it is efficient for trading, is it by mouth, thinking or by practical use? For this reason is why I don’t pay attention that much to people’s opinion because they will only end up misleading you in the market.

People like to just shill their coin just because they have made the wrong choice of investment and now they want to pull other people down along with them, We need to be extra careful as to the way that we really listen to people's opinion so that we don’t get mislead of all these type of people that always shill coin to people without ever telling the truth on any project.

ETH and LTC.
Both of those coins have really good community and their management of their product is really good.
The tranasction speed is very fast and the fee is also worth.

To be honest, basically 90% of all the coins are in the bull run if you had just purchase most of the top 200 alts it could make you huge gain

In the 2019, its not the same anymore
You must pick your Alts precisely and judging from the recent trading trend
LINK is by far the strongest token with strong fundamental and good technical now
It is going uptrend where doing cost average on LINK is a pretty easy method for a good Risk reward trading

Wise choice, at least for newcomer bitcoin can be really suitable for trading or maybe long term investing. Volatile, yes and promising yes. Maybe if want to less risk, because risk will always happen in investment or business. Pick bitcoin can be best choice.

It's better if altcoin still prioritizes Bitcoin as your first choice for investment. because the direction of bitcoin really determines the price of each altcoin and also has proven data that submits that every year there will be an increase that occurs in bitcoin. just buy bitcoin and silence it and then you will get a sizable profit in the next 5 years

If you absolutely insist on buying altcoins just go to Coinmarketcap and pick from the top ten. If you insist to other altcoins:

I would to say NANO, it seems to me to be the only rival of LN at the moment. It's feeless, almost instant and it doesn't need miners. I'm using it with Wirex and it works great: I'm able to use NANO through Wirex to pay in every shop that accepts visa cards. Fees are low (2%). It's good for a backup card.

PIVX is other option with privacy, zero knowledge proofs, DAO, POS, solid monetary policy, great team, first of it's kind with many techniques, near instant transfers, stable history, has handled any complications effectively, efficiently, and morally, and more.

Other projects that I find interesting are those that return to users a part of the profits they make, with real use cases. BAT through Brave is example of what I mean.
