Title: [Discussion] Summer is coming... Reference 480 8GB Modding Post by: GPUM1ner on April 30, 2017, 05:15:56 AM The RX 480 8GB Reference (Blower Style) GPU's are pretty much rated as one of the worst GPU's for mining due to their single fan blower-style design. During the winter, these cards were fine, but as temperatures are rising for summer, they are beginning to run very hot.
Many members are still using them and I wanted to start a thread to hopefully gather some information and improvements with how miners are dealing with the design so that other Reference RX 480 users could benefit. I wanted to see if we could find the optimal settings for the GPU. Lets see your settings/configuration/mods/etc. Quote Card 1 --------------------------- Manufacturer: AMD/ATI Memory Type: Samsung ASIC Quality: 73.1% Current Hashrate: 29.3 MH/s Ambient Temp (Outdoors): 22.3c/73f GPU Temp: 67c Fan Speed: 73% Quote Card 2 --------------------------- Manufacturer: AMD/ATI Memory Type: Samsung ASIC Quality: 84.4% Current Hashrate: 29.6 MH/s Ambient Temp (Outdoors): 22.3c/73f GPU Temp: 64c Fan Speed: 60% Quote Current PBE Configuration: https://i.imgur.com/TnMNBbH.png Quote Relevant Software: Polaris Bios Editor 1.4.1: https://github.com/tpruvot/PolarisBiosEditor/releases/download/1.4.1/PolarisBiosEditor141.zip (https://github.com/tpruvot/PolarisBiosEditor/releases/download/1.4.1/PolarisBiosEditor141.zip) ATI/AMD Flash 2.74: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/ (https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/) GPU-Z 1.20.0: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-gpu-z/ (https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-gpu-z/) Title: Re: [Discussion] Summer is coming...
