Japanese internet conglomerate GMO Internet Co., Ltd is launching a bitcoin trading platform on May 24th. The internet giant is one of many Japanese companies looking to capitalize on booming demand for digital currencies in the world’s biggest bitcoin trading market.

We have to wait for this until the official launching. If it happened on the 24th of May of course this will be able to make bitcoin price increase. because the credibility of bitcoin will also increase the bitcoin user. This can significantly increase the bitcoin price. We all wait for Japan to make a breakthrough that can increase the popularity of bitcoin.

We should probably expect more exchanges to open in Japan after regulating it now. Its also nice that more exchanges are opening, we don't want to Chinese whales to hold most of the funds and manipulate the market as they wish to, I believe that stopping withdrawals on the Chinese exchange can be looked positively.

I too would like to see more countries adopt Bitcoin technology big time.  Having China dominate BTC does not give me any comfort.

So, I hope Japan takes the ball and runs with it!  But note that the USA (probably Europe as well) need to have stronger world-class players in the Bitcoin industry, else we may lose more industry to the Far East.  Bitcoin is definitely a technology of the future even if BTC as a digital currency ultimately fails (very possible), but if it does, other "coins" will come along.

Looks like Japanese people have decided that they want to leave a mark on the Bitcoin legacy, yesterday I read about it being introduced in the Olympics and today this, if this two news are true and it does happen people buckle up we are going to Mars, since we are already on the moon. What is surprising is that only Japanese people are taking it ahead, why doesn't China or India think about it. Just a quick thought what if Google decided to follow suit and set up as a payment for its play store. Every day I guess we need to thank the Japanese people, they are helping Bitcoins boom it up.

China doesn't really dominate Bitcoin.  Mining is somewhat centralised from a few Chinese mining pools, however Chinese dominance wouldn't be a problem if the pools were diverse and independent from each other - it's not about the country, it's about the people and just how much power they have.

attention coming from japanese investors, btc will be mooning moreover after the success of this new exchange, its just opening a door
to more crypto lovers and investors.

This is one example that proves bitcoin is no longer a virtual coin used by few tech savvy people. Millionaires and billionaires are trying to capitalize on booming crypto industry, more and more bitcoin exchange platform will keep on poping out in future. Hope they will open their doors open for international traders too.

It is excellent news to know that BTC is widely adopted in such large economy like Japan. This will open new doors for BTC everywhere, and help the continued rise in price. If you have BTC in your wallet, it's time to wait, grab a soda and popcorn and watch the show!

Japan is really in the frontier with regards to bitcoin moving forward in the future. They already adopt and embrace bitcoin like no other country. Bitcoin will be the new haven for big investors because it is now trusted specially country like Japan to back it up. Now the price of bitcoin will go to new heights that we haven't expected. So you better be ready accumulating bitcoins now.

As quoted Japan has got more shops and merchandisers accepting bitcoin. As a part more exchanges have been into existence. This is just an advancement or usage of technology for further making bitcoin usage with ease. So someone already into the internet and technology base moving forward with a exchange implementation will easily gain attention of users easily.

Just two weeks remain. And if everything that you are saying is going to come true, then we have to take this price and to buy some coins or to hold and wait. The price can reach 2000$ per 1 BTC this case or even higher! I think and other crypto currencies will join the growth  :o

This is excellent news for the wider adoption of Bitcoin across the board. I am happy our Japanese Neighbors are adopting Bitcoin on many levels and this will bring wider appeal and I read the news this morning in an article on cryptocompare.

Looks like they don't want to miss the train. Seems like great business sense to me, well done to them. They will be rewarded handsomely.

it's about time they are looking into this, they have a very large volume, and they need other exchange to spread better the volume, i hope this exchange will accept many currency and not just bitcoin

China and India needs some homework to do, even they most admit now they can't hide anymore.
It's here, it's not going away. Never, Bitcoin will be here. Bitcoin is our next pay system.

I wonder who they're recruiting for their security. Let's hope it's beyond top notch as no doubt an army of Russian brats will be devoting every hour of every day to emptying it.

Its actually a good thing that this is happening and that those who have predicted the death of bitcoin several times with facts and figures based on their imaginations will have to start a rethink on the position they have hold so dearly. Its high time countries begin to understand that the future is crypto and if they are not ready to join in, they should better give way.

I hope this one have better security and cannot be hacked or else we are just adding new problems to exchanges getting emptied by hacker. Japan is really getting into bitcoin and this is good news to crypto users.

Bump. Japanese Exchange platorms generally coming with extremely high bitcoin volumes which could mean more price increase in 2017 year. Let's wait what GMO will do. Share the updates please.

A giant step, by a giant company and by a giant economic country to our bitcoin world.
I Hope it will take bitcoin one step ahead and reach many more people to engage themselves.

But security & trust matters.. I hope they will be enough prepared for it.

Would too much regulation affect the fluidity and anonymity of BTC?

This will probably increase volume by quite a bit.
Bigger demand should mean an increase in price.
The question is by how much, and if any of the current rise in price is speculation of future use, or actual current demand.

Correct and with that, those people here that are having problems to how they could buy or sell bitcoin will feel at ease. Specially if those big companies will open up branches even in other countries.
I hope it is not just Japan but even those small countries they could provide one local wallet exchange that will give them an easier option to where they could buy and sell it. Something like a bank connected wallet or an ATM machine for them.

Japan is really taking the bitcoin seriously, as I would expect of them. So is the new exchange is open, that just might bump bitcoins price up, right?


Well China is the leader in bitcoin mining,yes? Tho, I don't know what's India doing at the moment.

It is really a great news as this will be official Bitcoin exchange where we can expect that this exchange will be fair and not like chinese exchange where they manipulated the price with bogus trades.

This is an interesting point. I know that they've now legitimised it in Japan. Does that also mean that Bitcoin trading is now subject to regular trading laws such as their stock markets would be?

I think this are the points which will be benefited by the japanese exchange as they will perform legally with full transparency so that their should not be any exchange scam.

Obviously exchanges front running and faking trades are taken care of. But I'm wondering whether they'll treat the trading as akin to stock markets or forex. I assume forex in which case their users will still be able to pump and dump with impunity if the laws are like most other places.

It´s interesting to note that many of these exchanges are not open by ordinary people but by large companies that decide to invest in Bitcoin, even a major Japanese bank will open an exchange. There are also more and more millionaires who recognize investing in bitcoin and cryptocoins. It will be interesting to see if the Japanese example extends over time to other countries. We will also have to see if big companies set their sights on mining.
