Title: Passphrase really not working with Armory!
Post by: Farmhand on May 12, 2017, 01:22:38 PM
Hey everyone,

I know you've heard this a thousand times but I'm kinda freaking out. I just imported my wallet with some bitcoin on it to Armory and now the passphrase I used isn't working. I forgot to make a paper backup as well. I figured there might be a chance that I typed the passphrase incorrectly so I created a new encrypted wallet with the passphrase being a short and simple string of numbers. Then I tried to change that passphrase and it still said I was typing the incorrect passphrase. Trust me there is no way I could screw up that one.

If it helps I managed to send a small amount of bitcoin to kraken with the wallet I'm having an issue with but it took me 50 tries with a bunch of different password combos. I wasn't sure which worked cause I had tried so many and didn't pay perfect attention to my keystrokes. I know I'm an idiot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can you post the Armory log files? Go to File > Export Log Files and copy the contents of the exported log file into a post here.

It is possible that something is erroring and preventing the wallet from being unlocked even if you entered the right password. Those errors will appear in the log files.

Thank you for the reply! I'm currently at work until 4pm. Once I get home I'll post the logs.

Assuming there are no errors and I'm just typing the passphrase in wrong then I was thinking I'd just direct all of my Bitcoin in the wallet towards my mycelium wallet and keep guessing until they go through. I figured that might work since i got lucky and was able to send a small portion to kraken already.
