Post by: shadabahmed on May 13, 2017, 10:00:26 AM
hello two days ago i sent .2 btc from electrum to an xchange i pay 0.00054000 btc as fee
and the transaction is still pending and now i am seeing LOW FEE on electrum wallet after electrum upgrade.
i clicked on "child pays for parent" but nothing happend
ok my question is how i verify it?

The fee has risen substantially, you would require about 220satoshis per byte, roughly at least 0.0005 per transaction. This depends on your transaction size, mind sharing the transaction ID?

Child pay for parent will only work if the unconfirmed transaction sends any amount of Bitcoins into an address that you control. Did you enable Opt-in RBF by any chance?

Glanced at it and it doesn't has opt-in RBF flag in it so that option is pretty much scrapped. You paid 80satoshis/byte and that isn't enough so your transaction wouldn't be at the top of the priority. There are two options that you can do,
1. Ask a miner to help you. Contact macbook-air or quickseller. They may be able to do this for a small fee.
2. Use CPFP to entice miners to mine it for you. Do you control 3KX4ejoMXDsWq3be4iPb77Nhk7seoanSyu?
If yes:
Press Ctrl-A and go to Addresses. Press and expand change. You should be able to see 3KX4ejoMXDsWq3be4iPb77Nhk7seoanSyu. Send to 3KX4ejoMXDsWq3be4iPb77Nhk7seoanSyu and use a very high fee (ie. 0.001BTC) the higher the better and put recipient as 3KX4ejoMXDsWq3be4iPb77Nhk7seoanSyu. Try using the CPFP function first, this is a manual method and is way more complicated.
and Opt-in RBF whats that?
It is a procedure where you send out an alternative transaction that spends the same inputs with a higher fee. That way, your older transaction will get replaced.

Yes. Its basically child pay for parent.

Child pay for parents means that a transaction is created using the output from a low fee transaction. When a miner sees the high fee transaction, they would want to include it in their block. However, they need to include the whole chain of unconfirmed transaction into their block. Hence, with the higher fee at the child transaction, the miners would want to mine the whole chain of transactions to receive the fee.

Your transaction can be dropped in about 72 hours, if no one rebroadcasts it.

0.004BTC is a bit too much. Just use dyanmic fee and you will be fine. Just to be sure, adjust the slider to the middle and slightly to the right.

oh sorry bro 3KX4ejoMXDsWq3be4iPb77Nhk7seoanSyu  its not my addres. i apologize for this

What is this?! You said in the OP you sent 0.2 btc to an exchange. In the transaction you posted 0.2 btc is being sent to the address 1Jb.. and change of 0.003166 is being sent back to your wallet change address 3KX.. So please don't make silly mistakes like these. The address 3K belongs to your wallet. You will find it under "change" on the addresses tab.

https://blockchain.info/tx/eb6b856df20fd2a98afd7a9e583b993879e3930a84380d9a803b64464d82ee3d

Now CPFP is very easy. Follow these instructions:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5zchm8/sent_transaction_with_low_fees_in_electrum_can_i/dex2alq/

You can do CPFP because one of the output addresses belongs to your wallet. That is the change address 3K.

Your transaction will not help because it is spending to and not from the change address. Go to Addresses tab, do you see 3KX4ejoMXDsWq3be4iPb77Nhk7seoanSyu in there?

https://i.imgur.com/M6WhkEF.png

If you don't, then you are out of luck and CPFP cannot work.

You have to press sign and broadcast. Once its done, a CPFP transaction will be made from that address.
