Title: Quad core CPU performance Post by: billiophile on June 19, 2011, 12:05:39 AM I've an E8400 dual core quietly running at full tilt, mining with 2 x 5850. I know the GPU is much quicker but since the guiminer relies so heavily on the GPU (but max'ing out the CPU at the same time), is there much point in upgrading to a quad core CPU?
Not sure if it's worth overclocking my current CPU or to purchase Q8300 quad core for about £100. I run an Intel Quad Core Q8300 running at 2.5Ghz, and I only get about 20-25MHash/second.
