Title: Lost some bitcoins in Bitcoin Wallet, please help :)
Post by: smkeddy on May 17, 2017, 12:54:12 PM
I backed up my wallet with an encrypted file back in 2013. I tried to restore it now on a new phone with that file I had saved in an email. I remember my password, but after "synchornizing with the network" for a few hours, it still says I have zero balance. I had about 0.75 BTC in there. Any ideas?? ??? ???

IF you follow this guide, you should be able to decrypt that wallet, and then sweep it into a new wallet...

I posted instructions for extracting the private keys from Bitcoin Wallet for Android at these two links. However, it's a highly technical process.

Got? Like, I was able to decrypt the file, but the twelve words did not appear, I think there are other software that does this, you need the security PIN that you have registered to protect against unwanted expenses in the wallet.

Did you open the decrypted file in notepad, or notepad++

The 12 words don't show up when you open the file using windows built in text editor. You have to use an alternative one like notepad++ which you can download here.

Yes it was by notepad ++
still have to have the security PIN right? Otherwise I would be able to decode just by entering my cell phone, opening the bitcoin wallet and exporting the backup by setting a password in the exported file, and decoding ...
